  1. I have a strong feeling that having Coach Stubblefield back in the Duck fold is going to make a huge difference in both recruiting AND player development. Timing is good for his return, moving into the B1G. Of course being able to point to another basketball "pro- duck" (Sir Payton Pritchard) with a NBA championship ring doesn't hurt much in recruiting either! Go Ducks!
  2. Way to go Pritch! So glad that Boston declined your request for a trade over last off-season. Was great to see Payton as a significant "6th man", not only in the playoffs, but throughout the season. Accolades earned! Go Ducks!
  3. Win that first "Natty" this year and just sit back and watch as everyone involved with Oregon Football, falls and trips over themselves, in expanding Autzen Stadium as soon as humanly possible. (Hell at $600.00 a seat for the "cheap seats", am surprised they aren't already!). I think expanding to 75,000 seems about right and finish the iconic "O" shape viewed from above. Until then...I have a small tool shed out back of my home. Has electricity. Only asking $250.00 a night for the Ohio State game....any Buckeye takers???...LOL. Go B1GBOY Ducks!
  4. Yes this fact is certainly entertaining and satisfying. However....seems to me that Oregon Recruiting (both highschool and the portal) is actually obliterating "most" teams in the country! Just sweeter that it is such a recruiting "beat down" to dem dogs from the north! Go Ducks!
  5. The more I am exposed to Dan Lanning and his persona, the more I feel his hiring was an extremely wonderful stroke of timing and luck. We are fortunate to have him. Go Ducks!
  6. Improvements to Autzen stadium??? Hmmm.... Besides the points already brought up regarding parking/bathrooms/food services/people "traffic flow" and the like, which will most likely be addressed during the next expansion of Autzen (before the next TV deals are negotiated through the B1G). What I would like to see is "catching up" with the newer tech out there. Have already done so with dual "big screen TV's at each end of the stadium; plus the vastly superior sound system currently inplace. LED Lighting would be the first thing I would invest in. Gives sooo much "flexibility" on using the lighting system to further enhance the GameDay experience in addition to be a whole lot more energy efficient. Not exactly a stadium improvement but coordinating with the COE on the "riverfront development" project and goals could go a long way in enhancing and improving the pre and post game experiences while simultaneously addressing "parking" in a combined approach so any increase in parking would be "shared" thus ensuring that there is not a structure or designated parking that sit mostly empty and unused between stadium events. Regardless, I am positive that there are already "improvements" on the table. Probably waiting to see what being a "playa" in the new conference brings and what further developments will need to be taken into consideration. And of course, investment capital and expected return of investing that capital might look like. Let's hope the plans for Autzen and it's surroundings can become a economic and social boom for all involved. (And, yeah! A "public" National Championship Trophy Case should be in those plans, cause it be coming "home" soon.)! Let's make Autzen....more! Go Quackers!
  7. A great opportunity for the NFL-lite to "saddle" up to the NFL-Heavy. Coordinate with enviromentally controlled NFL stadiums to feature NFL-lite playoff games on weeks that the resident NFL team is on the road. PLENTY of TV money in the new NFL-lite to pay Whatever royalties asked for by the individual stadium locations; and we all know how mega-organizations just Love to pad each other's bottom lines in the name of that "quarterly financial report card" they be so beholden to. Start making some inroads as a "football product" partner, rather than a rival. Spend less money in litigation...make more money by collusion.....errr...partnership! Win-Win for all. (Now how to "saddle-up" to MY partner when she realizes the "football playoff widow" she will become Dec 1st through mid-Feb????🤔)
  8. I had just arrived in Oregon the year before (still was callin' home Ore' gone!) and was Not at the game but was listening to Jerry Allen go nuts on the radio. Had to have a new associate give me the rundown on why that play was so significant other than to secure a win. Thought to myself, humm maybe this "scrappy lil' team sporting a "Duck" as a mascot might be a fun one to follow? Three decades later, no other sports team, past or present, has garnered the attention and passion of fandom from me, more than the Oregon Football program. It's been a "glorious" ride and Yes, "The Pick" was the football gods smiling upon our program inviting us towards "blueblood" status. Oregon Football has not looked back since. Go Ducks!
  9. There is a very valid reason that the term..."Hold My (10 cent) Beer!", is usually associated with some dumbassed move made by a human under the influence of too much ETOH! Yeah. What possibly could go wrong! 🤔😁😋
  10. I guess I have to admit that the one true "value" of now playing on one of the two "super conferences" is the fact that we will now be getting 3-5 marquee games a year, compared to the 1-3 we were use to getting in the conference formally known as the PAC. I will definitely enjoy the level of competition but also have to adjust my expectations that a good regular season will now be 9-3 or 10-2 with the great seasons being one lossers. Going to be very difficult FOR ANY team (even those teams that insist on only playing eight conference games) to go undefeated in the new power conference dynamics. That being said, I do believe the Duck Football Program has moved into a perennial top ten program with an annual expectation of playing in (and eventually WINNING) the college football playoffs. GO DUCKS!
  11. Yup! My eighty+ y/o dear ole mother would watch Oregon Basketball JUST for the commentary of Bill Walton. I loved watching how Bill could make her laugh, outloud, by just doing what Bill would do during his broadcast. Hopefully I can/have touched other people in such positive way in my own life. At the very least he is a great role model for me to continue to live the best life that I can.....in counter to all of the daily 🐂💩. Thanks again Bill, for all the great memories!
  12. Bill Walton was one of the "few" truly passionate and insightful human beings to grace our sporting lives. Even though, sometimes, his passion and insight drifted from the sporting "task at hand". But, that is what made him....well...Bill! Too many times do we, collectively, not appreciate the small gifts in our lives. And, albeit sometimes frustrating to tune into a (former) PAC12 BB game, expecting to hear stats and statistics from the announcer "cheat sheets"; but instead get to hear about the settling of the "Whiliamet" valley and all the rich history it entails. Hell! During Bill broadcasts, I think I learned more about the various regions of the West than I did in my whole life of formal education. Lol. Point is. Even if Bill never did a single broadcasts and remained solely as a Oregon favorite son, being instrumental in the states only professional basketball championship. His "persona" would still have "touched" many people in his influence. I for one am grateful that Bill felt moved to adopt Oregon, and the former PAC as his own, expressing his love and devotion for both. As a sports announcer he "may" be missed. But, as a genuine, compassionate, positive individual human; his moving on to the next realm is a net loss for ours. It almost seemed fitting that both Bill AND the PAC both came to an end, together. Godspeed Bill and keep us here in this realm in your thoughts and feels, in your next. Love ya, Man! Thanks for your humanity. Rest In Peace, Senor'.
  13. From a read on Bleacher Report. Just going to drop this here for OBD's to ponder next year's Broncos Team. Bo Nix, Denver Broncos 5 OF 5 Matthew Stockman/Getty Images Where They'll Succeed in Denver's Scheme There's always a degree of flexibility when talking about Sean Payton's scheme. Payton has core concepts, same as anyone else, but his offense has been so many different things over the years. The early Drew Brees offenses were different from the late Drew Brees offenses. Teddy Bridgewater's spot starts in New Orleans looked nothing like the year Jameis Winston was the starter, neither of which looked anything like when Taysom Hill was behind center. With that in mind, it's better to look at Bo Nix through the lens of which version Payton offense to expect, not what the Payton offense can be in totality. The Bridgewater iteration with a dash of the Hill package is probably the closest approximation to what we'll get with Nix in Denver. Boring, I know, but that's the reality when a team takes the sixth quarterback off the board — a fifth-year senior, at that. Nix is an awesome quick game operator. Pre-snap, Nix does very well to pick apart basic coverage shells. He knows which matchups to attack and where his receivers have a leverage advantage relative to the coverage at hand. Nix executes on that information without hesitation, and he's got a lightning quick throwing motion to make good on it. All of the one- and three-step drop concepts that Payton wants to spam in this offense will be available. RPOs are a major tool for Nix for the exact same reasons. Nix does well to know who he is keying on and how to make the right decision. Likewise, Nix's snappy throwing motion makes it easy for him to go from having the ball in the belly of the running back to suddenly being halfway to the receiver. There's a world where Nix is quicker on the draw in RPO situations than everyone but Tua Tagovailoa. Payton's other use for Nix will be his legs. Nix is a good athlete. There's no one trait that pops off the screen, but he checks all of the boxes. Nix has a thick frame with good balance. He's quick and responsive when maneuvering tight spaces while also being fairly dangerous when he gets to stride out in the open field. Nix ran for 1,613 yards and 38 touchdowns over his five seasons in college, including a 510-yard, 14-touchdown campaign in 2022. Nix is at least the athlete young Andy Dalton was, likely better. Where They'll Need to Improve in Denver's Scheme The flip side of the things with Nix is which aspects of the Payton offense he may take off the table. Payton has largely enjoyed his offenses being under center. Late-stage Brees had to shift away from it a little, but for the most part, Payton has wanted to be a team that can go under center and marry the run game with the passing game. All good offensive minds want to get there at the end of the day. Payton is no different. Nix is coming from the polar opposite of an under center offense. While Nix did get some under center experience at Auburn, his days at Oregon were almost purely played from four-wide shotgun formations. It was a spread-and-shred offense. Oregon's offense didn't do a whole lot of shifting or motioning, either. They had their set of core plays and that was that. To say the least, Payton wants to put a lot more on Nix's plate than he ever had at Oregon. The ideal Payton offense requires a quarterback who can comfortably play from under center, handle having motions in the offense, and manage multiple play calls at once to get the offense into the right look. Nix may get there in time, but it's probably unreasonable to expect him to handle it all in his rookie season. Nix also needs to attack the middle of the field better if he wants to unlock the best of the Payton offense. To be clear, it's not that Nix struggles when he does throw the middle of the field. Nix's arm strength clears the bar and he's plenty accurate. More accurate than almost anyone else in the class, if anything. The problem is Nix was not asked to throw the middle of the field very often at Oregon. In turn, there's not many examples of Nix anticipating a tight window over the middle and threading it with confidence. Those moments are so few and far between on his college film. It's not always easy to teach quarterbacks to be more aggressive and confident either. Taming a quarterback is one thing, but getting them to be more aggressive than they are inclined to be is a tough ask. Even a coach as good as Payton will likely struggle to get that out of Nix, at least early on. Stat Predictions 17 G, 64% CMP, 3200 YDS, 17 TD, 11 INT; 350 RUSH YDS, 4 TD Realistic Goal / Outcome Nix does not need to be a revelation. He doesn't need to win Rookie of the Year or blow anyone away. Nix primarily needs to be accurate and smart with the football. That we can certainly expect from him. To put it over the top, Nix would need to show some degree of flexibility in the way Payton can run the offense, which would be both a diversion from what Nix was at Oregon and what Payton's scheme was last year given the constraints Russell Wilson put on the offense. Obviously, some of the narrative is changing about Bo. Have NO DOUBTS on his ability to pickup Sean's offense and be able to execute it at a high level. Going to be a fun football season for us rabid Duck Fans! Go Quackers! 🦆🏈🔥
  14. Based on the metrics that the article referred to in determining these tier structures; this is a decade window of year to year "Consistency" of a football program. Just verifying what OBD fans already know and have had the pleasure of experiencing, for quite some time now. The consistency of being a "successful" football program! (Hat tip to Utah for also making that tier one group) How this "Duck" fan Loves me some Oregon Football! Go Ducks.
  15. Ok....two night games confirmed. Sooooo....Smooth 12 y/o 'sippin" Bourbon, libation of choice it shall be! Go Ducks! *hic* 🥴
  16. Thank You Mr. FishDuck for the "Teds Talk" example of the classic seven stages of grief through the Oregon Football lens. Your layout of what we have ALL been through the past year watching the TV Execs, implode, the once proud conference formerly known as the PAC 8/10/12, is the Perfect example of the grief process. Bravo Senor'. Bravo! Go Ducks! 🦆
  17. No particular insight here butttt...Tez Johnson does seem to have taken on a significant "leadership" role upon himself in his final year of college football eligibility. Stepping out of his "bro's" shadow, per say. Confident feeling that Tez is on the brink of an outstanding final season as a Duck! Jeeeezz...How many more DAYS till Kickoff??!! Go Ducks! 🦆
  18. Yeah they better. A "Rock" comparable to the one that took out the dinosaurs some 65 million years ago! Or to put it another way: "If you be a coming for the "KING", you better not miss!" 😁
  19. Still sticks on my craw that finding money to keep the conference "formerly known" as the PAC12 was just not economically feasible in this tough, tough, downsizing era of sports media. YET, 12 months later you got da' cash to lock in college football playoff TV rights (for twice the cost of what the conference was asking for), AND now partner up with other media conglomerates, who also didn't have any money for investing into a TV/Steaming deal for the PAC12, to create your own streaming sports network with ALL of the revenue pitfalls, challenges, and competition to become a viable product and meet the long term subscriber goals. It is ALL "Monopoly Money" and I for one get exhausted by all the 🐂💩! At least I have "My Ducks!". 👍
  20. Honestly, Tez reminds me a whole lot of a fav "slot" receiver I played with in my early days of Fantasy Football. That being Brady's second favorite target of his career; Wes Welker. With all the talent in the Ducks receiver room, Tez is going to be a problem for most all secondaries in the B1G. Can't wait to see him "ball out" in his final year as a Duck!
  21. The future so bright, you gotta wear shades 😎. At the very least be throwing "shade" over the B1G 😁! GO DUCKS!
  22. Said it several months ago AND for all the reasons stated by Denver Execs and our fellow forum feathered friends. Bo Nix will be considered the QB "steal" of this year's QB heavy draft when all is "played" out on the gridiron. Can't wait to hear all the "expert pundits" trip over themselves retracting all the negativity put out surrounding Sir Bo Nix. Go Quackers!
