  1. I'd like to see the Ducks wear dark green (almost black) unis with last names and numbers only for every game.....only rotating helmets between white, yellow and green. Kinda old school Penn St but updated.
  2. Charles and I have the same wicked mind.....when I read that I thought: This is my rifle, this is my gun.....
  3. Nice article Bruce....Hayward is going to be a tough place for other squads to win.
  4. RichardDuck perfectly summed up my thoughts on the article....this is a de rigeur Canzano fluff piece, but there are some interesting thoughts it sparks. Naturally, he pursues none of them. It seems the mood/culture has changed under George. That's good. If Ted Kaczynski had shown up, he may well have done that much. The key as Steven A mentioned is the media rights deal. And here is where I am glad we have someone like George K. with a media background. Right, so he may not have collegiate administration experience. In my humble opinion, leadership in today's NCAA requires expertise like navigating the world of broadcast media, evaluating streaming modalities, and strategic sports marketing (including NIL) to make the best deals for the PAC12 in the next half decade.
  5. Have heard on a podcast that the new offer is a longer term prospect due to playing behind a 5-star, COVID season, and an injury in HS. Apparently has all the tools, but needs reps due to HS circumstances. Speculation is that the Ducks take 2 QB's in 23 and this guy won't scare off a more polished classmate, like a Rashada.
  6. Let's pass the collection plate to help out in our eternal struggle with The Jimbo
  7. Given this clearly significant finding why is WSU widely considered a threat in the North for so many next season? Coaching, the Second Coming of the Throwin' Samoan, 'gimmicky' schemes, Keith Jackson Factor, Gameday Flag Karma....?
  8. Whenever I see a dirndl, I get a memory pang for air redolent with the smell of cheese fondue.
  9. Yep, thanks, Charles. I had missed one of those articles so it was great to read it now. It is the one regarding Coach's "Hard Progrum" and the impact on possible transfer, even 5 stars. Which is music to my ears. While the last HC was undoubtedly a great recruiter, that was largely contingent upon the ratings services' rankings. I am not saying he didn't do his own evals but I think his emphasis on stars may have been to the detriment of his willingness to confront athletes who didn't completely buy-in or go the extra mile. When I read DL talk about the "de-recruitment process" I was encouraged. We have to be willing to lose some high profile kids that coach thinks may not pan out. Better to have an understanding and move on early than to hold a rated 4 star player for going on 5 seasons now, who has played 3 downs of football on the field while never being on the injured list. Glad to have a coach who gets that in the awards before results era.
  10. I'm with Mudslide. I was born and raised in Portland and still have a home here. Different place than it was growing up obviously. Between then and now, I lived in Eugene, Bend, Orlando, Dallas, Chicago, and in Shanghai, Strasbourg, Luzern, and Vienna. Work has taken me to 73 countries. I hit 60 in 2025 and will retire to the Oregon Coast and spend winters in western Austria. Nothing beats Christmas Season in the Alps.
  11. Both Kellen and AJ Feeley had lengthy NFL careers somewhat unexpectedly to me. Akili, Joey, Dennis and VA on the other hand had shorter careers than I expected for them each individually. Mariota and Justin have yet to finish their scripts.
  12. alfa romeo giulia spider veloce 1965. or, Austin Powers' Shaguar
  13. Interesting line. If Oregon airs it out against Utah like they did in the second half of the bowl game, given the OSU success against the Utes defense in the Rose Bowl, maybe the thinking goes that we play them tougher and win one of those games? Add in KT's comments about the team's lack of focus given Mario's impending departure, the loss of Utes LB's, and the Lanning Era reboot, a guy could talk himself into the Duck's winning the Pac-12 title next year over SC and Utah.
  14. If he can improve to 8-3 next year, maybe they get back to the Cheez-It Bowl? Mario returning to the U? Is it closer to Frost returning to Lincoln or Harbaugh to Meatchicken?
  15. Oregon Ducks safety Daymon David enters transfer portal WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM David had tackles while playing in nine games last season. Seems like the Ducks are thin on the back end of this defense? Scoop has played well in practice but is one of those guys who can't shake the injury bug.
  16. True. And I think social media has enhanced the delusion. Because the narrative now starts in early high school, with scouts, recruiters, and handlers all looking to be on the kid early to buttress their bona fides or cement themselves as one of the entourage. I that sense, I do feel sorry for anyone caught up in the hype tornado. Imagine the type of grounding it would require to navigate that world. I like DL's "growth mindset" because it implies there is work to be done. Like the "de-recruiting" process I have heard inklings about as well. Coach DL is highly emotionally intelligent it seems to me. Especially compared to Mari's (no O) tough guy persona which didn't seem to emphasize development much. His approach seemed to be one of providing an opportunity (a schollie) to kids ranked highly by agencies and "scouts" and then leaving it up to them to maximize their potential without any support, encouragement, or tweaking of schemes to take advantage of team and individual strengths.
  17. I agree with this 100%. The future is always uncertain and I will enjoy those sports immensely as long as they are holding games!
  18. Could there be more players than fans at that scrimmage? I think we will look back at the 1996-2021 years as a distinct era with the 85-scholarship limit and NIL as bookends of that era. 85 schollies leveled the playing field as much as possible. NIL deconstructs that system. In that 25 years, the Ducks record against the Dawgs was 20-5. After the dark decades of the 70's and 80's, I achieved nirvana. I have no idea what's next. I will continue to tune in as long as I am interested in the college football product. Not sure that will be much longer. I have no illusions that I will be missed.
  19. There will be some roster churn until Fall Camp is over. Between the new staff, late enrollees, NIL and transfer portal....and, God forbid, injuries.....it's likely to be sizeable. I'd put the over/under at 7.
