  1. Pre-season rankings, like the Draft at the end of a season, are based on potential, and of course to fill space during the long months until the season starts. There's not a lot of science involved in putting Alabama at No. 1. It's not as good as getting Lanning as the new coach. But getting a QB like Nix, with his experience, at an SEC school, is the second best thing to happen to the Ducks this off-season. If he emerges as the starter, all is good. Should Thompson or Butterfield end up taking the snaps in the ATL, they have instant credibility.
  2. My argument would be that for now, what's good for the conference is good for Oregon. USC being good again doesn't mean that Oregon can't be good, or great, at the same time. In fact, I think it helps both. We may not like it, but while Alabama wins the titles, the SEC is full of good teams, and only play an 8 game schedule. The Pac-12 of course plays 9, making it even more important that the schedule be competitive. It's hard enough for Oregon to get consideration for the Playoff without it looking like their schedule is full of cupcakes. Oregon will benefit greatly if they win the North and face 10-2, 11-1 USC, in the championship game.
  3. No two L team has made it to the Final four. There have been four match-up's of an undefeated and a 1 loss team, it's 2 -2. The first time it happened, "It could've gone either way", Oregon 59 FSU 20. The second time, undefeated LSU, beat Oklahoma. In 2020, undefeated Alabama beat Notre Dame, and last year, eventual champion, Georgia, beat undefeated Cincinnati.
  4. This is right. Jacksonville is in a historic run of bad, and Detroit is Detroit. Too bad for Hutchinson, but Detroit seems to be set on getting the Michigan hero.
  5. I hope this was Justin's last appearance in a Pro Bowl. Players appreciate receiving Pro Bowl recognition, and even more the All Pro designation. But of the 3 All Star Games, it is far and away, the worst. Baseball is actually a game that can be played as it is during the season. NBA has adjusted the rules, and fans are used to a final score in the 200's. But football can't be played in a carefree style.
  6. The only fans that I feel HATES Oregon is Washington, in our forum we've assembled the evidence that manifests the enmity. Unlike Washington, USC actually Is a blueblood, and can resent the new kid, with the fancy uni's, who took the spotlight away from them. As Washington sinks deeper into irrelevance, I look forward to battles with USC.
  7. A big difference here from other Forums is that at the other sites people have a thought post it, and that's it. Here, we are about discussion. We add our thoughts, but are interested in what others have to say, in all of the different topics. This works because we don't all have to think the same way about something.
  8. Now, there was definitely a letdown amongst the Buckeyes last season, and they weren't coming off a Natty. Emotions are definitely going to play a part in this game.
  9. The Ducks can't get more than 1 of the"3" L's out of the next 4. Home games against Cal, Stanford, WSU, and at ASU. Get through that, before home games against the LA schools, and wrapping the season up at Washington and WSU.
  10. Not a matter of anything against Mario, but I don't see Miami dislodging Dabo and Clemson from the top of the ACC, in 4-5 years, they might be competitive.
  11. If any Utah team should hate Oregon, it's the basketball team, it's pretty lopsided there. Football? The games last season should assuage any hostile feelings a Ute has towards a Duck. Yeah, there was the Clay drop, which next to "The Pick" is a play that will be remembered forever. But, along with last season, there was 2015, Utah came to Autzen, beat Oregon, 62-20.
  12. Yeah, I'm really glad that Oregon is on the side it is here. Having to defend or just ignore a coach's behavior must be grueling.
  13. I agree with Prehm's forecast, and it's reachable. Last weekend showed that winning at Utah wasn't a gimmee, as UCLA lost to ASU, in 3 OT. The Bruins had multiple chances to win this one, including having the ball with :20 in the second OT, but couldn't get a good shot.
  14. Riley is the big splash USC needed, and he got Williams to follow him. It looks good now, but the floor and ceiling are very close. USC fans want a championship in 2022.
  15. Justin got his first start by accident, and since then has set record after record. When the Chargers get a defense, not only will he be the best quarterback in the NFL, the Chargers will be winning championships.
  16. The most disappointing game of the season so far was the one just completed, not the worst, that's still the Men's game against BYU. But the Women were coming off the loss to Arizona, and still came out flat. More than any other thing, Oregon was outhustled by ASU. How could ASU have"wanted" that game more?
  17. Right now it seems like "Open Mic Night" for Pac-12 Network announcers.
  18. Give me Oregon offense 2007 before Dixon went down. It was unstoppable.
  19. Oregon gives up the rebound on the missed free throw and foul in the process, nails it for ASU.
  20. The words, "Oregon is staying close" to ASU, should never have to be said.
