  1. Finebaum might have to study up on Hoops, the SEC is a basketball conference now! Of course, Oregon beat Alabama
  2. But they still have "I win, google me", COY! 5 seems about right, I'd prefer 8th or 9th.

  4. The last time the Ducks went to the Final Four was 2016-17. Right now, I'd give that team the edge, but this year's team hasn't reached their ceiling yet. Oregon Ducks Basketball, Jackson Shelstad Protect Perfect Road Record vs. Penn State WWW.SI.COM The Oregon Ducks men’s basketball team capped off their road trip with an 82-81 over the Penn State Nittany Lions. 5. Penn State's coach is angry about the foul that Wasn't called: Penn State men's basketball coach Mike Rhoades, hoarse and frustrated after the Nittany Lions' 82-81 loss to the 15th-ranked Oregon Ducks on Sunday, said he was looking for his team to commit an intentional foul and force free throws with 2 seconds left in regulation. But the foul went uncalled, and Penn State lost its second straight Big Ten game to a ranked team. Afterward, Rhoades explained the finish through a raspy voice. He said he even alerted the officials before Oregon inbounded the ball that his team essentially planned to foul. "We're a pressing team, we deny the ball," Rhoades told reporters in State College after the game. "I told the referees, we're going to be physical before they throw it in, so if they call a foul, they call a foul. I told them." Penn State's Zach Hicks made a 3-pointer with 2 seconds to pull the Nittany Lions within one. Rhoades called a timeout to set up the play to defend Oregon's inbound. On the play, Rhoades thought Puff Johnson had two hands on Oregon's Nate Bittle, who tipped the ball to teammate Jackson Shelstad. The plan was intentional, Rhoades said. He had a play set for the situation, which relied on Oregon shooting free throws. But Penn State didn't get a chance to run it, as Oregon ran out the 2 seconds with possession and no called foul. It was a Hail Mary, but Rhoades was upset at the uncalled foul. "When you put two hands on a player when he catches the ball, I thought in the rules that’s a foul, especially when you know we’re fouling," Rhoades said. "So it should have been a foul. Two hands on the guy with the ball is an automatic foul in college basketball. Period. ... Wasn't called. That's disappointing, but that's life. Life ain't fair." "We choked down the stretch," Rhoades said. "... We hung in there, got a steal, we did things the right way when Zach hit that three, but not good enough." Asked later about the "We choked" comment, Rhoades both clarified and went into further detail. "I love my team, I love these guys, I love how hard they play," Rhoades said. "That’s on me. I take pride in how we finish games, close games especially. That's a 60-minute game. I need to help our guys more. I choked. We choked as a team. You’ve got to win those games, man. You’ve got to find a way to win. But as proud as I am of my guys today, that was an awesome college basketball game, I’m just really pissed that we lost. I didn't come here to lose. And you've got to go through this stuff to get where you want to go, and this hurts. This is a game we could have had. Just how it goes. I’m not going to sugarcoat it. That's a game we could have won, we should have won, we didn't win."
  6. Almost as funny as SEC fan crying about teams "buying players". SEC truly believes a championship isn't valid unless one of their teams wins it.
  7. True. Sometimes, it shouldn't happen, but I think Ref's really call "ticky- tac" fouls just to make sure the players remember they're there.
  8. So true. Paraphrasing Bill Walton & other winners, you win on the road by feeding on the noise and hate from the homecourt fans. Now, to be fair to the MKA crowds they aren't hating on the visiting teams either. It should be great that the next game is at home against Purdue. Fortunately, the games against Michigan & Michigan State are on the road.
  9. The B1G officiating has not hurt the Ducks at all so far this season. The Ohio State fans were positive that the call on Shelstad at the end of a game should have been a charge, which is to be expected from any fanbase when their team loses by a point, and then whatever the situation was with Tracey definitely moving before throwing the inbounds pass at the end of the game against Penn State. It sure seems like a player can move, as he obviously did, and no whistle.
  10. Jackson Shelstad's jumper puts Oregon ahead for good - ESPN Video WWW.ESPN.COM Jackson Shelstad knocks down a jumper with under a minute remaining to give Oregon a win over Penn State.
  11. As you can tell from the predicted scores, we thought Ohio State was going to have a much easier time with Texas than it turned out. Smith didn't play like the Heisman winner I predicted for the next two seasons. Texas was a team that didn't have much of a SoS and lost to Georgia twice. It sure looked Ohio State, after the Tennessee game and crushing Oregon in the Rose Bowl, had reached a level that Texas would only be able to look up at.
  12. It is, and I believe are a large part of what goes into a NET rating, which is very confusing. Going into today's games Arizona is 10-5, with a Quad1 record of 2-5, yet their NET ranking is 14. Maryland, who Oregon beat, is 12-4, Quad1 record of 2-3, and NET is 20, Above Oregon who, before the Penn State game, is 14-2, Quad1 6-2 and a NET of 21?
  13. Oregon's last 7 games are 4 at home, 3 on the road, and the last road game is the last game of conference play, at Washington. Turns out the Pac-12 teams play each other twice and the other teams once.
  14. Sandy Rocks, you were right! In the last 3 games Shelstad has been everything the Ducks have needed, just like Pritchard was, with a DEEP 3 pointer when needed, and just the way he and the Ducks are cold blooded at the end of games.
  15. They were when the came from behind, and with a 21 point swing, Oregon up 14, then Penn State up 7, I could understand. But they weren't against giving the Ducks credit, especially noting that Oregon is very comfortable in tight games at the end. Ducks get a B1G Road Sweep, and hand Penn State its first home loss.
  16. Great to be up at halftime for a change, should be by more than 7. The first 5 minutes of the 2nd half will go a long way in determining who wins.
  17. In terms of never getting over it, creating chills just thinking about it, 2012 Stanford & NC Auburn 2010 are leaps above any other games on the list. 2025 Rose Bowl goes into the trash heap, along with a movie, "Eye of the Beholder" that I was actually glad to have had a screeching migraine during, it was so bad. Cameron Colvin does have a select place in my memory, is he a "Once a Duck, Always a Duck"?
  18. A great sports day for Duck fans. Start with Bo and the Broncos, moves right into basketball with No.15 Oregon against Penn State, then to cap it off, Bucky Irving and the Bucs take on the Commanders.

  20. Minnesota defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman has resigned his post with the Gophers and will accept the same position at Miami, sources told ESPN's Pete Thamel on Saturday, confirming a report.
  21. This losing streak for the Bruins is hurting the Ducks. The loss was bad enough, but now it's looking worse and is bringing the Ducks' NET down.
  22. This game could actually be worse than the last Playoff game for the Chargers, when they blew a 27-0 lead at halftime.
  23. Emulating the NBA is ridiculous. I haven't followed it in years, and attendance and ratings are down. Load management is a big part of the lack of interest, and of course the season is way too long. The All-Star game, after being 200-200 the last couple of seasons is now going to be some kind of bizarre game without teams. The Dunk competition was exciting 20 years ago, but lately no player anyone would recognize enters anymore.
  24. TD, Herbert to McConkey, the extra point is blocked and run back fo2 by Houston. 25-12.
