  1. It's amazing how the outlook has changed around Duck Football from 10 short months ago.....Progrum Management overall is vastly improved and the results are showing.
  2. Based on what I have read and heard (and seen), there is evidence that the LB corps is underperforming. PFF and NCAA metrics are cited by those making this argument. I think Mr. FishDuck has hit on the main reasons why. Like the OP, I was jazzed to see Sewell and Flowe play together and am equally shocked by the underperformance. At the start of the season, I thought "Finally the Ducks don't have talented undersized LB's....we have a tandem of 5-star Monsters of the MIdway!" I guess the good news is that Flowe may come back for one more season at this point....unless he goes ballistic the rest of the way, which wouldn't be bad for OBD at all! Add me to the list of the dumbfounded.
  3. How many more Miami games is Portland's Riley Williams going to watch before he transfers back to Central Catholic from Miami IMG and decommits from Mario? Credit to Matt Prehm at 247 for dangling this enticing possibility.
  4. Beat me to it.....the new-NCAA has a very Peter Lorre vibe about it.
  5. Chip caught a lot of people off guard......
  6. Watching Tennessee-Bama and the officials are leaving the flags in their pockets. While the flow of the game is good, a couple of uncalled penalties were of the targeting variety and fairly egregious. While the flag-happy PAC-12 officials drive me nuts, these SEC guys may be too lenient from a player safety standpoint. To the credit of the coaches and players, both sidelines have remained calm.
  7. Duly noted. And apologies to any offended.
  8. I hope he sticks around and Dontae Moore is his next QB
  9. Giving to OHSU guarantees the money goes directly to research and treatments. Giving to a non-profit pays the salaries of the non-profit first.
  10. This will probably make me persona non grata but... The awareness month schtick has outplayed its usefulness. When every month is labeled (fill in the blank) Month it becomes perfunctory. Also, breast cancer research is already extremely well-funded. But, the deadliest cancers have a fraction of the funding that breast cancer does. So, if we're going to do this, let's just have "Cancer Awareness" and then there's no need for pink uniform embellishments and we can help even more people. Win-win. Many of the deadliest cancers receive the least amount of research funding NEWS.NORTHWESTERN.EDU ‘Embarrassing’ or stigmatized cancers like lung and liver are underfunded
  11. Thanks Ktmguy for taking the time to fill me in.....sounds like an upgrade in scheme and technique is sparking the improvement. This staff has elevated the quality of play dramatically so far.
  12. There were times last night when Gonzo seemed to play a nickel spot with 2 CB's? But I don't trust my old eyes to say so for sure
  13. USC is going to lose in SLC next week.
  14. I thought Manning was really starting to play well before the targeting penalty. Then, Florence came in and didn't drop off at all. Reps are all he needs.
  15. Both Oregon & UCLA are stout against the run and stack up running yards when they have the ball. Something has got to give in Autzen in two weeks.
  16. I am not sure if it is Dilly's scheme or Klemm's development (likely both by degrees) that is more responsible for the significant improvement in the running game so far?
  17. Nice recap DZNC...thanks for writing it up! I lean War Pigs reference myself.....in case you're doing a survey. Music with instruments is a plus for me.
  18. Balance, wiggle, burst and likes contact. Bucky ball.
  19. A ponder point perhaps? Alliteration always amazes.
  20. In the terms of this thread, I must prefer a leach interview to a Saban one because I will turn up the volume when The Pirate is speaking but I won't for Saban. He's like Howard Stern in the 90's: The number one reason why people who loved him and hated him listened was the same: To see what he would say next. Saban is a top quality ball coach. Leach is a damn good college coach who would really prefer to have a late night talk show. In a past life, he was a carnival barker who also emceed the burlesque show I have no doubt.
  21. And Arroyo now has UNLV scoring after a couple of years rebuilding.....
  22. 300 yards of rushing and winning TOP would go a long way towards the W
  23. It is a baffling phenomenon. The 'Glass Cannon' moniker says it all. I think of guys like Patrick Chung who seemingly played every down of football possible in college and the NFL.....and then there are the Canton K's, Curtis White's and numerous Blazer centers over the years that have tons of promise, but cannot stay out of the training room.
  24. Currently, UCLA is higher rated than Utah on my Disgust Index.
