New CFB Playoff REMOVES the Pressure Off This Game?
30Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
OBD is 1-4 ATS so far. The line for this one opened at Ohio State -2.5, last I looked, it had moved to -3.0, still not enough betting on the Ducks. -
Concerned About Officiating vs. Ohio State?
30Duck replied to peterfish55's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Not only is Jeremiah Smith a super talented WR for Ohio State, he's 6'3, 215, going against undersized Corners for the Ducks, an "objective" B1G Ref is going to think he would have caught that if he hadn't been interfered with. Aside from officiating doesn't dictate outcome, I've had this in my mind. -
Dan Lanning and OBD remind me of Dan Campbell and the Detroit Lions. The Lions are new to NFL elite, lots of talent, including a left tackle named Penei Sewell, but they make mistakes sometimes. Campbell doesn't like to punt; the Lions go for it on 4th down. Any time a team converts in that situation, it was a good decision, and usually if they don't convert, the execution was wrong.

Time For the B1G Heavyweight Bout of the Year
30Duck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It is interesting that if the Ducks beat the Buckeyes, the sky's the limit, if they lose, it's not the end of the world. If USC loses to Penn State, the crumbling down at USC will take on epic proportions. USC hasn't been a "Destination" since Carroll left. It hasn't worked with Riley. Is another high profile coach going to want to take the job? This will be the first time at Autzen for the Buckeyes. They're saying the right things, but I don't know how seriously they're taking the Ducks. Hopefully, OBD will jump on them early and the Buckeyes will need some Dramamine. -
New CFB Playoff REMOVES the Pressure Off This Game?
30Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Charles, reading the posts today has had a calming effect. I still want OBD to be at Level 1, but I'm now just looking forward to a great game between two great teams. If, as you mentioned, this was still the 4 team Playoff, I'd be a wreck. But now, an L is not the end of the season. Will Corso pick the Ducks? -
Next year, Prime's kid & Travis Hunter will be gone. how about Prime goes Hollywood for real and replaces Riley?

I think the "Dog" is a mixed bag. Gonzaga, soon to be part of The Scrap, has been an underdog and a Big Dog, #1 seed in "March Madness" and haven't won a title yet. My hope is this game will be the catalyst for Oregon not being an Underdog again. Like Ohio State the motivation to win will be taking care of business.

Vandy over 'Bama: Some Losses are a LOT Worse than Others
30Duck replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
You know, Alabama's defense the last 6 quarters has looked like USC's. But if it's truly as horrendous, Alabama will finish 7-4. -
Oregon Ducks Football: Biggest Threat From OSU

I've noticed that too. Obviously the red zone picks can't happen. But it is what you detailed, late, behind, long. DG isn't, in football vernacular, "throwing receivers open". -
Oregon Ducks Football: Biggest Threat From OSU
30Duck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Very good point. With all the "skill players" on both teams it will be the battle in the trenches that decide this one. One hole opened for the RB to explode could make the difference, and the best pass defender is a pass rush that makes it miserable for the QB, -

A rebuilding Huskies are better than USC. The epic battle for leader of the middle 4th of the B1G is Nov.2 at Husky Stadium.

Only at USC would thinking about firing Riley be ridiculous, what is ridiculous is the writer saying that than going through everything Riley has failed miserably at. A doctor looks at your purple swollen foot. "Looks like multiple fractures. I'll get some tape on it. It'll be fine." USC has a great film school, George Lucas, and the football team has been their star attraction, They do go for the big name & hate rewrites.

ESPN Power Rankings - Ducks No. 2, OSU No. 1
30Duck replied to Desert Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I too have been searching for a bigger game/opportunity than this one & I can't. No.2 Ohio State- No,3 Oregon. Not even is this the biggest game for the two teams, it's the biggest game of the year in college football. With the move to the B1G, this type of game will become just part of the season. Ohio State often wins this type of game, except against Michigan the last three years, The Ducks can announce their presence B1G time with a win.- 1 reply

Oregon Ducks Football: Biggest Threat From OSU
30Duck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Alex, I can't think of another answer, unless with all the attention Smith is getting, it's Emeka Egbuka, who actually has more receptions than Smith. Than of course, with all the attention the WR's are getting, TreVyon Henderson or Quinshon Judkins, find a hole and takes it in for six. So, yes, Oregon and Ohio State coaches are looking at similar tape. It seems like the Ducks are getting more from their TE's. Neither the Ducks or Bucks are turning it over much, so one of those could be a dagger, especially in the red zone. It was great to see Boyle hit that field goal from 50. -
Bo Nix is an "Always a Duck" and he feels that way about his Bronco teammate and another "Always a Duck, Troy Franklin Bo Nix stands up for Troy Franklin, even if everyone will see right through it WWW.SPORTINGNEWS.COM Troy Franklin's horrendous drop prevented his first career touchdown.

Of course, this is the same computer that predicted wins for Alabama and Tennessee. ESPN’s FPI Predicts winner of Ohio State-Oregon SATURDAYTRADITION.COM ESPN's FPI took a stab at projecting who will come out on top in Eugene on Saturday night.

You know, Mario brought that up. But not the linemen downfield or the targeting.

Indiana should be getting the attention that is being showered on Miami. But Miami is, "The U" and Indiana is just having a great season.

My Sunday Game Observations: More Progress Than I Thought...
30Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Have to give credit to a Husky. Brock Huard is a very good analyst. -
Even NCAA basketball during "March Madness" use location in seeding. The advantage that the SEC still enjoys, even in the new, improved Playoff format is maddening.
-
You know, USC is now a Spoiler team. It would be okay if they lost next Saturday. But it would be better if they somehow beat Penn State.
-
So, after enough time that teams can really be evaluated, Oregon is back at No.3, where they started the season.

My Sunday Game Observations: More Progress Than I Thought...
30Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Good eye, Charles, and the last picture had my favorite Duck on the D side. Boettcher is a player I used to see playing on teams that Oregon didn't get. He's not that talented, won't get picked in the first round. But he's a leader, intensity drips off him. He wants to hit somebody on every play. That attitude carries over to the other players. This could be the best defense OBD has ever had, because they attack! This isn't a defense that reacts to the offense, it forces the action, like the SEC does.
