Touchdown right before halftime gets them a 14-3 lead. Penn States offense doesn't look to be on the same level as Oregon's or Ohio State's. -

Penn State leads 7-3, a surprise since Vanderbilt +24 was given better odds against Alabama than UCLA +28 was given against Penn State. -
Michigan State did play as expected. More importantly though, so did Oregon, though the Red Zone hiccups could have been done without. But get those mistakes out of the way. Overall Oregon looked like an upper tier B1G team taking care of business.

Oregon Lines Up for BIG Introduction
30Duck replied to The Kamikaze Kid's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Spot on, Kamikaze. B1G fans think Oregon is still the Blur, all about the uniforms. The Red Zone mishaps kept the game from being a blowout, but all the B1G fans watching got a look at what Oregon is in 2024. Oregon has B1G sized players in the trenches and players that will HIT in the secondary. Michigan State is definitely one of the Old Money residents of the B1G, and they were handled. It was rough for them to have a two game stretch of Ohio State, then Oregon, but at least they were consistent. -

UCLA is moving the ball against Penn State. Right until I started to write this and they got stuffed going on 4th & 1 on Penn State's 20. -
So Do We Want Ohio St. Coming in Dominant?
30Duck replied to Duckley Palace's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I definitely want Ohio State to win, pretty much like the Ducks did against Michigan State, If I can have anything in the minds of Buckeyes, it's complacency. Don't want them to come in off a bad game feeling like they need to prove something. -
Discuss them here UCLA at Penn State probably won't be that interesting, but if Arkansas can beat Tennessee, Oregon should move back into the Top 5. What will Missouri show today against SC? Speaking of USC, Go Golden Gophers and of course, Go Cal, beat Miami!!!

Yes. Goliath vs Goliath and our Goliath has the home field. Iowa will be a tougher test than MSU was, will be interesting to see how Ohio State does in their warm-up game.

Which Has More Upside Left: Offense or Defense?
30Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Right now I'd say there's more room for the offense to improve. This was a dominant performance by the defense, the offense was dominant too, but 2 red zone INT's? I guess DG showed some stud quality in not letting the INT's bother him, heck he got back up and did it again after the first one. James still doesn't have breakaway speed, but that first half was impressive. MSU's strength was supposed to be their D line. I hope that's true because Oregon's O line made them look bad. Against the run and the pass. Oregon's receivers are a special bunch, when Gabriel can match them, the offense will be unstoppable. -
No Corso! Host Rece Davis announced Lee Corso would not be on the show as he tends to a family matter. "Lee Corso not with us this week," Davis said. "I want to reassure you his health good, Lee feels fine. He had a family matter that required his attention and we know he's locked in on the show because he already stole my preferred superdog."

The Answers I’m Watching for With the 2024 Ducks
30Duck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Just found this floating around: Ohio State's offensive line was generally seen as a problem area heading into 2024, especially after its rather lackluster showing last year. So, it's not just OBD. -
Agree with all of these particularly the SEC idea of neutral. The Ducks should never set a webfoot inside the refurbished, yet still cheesy, little stadium again
-
In a way it's good. But parity due to teams being constantly in flux isn't necessarily an improvement. NIL, the transfer portal, has made building a team an anachronism.

The Answers I’m Watching for With the 2024 Ducks
30Duck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Rankings shouldn't be done before week 4, and pre-season hype is what it is, hype. This Oregon team might have the most "talent" ever assembled, but that shouldn't have been enough to anoint them champions. It wasn't just Duck fans who did this, Desmond and Herbie predicted the Ducks would win the Natty, though Herbie did say the Ducks would lose next week's game against his alma mater. There is still time for all the talent on this team to rise to the top, 4-0, without playing an A game is good, there was a win, over a team that had never lost to Oregon before, has a Heisman worthy running back and a good chance at making the playoff, in there. The schedule has worked out well. UCLA was a great first road game, Michigan State is a rugged team that Oregon can get some resistance from and begin to open the playbook up before the B1G game. -
An Alliance Between the Big Ten and SEC?
30Duck replied to Thomallister1291's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Me too. It's too bad that college football has come down to a "Have vs Have Not" paradigm, but I'm glad the Ducks are part of the former. I don't like what money has done. 30, 40, 50 years ago, college football was very entertaining. Now, it's very much a part of Entertainment, like movies, which were more fun, 30,40, 50 years ago. I don't watch movies like I used to. The last time I went to a movie, I bought the ticket at the window, and got change back for the 10. Now, a ticket has to be purchased on line, and a 10 won't do it. We laugh at the Huskies and their Championship. But I like the way they got it more than the way a championship is won now. Besides money, the Powers that be (SEC. ESPN) wanted a clear cut champion. Part of the fun back in the day was the battle of the AP and UPI polls. All year, arguments ensued. Now the arguments are about seeding. Bowl games were great. Players didn't think of opting out. The Ducks didn't win a lot when I first started watching. Back then a fan could shout at Norval Turner on the field, and he'd hear it. Now Oregon is a Brand. Definitely a Have and I'm happy for that. I'll never stop watching college football, especially OBD, but it isn't the same. -
You know, when it comes down to it about OBD, I believe ONJ said it best

Oregon Still Undefeated, So Why Are Some Ducks Fans Unhappy?
30Duck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Prime would be a great coach at Dallas, in the NFL. The Cowboys are all about Clicks. "America's Team" hasn't advanced out of the first round of the Playoffs since 1995, but the $$$ and attention keeps coming. -
The Ducks dominated the Bruins in the 1st half, went through the motions in the 2nd. Georgia was very fortunate to get past Kentucky, winning 13-12, then after a Bye, found themselves down, 30-7 at the half, to Alabama. then almost came back to win. Ohio State hasn't been tested yet, but we'll see what happens to them with Iowa.
-
Great post. I would be more afraid of USC if Orgeron were their coach instead of Riley.

This is the problem. First, if the call on the field had been incomplete there wouldn't have been a review. But on the field, it was called a catch. So, there was a review? A 7 minute review to find INCONTROVERTIBLE evidence that overturned the call on the field and gave Miami the win?
