A 12 team would have worked, if not for the appeasement of the Commish's to award the Automatic Byes to the conference champs. Someone earlier noted that in the ironically called "March Madness" format, CC's are in, but not necessarily as a top seed. The CFP format completely devalues what Oregon accomplished this season. They are clearly No.1, their path to the championship should reflect that. Depth should be a part of what it takes to be the champion, barring a catastrophic injury, the best team will emerge.

Games are often seen as measuring sticks during a season, those games for Indiana were struggling against Michigan and getting blown out by an osu2 team with major issues, not running up the score on a woefully bad Purdue.

This is a fascinating question. If it happened this season, but OBD went on to win the Natty. UW would have the satisfaction of beating the Champ, which they would conflate that to them being co-champions, that's how they get them there.

As expected, a lot of former players of Belichik on the Patriots were interviewed about this, and one of them mentioned how he was coaching his high school players and he was going on and on, then he realized, "these kids have no idea what I'm talking about, I was using terms that Bill used when he was talking to us." You got that right. Winning the Heisman has been the last thing on Gabriel's mind all season, making the decisions, executing the plays to get his team to 13-0 took priority. The player I would rather have been nominated for the Heisman, but wasn't, was Tyler Warren. He scared me the whole game! He also played multiple positions, on a team that made the CFP.

So far, Lanning has bested Day & Franklin, I see a match-up coming between Lanning and Dilly, that will be good experience for Dilly. Lanning against Dabo would be interesting and of course another game between Oregon and Georgia would be for the Nattty. It would be epic.
