  1. I am not sure if it is Dilly's scheme or Klemm's development (likely both by degrees) that is more responsible for the significant improvement in the running game so far?
  2. Nice recap DZNC...thanks for writing it up! I lean War Pigs reference myself.....in case you're doing a survey. Music with instruments is a plus for me.
  3. Balance, wiggle, burst and likes contact. Bucky ball.
  4. A ponder point perhaps? Alliteration always amazes.
  5. In the terms of this thread, I must prefer a leach interview to a Saban one because I will turn up the volume when The Pirate is speaking but I won't for Saban. He's like Howard Stern in the 90's: The number one reason why people who loved him and hated him listened was the same: To see what he would say next. Saban is a top quality ball coach. Leach is a damn good college coach who would really prefer to have a late night talk show. In a past life, he was a carnival barker who also emceed the burlesque show I have no doubt.
  6. And Arroyo now has UNLV scoring after a couple of years rebuilding.....
  7. 300 yards of rushing and winning TOP would go a long way towards the W
  8. It is a baffling phenomenon. The 'Glass Cannon' moniker says it all. I think of guys like Patrick Chung who seemingly played every down of football possible in college and the NFL.....and then there are the Canton K's, Curtis White's and numerous Blazer centers over the years that have tons of promise, but cannot stay out of the training room.
  9. Currently, UCLA is higher rated than Utah on my Disgust Index.
  10. Careful, man, I have a beverage here....
  11. Reminds me of when we were ill-prepared and lacking the proper attitude. Strange days, indeed.
  12. Helfrich era recruiting was hampered by Kelly's violations no doubt. But Don Pellum was recruiting coordinator who whiffed badly on social media adoption and that made things worse.
  13. I think showboating is now "generating brand awareness" or some such bovine excrement.
  14. As a fan who knows nothing, except what I learn here, I would love to see Bassa at Safety with Sewell and Flowe at ILB's.
  15. Nick Aliotti on PAC-12 After Dark: 1. Oregon has had difficult games in Tucson (understatement of the year) 2. If they start slow with penalties and drops like against Stanford, they could be challenged. 3. If deLaura has a Cam Ward game and #2 happens, all bets are off. My thoughts: 1. I am less worried about penalties and discipline, but still worried, because we have a scoring offense again. 2. I am less worried about penalties and discipline, but still worried, because in addition to coaches who like scoring, we have coaches who can scheme, adjust and motivate properly. 3. Thankfully, our coaches highlighted transfers who make an impact. Without the DL, RB, and QB transfers, we would be toast. 4. Related to #3, if we lose Nix to injury.....fuhgeddaboutit.....so Bo, slide please. Freakin dude plays like an LB. 5. My gut tells me that the amount of plays in a Duck uniform that Justin Flowe ever has will be very limited. Some guys have injury bugs while other guys never get a scratch. Bassa is excellent, but LB health is now an official concern for me. Hope to H, E, double hockey sticks, I'm wrong.
  16. Amazing the lengths we go isn't it? My wife insists on Turner Classic Movies. And, I pay the extra for that one channel with a big, fat smile on my face.
  17. My thoughts have been articulated better by previous posters so I won't dilute the soup by rehashing. I did feel the need to add my voice to chorus of gratitude for the articles (current and previous) linked here and the subsequent discussion. Top shelf stuff.
  18. In the NIL/transfer portal/coach carousel/new media era why wouldn't you take every trip possible? Collect as many swag bags, booster bucks, free trips, and Tweets as possible. Build your brand, TCBin', YOLO and all that is the name of the game nowadays, or so I have been told many times in defense of these changes.
  19. The old model of "sign and develop" can work if you have a pipeline of talent and coaching consistency. Like a BYU for example. The new model of pay through the nose for a 5 Star is expensive (which comes with opportunity costs) and relies on good recruit analysis skills by coaches. With the portal, you can buy insurance for your QB strategy either way, so it's going to be a solid option until the market dynamics change. Assuming DL, KD and Co. stick around for a half decade, I am cool with them swinging for the fences on 5 star QB's they like (I trust their player analysis chops) but am happy with 4 stars augmented by transfer vets as needed.
  20. DL has said that the benefit of a deep RB room is that you can ride the hot hand while other guys recharge. Keep fresh legs on the bench. Cardwell and others will get carries....it's a long season.
  21. I took an Italian course for travelers one summer. It was packed with demur retirees with soft-spoken personalities. After the first week, the instructor showed us some Italian TV clips and excoriated us to use our hands, feet, and eyebrows to accentuate the every syllable. The level of Italian rose dramatically after that. For help with German, watch Hogan's Heroes and then Downfall.
  22. I read your post, Charles and realized "Hey that sounds familiar!" I did the exact same thing that day.....who knows we may have been standing right next to one another. I am ashamed at my behavior when the Ducks are losing. I am an irredeemable quack addict.
  23. Wait until basketball season when PAC-12 officiating makes 40 minute games last 2.5 hours and kills all game flow. #deargodpleaseswallowyourwhistle
