Whoa! A New GOLD Variation on the Eggshell Uniform?
David Marsh replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
We did bees! Well we did what I call the bumblebee look in 2014... I personally like these uniforms as far as black uniforms go for Oregon. -
Young’s Instagram Now Shows a Commitment to…
David Marsh replied to AllOregon's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Thanks Charles... This is the Moore commitment but I do feel Young is teasing us pretty hard and I think it may be genuine at the end of the day. -
Where I Think it Ends at Least for the Present...
David Marsh replied to mrspenney's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Conference realignment takes a lot more time than we all think. We only see the big moves and announcements. But those take months of discussions to reach those points. We are all waiting on ND for better or worse right now. -
Oregon Trending for OT/DT Star in Texas
David Marsh replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Getting a big is always important and star ratings are I think the most difficult to figure out for the majority of the big guys. There is one thing that can't be taught and that is raw physical size. So many of these big guys need to get to college and get the proper nutrition and weight training for them to really start to reach their potential. Some have it in high school but they are rare and those are the ones who are the five stars. -
Whoa! A New GOLD Variation on the Eggshell Uniform?

I think it is the same uniform but the lighting is doing something to it make it look a little different color wise. -
It was over for the Ducks as soon as he announced his transfer to IMG for his senior year. In truth it was probably done before that anyways.

Ducks Make Another Top 10, I Think Thats All of Them.

And every other stadium on that list is at least double the size of Autzen. Fear the Duck! We all know USC already does. -
Ducks in Top 10, Team Recruiting Rankings
David Marsh replied to Log Haulin's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
And they ran to the B1G... And let's see how well that works for them... And I'd Oregon follows them to continue to haunt them. Kinda funny how this school in the middle of nowhere Oregon is causing USC so many problems. But I think we all love it. -
Yes. They were let down by a rigid offensive scheme that made everyone worse. The running backs were running downhill into linemen... The offensive line had to block some incredibly obvious gaps which resulted in the defense loading the box. This resulted in minimal gains and both runningback and offensive linemen looking bad. And then the defense ... I don't know why it underperformed as bad as it did early in the 2021 season when the team was at it's healthiest. Too many underneath routes were left open which allowed for easy outs for the quarterback and didn't allow for the pass rush to get home. And I didn't even get started on a lack of good receivers for 2018-2019 for Herbert and then the growth of a receiver corp that did t have a QB to pass to them. Ughhh...

Some strong hints that Young is next. This could be the best Oregon recruiting class ever....

This is big and now we also just gained a big recruiter for this class. I think our chances for some other big recruits just improved.

Washington's Recruiting? Omigosh!
David Marsh replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
true.. and that explains the second half of the year... but not really the first game. Granted this topic is probably a thread of its own. -
Washington's Recruiting? Omigosh!
David Marsh replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I believe he was constrained as well... But you would think with someobe like Cristobal who is all about physicality that it would have been a hard-nosed heavy blitzing defense designed around taking out the quarterback. Instead it was bend but don't break... Just seems weird to me. -
Washington's Recruiting? Omigosh!

I'm also super confused why DeRuyter's defense was pretty pathetic last year. He has the history of being a pretty good DC and yet our defense was pretty poor. Avalos fielded a strong defense in 2019 and we'll 2020 was a super big mess with a mixture of lots of youth and vets leaving in drives both.expectabtly and unexpectedly. But 2021 should have seen auch stronger defense out the gate. Later in the year there were loads of injuries but game one and three (against Stoneybrook) were aweful... And it didn't get much better. -

But how well does current UW talent mesh with that DeBoer wants to do? That is the biggest question. When Taggart took over and then Cristobal a lot of players suddenly found themselves not fitting with the new scheme. Same goes for when Lanning took over but those players had a better out with the transfer portal. I think one of the more "iconic" players who got caught up in coaching changes was Brady Breeze. He was brought in under the Helfrich era and fit the defensive scheme... As bad as that scheme was anyways... Then Taggart and Leavitt changed the scheme and Breeze found himself lower on the depth chart. The Avalos was hired and Breeze fit the scheme so well that he was able to elevate himself overnight. He put on a show and showed just how good he could be. So raw talent alone doesn't matter if it's not used well. But we all know how well Cristobal performed even when he had a chance to build his roster. Here's to more Ls for the Huskies! -
And I'll just jump up and down and say this one more time (then I'll stop I promise!) Oregon is not a direct corilation to it's media market footprint. Yeah the state of Oregon isn't that big but Oregon is national. Also Oregon has averaged more views for the last ten years over any other PAC team, including the LA teams and last year Oregon surpassed all other PAC teams by a wide margin. Oregon is, as always, different. The ratings don't lie, Oregon stretches beyond it's footprint.

Reports Suggest Oregon, Washington Unlikely to Join Big Ten
David Marsh replied to Triphibius's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
That's only partially true... Because if it was strictly about eyeballs then Oregon would already have a B1G invite because we average the most views of any PAC game over the last decade. Oregon just lacks a defined media market to pair with those views. Certainly views is one criteria but it's not the only one. -

It will be at most one trip to LA in a season and it will be seen as great fun because it will be warm and sunny. So in that regard .. they care in a positive way not a negative. -
This sounds like it could be the first step to the creation of the Coastal Conference (with some teams in between). It seems crazy from a geography stand point to have a conference (or linked conferences) that are on opposite coasts but I like this a whole lot more than the alternatives. I wouldn't mind throwing in Oklahoma State and maybe Texas Tech to give a Oklahoma and Texas footprint... Both are worth more than adding mountain west schools. It does leave a void in southern California but I think that is something we are just going to have to live with. Player travel wise this is oddly enough a better deal as well than the B1G because there are west and east coast sections that will play each other with only a few cross over games. So a few longet road trips but USC and UCLA will be spending a whole lot more time traveling. As Nebraska is their closest school. Granted... Joining the B1G is probably still the best option for Oregon but I can live with the PAC-ACC

And Auburn tigers. They really need to add Clemson and just have a Tigers pod in the SEC. -
Are We Even Sure Things Are That Bad?
David Marsh replied to The Kamikaze Kid's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The funny thing is that since 2011 an LA school hasn't been the cause of Oregon not making a bigger and better post season game. You could even argue that as in 2011 that Oregon already had one loss and weren't natty bound. Otherwise if Oregon didn't make a better post season game it was because Oregon tripped up on some other team along the way. -
Reports Suggest Oregon, Washington Unlikely to Join Big Ten
David Marsh replied to Triphibius's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I'm just not convinced that many Big-12 schools would actually want to join. I'm not opposed to grabbing the big remaining schools left in the big-12 but I'm not sure they'd want to. Also I'm not sure how us Ducks and the Beavers would feel about being in a league with schools with either similar colors or the same colors as us. Oklahoma State and Oregon State are both black and orange. And we'll Baylor is dark green and gold .. Oregon is green and yellow (certainly not gold) -

That goes for a large portion of California regardless. It is a pro sports media market. -

We are all thinking that but I don't think anyone at USC or UCLA cares... Well the players might but they don't count.
