  1. Getting too emotional on any given play can distract a bit too long. It can take you off your next play mentally. It also smacks of Individualism in probably the most 'team' sport. A hard fought game, thats close, with 2 minutes left and a go ahead score is something to release your energy about. What I believe should be standard con'duck'd is 1) excitement for a spectacular play---not first down 2) dancing to "Shout" with the fans. Everyone in the stadium is doing it, not just the students 3) keep your mouth shut to opposing players 'after the whistle'. Getting in their head before the snap is part of it. 4) Show your loyalty to your 'Team' by not being undisciplined with 'Personal Fouls'. It's incredibly selfish and cost Oregon 11 points minimum last night. Oregon looks like a team that could crush all but 3-5 teams in all of FBS. They just aren't disciplined enough to do it yet. Not crisp enough, not clean enough. It looks like they are playing sand lot football some of the time, more than normal. Also, BONIX has a weakness, he throws the deep ball waaaay too late. He has receivers that consistently outran their defenders, then BONIX would throw, should be, interceptions twice last night into double coverage. Throw the stinking ball 2 seconds after snap to the sideline 40 yds down, thats his consistent limit of accuracy, the field and let the fastest guys chase it down. These are TD's cooking in the pot waiting to be served up. I'm sure Lanning saw that and will implement ASAP.
  2. Looks like we need superb athletes on the D line to make it sing. Smart and fast athletes in the secondary
  3. The clearest path to the playoffs is staying right here in the PAC. Playoff money with conference payout could be close to B1G money and a clearly difficult path to the playoffs.
  4. Big Ten's pursuit of Oregon, Washington, Stanford, Cal could collapse Pac-12: report 247SPORTS.COM ...
  5. For the last 20+ years of my love affair with CFB, I haven't been much of a fan of transfer QB's. I prefer developing the diamonds in the ruff. But, it has become increasingly clear in recent years, and this year especially, that I am seriously out of tune. 7 teams in the PAC have transfer QB's lighting it up and it's making the PAC highly respectable. This makes me wonder, why weren't they utilized at their previous school? Tyler Van Dyke is the case study for my argument. Last year he is lights out but this year he gets benched against Middle Tennessee???? Coaching is the problem. You don't have a world beater digress like that unless you shackle him. How long does he stay at THE U? Not long one would think. Bo Nix turns into an average QB under Auburns system, transfers into an offense, and OC that understands his strengths, and has a career day last Saturday???? Well, well, well.... To be sure, I prefer developing your own recruits. But, there is no denying a player being spurned by his former team but put in a system that identifies his strength and is willing to maximize their personnel. Mariø is stubborn, Van Dyke won't stay around unless Mariø adjusts. I'm guessing the system stays but Van Dyke doesn't. Just sad....
  6. I think something is missed in the discussion of streaming and time starts. We tend to think of fans in the radius of attending at Autzen. What's missed is fans around the world that aren't in love with watching the game at 5:00am, but that's them apples. One would surmise that Oregon fans record those games and watch at a later time anyway if they can get it in the first place. Now add 'Prime Video' or AppleTV, and you stream it anywhere in the world on your phone. Watch it anytime even years down the road. It's readily accessible. Do those fans care about start times? Nope. However, I see the point made by so many here, cheeks in the seats looks way better than empty stadiums. Getting home at midnight is tough no doubt. But, I must say, I loooove the occasional night game in September early October. Night games have a different atmosphere. Tailgating is waaay different. I applaud 1-2 night games in the first half of the season. Last half? Not so much. It's colder and potentially wetter, (it never rains at....) and that just adds to the increased difficulty in heading home. I would love to see a streaming media deal that becomes a full partner with the PAC network. All sports and a clear Marqui game from each team. Pay outs based on linked viewers. The NFL has what, 17 games streaming for Thursday's? We could have 3 each week minimum, possibly 5 during conference play for a total of 45 games in conference and 30 non con. That's for football alone. Throw in some Men's Bball and we have around another 180 games. Women's is another 180 games. Baseball and all the other sports just adds more. The money sports are 435 games minimum. Throw in the playoffs and Bowl games and that's more frosting to our cake. How much goes to streaming? But the content is not paltry. Another thing, Oregon is a Brand. People in New York don't care about any team from New York. Oregon, with good marketing and favorable time slots, would show well on the east coast. People who want to watch a specific game could set to stream their 'line up'. Now, if only to get rid of the annoying scoring updates running at the bottom of my screen. I want to watch my recorded game and not be burned with the end score. I can get the highlights at the end of the day.
  7. I'm glad Travis is doing well. I'm also happy that he has put family first. Thats an exceptional move in a world that seems to be so selfish. He may take a bit of vile from Oregon fans but he gets a Big thumbs up in my book. Way to go TD for making the next career move to better your family.
  8. "'....it's just too difficult to recruit to Eugene', or something like that. Coach Frost is about to become just Mr. Frost. 8AM today sounds about right. Tough gig to be a millionaire and perform so poorly.
  9. I don't believe DL will remain with Bo for long. EWU is not a fair evaluation. But, BYU will be all the info Coach needs. Back to the presser. I would expect no other reply from Coach than Bo is our guy. That's not the time to be talking next man up. DL has to evaluate the tape first and not be passively bashing his team before a long ride home. "it's on me" was the right call. Is Butters not good enough for a series, Is TyThom? I will hang my hat on the 'put the backup in when the game is lost' mantra. I am reminded of not so long ago that the Beavers did the exact same thing. Opening half starting QB was not garnering rave reviews. Second half came out with the backup and he took the reigns for the season. Point is, Fall ball is not season ball. Naming a starter in camp doesn't mean you have to stay with them. Just a thought.
  10. 29-50. Thats the comparison of 4 star or higher recruits for U$C and Oregon. U$C 29 in the last 4 years and Oregon has a whopping 50. Some have left, but thats not the point. Some have come through the Portal, but that's not the point either. The overall team quality of players is astounding. CW is an amazing player and I expect nothing less this year. Corey Freman should be an instant disruptor one would expect. But, let's be real clear, U$C has another year or two to gain their footing with personnel. U$C will get theirs, but not this year. It's Utah's to lose if we are going to take off the colored glasses. To say Oregon is basically a tier down is incredible homerism at it's worst. It's not 2005 U$C, it's 2022. You had a Losing year last year. Let's take a breather and just get you bowl eligible.
  11. Coach, you might hate being talked about, but it's what helps us understand how you think and what you value. Don't worry, the really hard questions will come after a loss or two and possibly a head scratching decision that costs Oregon a game. Take the sift balls while you can.
  12. So, we are all hoping on a prayer we win against the Dawgs. Just being real. We have a shot but, no one would fault Oregon for losing by 10 or less. That's on our defense. Now, if you know we are limited in our ability to win this game, then why wouldn't you put the next Gen QB in and give him a vanilla playbook? Manage the game and you just might win it. The experience would/should transform that QB. If TT comes out with 60%+ completion and within 10 points? Well, now. But, he just might win it. Not playing Butters or TT this year is very dangerous. You will lose one. You won't lose Nix if he goes second string. Is it just me, or does it seem like Butters seems to be the intellect QB that can outsmart the opponent. Lanning keeps talking how competitive he is and how he smokes the competition in Duck Olympics. Yeah, I know it isn't football. However, Butter's name keeps popping up with the 'It' factor. I just got a feeling, nothing more.
  13. I could be color blind....but, were all those would be tacklers wearing purple? Looked about the same to me
  14. Thank you for such an incredible sacrifice you have made so far. That's an incredible amount of money for a hobby that benefits others so greatly. Adds are no problem. Having to pay for the site might be. Thank you again FD
  15. At some point, these kids will be able to play regardless of a passing grade in class. The NCAA is losing its grip with remarkable speed. Will there be a time where there will be no infraction worthy of penalty? Maybe a bit facetious...maybe.
  16. I would like to preface my comment with I am very aware of Georgia's NC title and NFL laden roster. However, Oregon went to the Natty twice with less star power than the SEC and nearly brought home a trophy. Why is this important you ask? I believe Oregon has enough Dudes to hang with Georgia just fine. 17 points is ridiculous. I believe this is a slight roster advantage to Georgia but can be overcome by Coaching, just fine. Therefore, Lanning should be given as long of a leash when it comes to privacy for the entire year. Next year, I'm hoping that Coach opens up practices to the public for the first half and then closes it for second half. I used to love being able to go to the field and watch the guys scrimmage. What a great way to spend a few minutes of my afternoon.
  17. Thats some heavy LB's out there.
  18. Those that get offended because of a 'kind reminder' tend to be those that think more of themselves than of others. This isn't the forum of demeaning arguments. It's actually quite simple, share a thought or article. Leave everything else off the website. I can be wrong, but I don't have to be abused because of it.
  19. You don't need a Great QB to win a playoff game. Georgia doesn't have one. The NFL has tons of Super Bowl Champs that have serviceable QB's that are not Great by any stretch of the imagination. A Great Defense gets the opposing offense off the field. Therefore, they don't score points. This allows for development to progress with Young QB's. Oregon's success over the last 2-3 years had more to do with line play than QB play. That's a Mari° plug right there. As far as 2 QB system.....yuck! Figure out your QB in the Spring and Fall camps. Get the #2 and #3 some reps when you are 24 points up in the second half. If it's the 4th quarter and that kind of spread, then I would alternate QB 2&3 with the #1 offense. Bellotti tried this and I hated it. Haven't seen any successful team utilize this with any kind of regularity. Situational, yes, but not part of the main scheme.
  20. Maybe, now, the ACC would like to have a bonus pay package to their media contract with the PAC playing designated crossover games. Clemson/Oregon, UW/UM, and who wouldn't like a little FSU in the mix as well? What kind of monetary payout could we reasonably get with an additional 2/4/6 team contributing to the PAC? SDSU, TT, Houston, Baylor, and maybe BYU? Could we get to $45-$50 million per school? I would think that we could really add value if we could loosely align with the ACC and add major market schools. Let the realignments continue!!
  21. We all deserve a refresher of TT's ability to hit someone down field. Video is imbedded. To be fair, he launches at the 31 and that ball is caught 5 yards inside the end zone! 😲 Oregon Football: QB Ty Thompson shows off impressive arm strength DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Well, we’ve always known that Ty Thompson has never been lacking for arm strength. That much is clear.
  22. I don't believe we need a footprint in any state as regards to recruiting. Oregon has been to 2 NC games and won a handful of PAC titles in the last 12-15 years without it. IMO, footprint is only about TV revenue. Another point, after much consideration, Oregon would be best served staying in the PAC. We don't need more money, we have PK and PK amongst many others. Remaining in the PAC is an easier road to an undefeated season.
