Possibly 4. Moore, Young, Hicks, UIag and a reclasification of ......Jurion Dickey. That makes 5.. Yep, I may be wearing green colored glasses, but thats how I see it. Samson Okun is the only other one out there. Dare I say 6? That's asking too much. Or....is it? -

Well said. I can't help but think that creating two conferences with power names will create mediocre records. Yes, they will still be awesome, but eventually, USC, UM, tOSU, and the likes will leave a season being 10-2 champs more times than not. The beauty of the sport is that a UCF can rise up and go undefeated and catch lightening In a bottle. But, will the brand of CFB be irreparably damaged if only two conferences are the only ones with a shot? The opportunity missed here is that conference championships should be an automatic qualifier. Every school should be able to catch lightening in a bottle. David vs Goliath. It is whats 'Right' about CFB. Now its becoming just top tier. This is what I love about CFB. Not quality teams with NFL laden squads, but Boise State getting up for an Oregon team or Alabama for that matter. Thats whats 'Right' about CFB. Sadly, this kind of FB is being squeezed out. Just sad.

5-5* left that have Oregon as a high choice. All 'Warm' in their interest for Oregon.
-
Next 10 recruits will average 4.25* boiiiiiii. This will result in a top 10 class possibly top 5
-
3 hrs and counting. This kind of recruit, 5* QB, and in the early stages of recruiting, tends to open the flood gates to the top 10 talent of each position. I don't believe DL will need to find the diamonds in the rough as much as past Coaching staffs have had to do. The 4*/5* will be lining up in droves. This brings me to the ultimate goal. NC's and the path that needs to be traveled to get there. If Oregon stays in the PAC, the path to undefeated seasons is much clearer and that in turn opens the doors to the playoffs. It's time to Kick the Pig!

Ducks a Top-10 Brand per High-School Recruits
1Funduck replied to Steven A's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
What a Crock! Mario did not unseat USC. USC was unseated 15 years ago when Carroll left. Oregon has been to the NC twice since then. No, Mari⁰ had nothing to do with unseating US&C. -
UCLA and USC are gone. Thats all but been determined. The remaining value of the conference sits around $300 million. How do we increase the revenue per team with an expansion? Texas Tech, Baylor, Oklahoma St, (Kansas or Houston)? Can this quad increase the value by $30+ million per team? Can we get to $40 million per team? What teams can make that happen and still have a Super Conference?
-
Think I would rather join the B1G for a 20% discount. We could take $70-$80 million and be just fine. $35 million is a joke. Or how about obliterate all remaining three conferences and pull a powerful super conference from the ashes. Oregon, UW, UM, FSU, Clemson, TT, Utah, Colorado, UNC, and 7 others. Of course media markets must reign.
-
Or two super conferences of 20 and 16. Its not just all about specific team revenue. Its the Market they are in as well. Clemson, FSU, The U, and Va Tech covers most of the eastern seaboard. Would ESPN rework the ACC contact for the likes of the top programs from the remaining conferences? One would think.
-
The ACC is a viable option. ESPN would rework the deal if it all of a sudden had a super conference at the table. Also, if ESPN was the instigator

Big Ten Finishes With Notre Dame and...Oregon?
1Funduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
My head hurts... -
Those two points are not cohesive. Getting a media deal independent of the PAC is not plausible, is it? I'm bringing this up due to the driving force for all, is money. How can Oregon stay in the PAC and receive a lower pay out? We need to leave our hearts at the door on this one. It truly doesn't matter. If there is a Media deal to be made, then Washington and Oregon will demand a higher percentage. The PAC has $0 clout now. If they want any semblance of the PAC to be retained, then it's going to have to divvy up the cash disproportionately to the heavy weights for football. No, it's not WSU or UA.

Clearly in Left Field...The PAC Retains All Schools
1Funduck replied to 1Funduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Logistics do not matter one bit. See USX and UCL&A. ND will or won't go and the B1G will still want to field 4 teams regardless. Which 4 teams add the biggest clout? ND, Oregon, UW, and...? It's going to take some work to keep the pac around and with it Oregon. -
Technically, yes. The B1G could grab a few Pac teams and make a West coast division and if would be relatively a PAC vs B1G in the Rose Bowl for the Conference championship. Not much difference huh?
-
I haven't seen so much written interest for a fan site... like.... ever! Pretty incredible. The more I think about this cat'astrophy, (that's for you Charles), the more I am warming up to it. I have known for 10+ years that we are all going to Super Conferences, I just thought it was going to be the PAC leading the way. I didn't think of it as arrogance, but more like geographically hopeful. Of course, money drives it all. However, I just want what's been built over these last 30+ years to not fade into obscurity. Oregon has literally risen from The Toilet (bowl) and now battles for a conference crown each and every year. While there is a path to keeping the PAC solvent, I'm left with feeling it will be an also ran conference. How does The PAC remain relevant? We just got noticeably weaker, like 40% weaker by money, eyeballs, and team strength. How does The PAC maintain and even possibly grow into one of the major 4? The Big 12 seems to be the logistical answer, but I hate it. Outside of Texas schools, where is the prominence of any team associated with the Big 12? How about the ACC? Same problem but add another time zone. There is a solution in my mind.... no laughing. Maybe it's time for 'The Super American Conference'. 24-32 teams in 4 pods. The PAC Pod stays the same but boots Utah and Colorado. Combine the left overs of The PAC, The Big 12, and the ACC to create 8 team pods. With 32 teams then this conference becomes a monster. You play everyone in your 'Pod' and 1 team from each 'Pod' every year. This covers the dreaded travel issue and helps the schollies among minorities as well. Even as I write this, I hate it. I hate everything about this shake up. I am warming to the idea, but only because I have no choice in the matter. The cold reality is that Oregon would most likely do the best, at least for the fans, in the B1G. Oregon/UM, Oregon/ND, or Oregon/OSU in Autzen every 4th year sounds incredible. But, can't we just poach Miami, Florida State, Clemson, Baylor, Houston, Ok.St, along with 4 others, and make an East West Conference? Play your division and 1 team from the other side. What do I know? I need another cup of coffee.

How Does New 'Pac10' Affect Oregon's 2023 Recruiting Class
1Funduck replied to DanLduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Worst case scenario, USC and UCLA will have a regional game or two 'OOC'. Oregon would be able to play them every 3-4 years. -
Realignment: Forcing a Round Peg, Square Hole…
1Funduck replied to CalBear95's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Title IX is about to get front and center. Pretty hard for a traveling School. Not so much for the SEC. This is going to get beyond confusing. -
So, let's get creative with some absurd ideas. What happens now that the PAC is about to get Whacked? There is an outlier here. ESPN. Hear me out. USC and UCLA are wanting to bolt for more cash. Basically $100 million of it. But, what happens if ESPN, which needs a West Coast market, comes a calling with a monster deal? Grab the likes of Baylor, Oklahoma State and 2 other Texas schools, and get your Monster contract. Can we get $80-$100 million per school if we get the Texas market added? Does OSU, and the like, take a bit of a financial hit due to logistical obscurity? Is this even possible? Ramblings of a discombobulated Duck....

I have been a strong supporter of cultural bindings. However, it just doesn't matter anymore. There can be a semblance of cultural leanings with the BIG but the Mega conferences have 'chosen' to not look at that metric as the primary mitigating factor. $100 million buys a lot of blue chip universities no matter the academics. I feel everyone's pain as I have it as well. But, we can no longer accept all the aligning factors that have kept the PAC cohesive. Academics mean nearly $0, at least from a conference alignment perspective.
-
Oregons ability to compete is not in question. I believe they jump to top 4 pretty quick. Whether that be The Big 10/11/12/16/20 or the SEC
