Ohio State 38 Indiana 15: What Do You Make of This?
Clearly, to this point in the season, OBD's and tOSU are the 2 best teams in college football. However, The Dawgs and the Tide are really rounding into shape and IMHO, are on the heels of the BIG front runners. The Buckeyes are hungry for the rematch with the Ducks. Once they dispatch the Wolverines the stage will be set for the 2nd match of what should be a 3rd rubbermatch game. It is inevitable somewhere along the path to the Natty. Some on this forum may not agree with my next thoughts, however OBD's will not beat tOSU in the BIG CCG......especially if the offense plays like they did against Maryland and Wisconsin. Field goals, penalties and red zone lapses will not get it done against the Buckeyes. Not to mention the offense virtually disappearing in the 3rd quarter. No matter who the Ducks put on the field, that next man up must bring their A plus effort. Personally, I feel the break, rest and recovery will do wonders for the entire team. And the Ducks should open a large can of whoop arse on the huskies. Then carry that recharge and energy in the BIG CCG and into the CFP..... GO DUCKS......

Lanning’s Most Crucial Defender is ALMOST Finished…
Sir Charles, as usual, you covered a number of key points and packed a great deal of thoughts to ponder. Well done! I so agree that all the 10 other players must execute at a high level in order for the Edge player to execute at a high level. Last year, the secondary was very good but not great. They could not lock down the darn huskies NFL caliber receivers. Injuries to key secondary players made it even nore difficult to cover. The 2024 secondary blanketed tOSU NFL receiver group to help with the victory. Uber talented transfers elevated the execition and depth. Nor could the 2023 front seven get to and contain Penix. Critical transfers have added interior strength, push and pressure. It appears that the Duck D is just stronger and quicker. Opposing QB's have their O Lineman shoved right in their face. Look st all the tip balls this year...... This power rush allows the Edge Rusher to cause chaos and havoc. As high level recruits watch on TV or from the sidelines on a visit, they can see themselves excelling in DL's defense. Especially at Edge.......with all the other positions filled with high 4 and 5 star players, well a uber talented, hard working Edge Rusher csm be showcased into a first round draft pick. The recruits DL and staff are recruiting want a shot at the NFL and this scheme allows all 11 position players to excel. GO DUCKS....

What if Indiana Beats Ohio State?
For this Duck fan I ask myself these 2 questions when pondering if the Hoosiers can beat the Buckeyes.... Are the Ducks a better team than Indiana? Answer: Yes The Ducks have talent on both sides of the ball that will be playing in the NFL next year and beyond. The Ducks have been tested under fire. Coming from behind against BSU, tOSU and Whisky to pull out wins. OBD's have played and beaten 2-CFP worthy teams. IU gets that honor this weekend in the SHOE. Can the Ducks beat tOSU in a rematch? Toss-up game....they are that evenly matched. Injuries to key players may tip the scales. I feel that both the Ducks and Buckeyes are 10 point favorites against the Hoosiers. But anything can happen on that field. Thankfully they play the game.

Can the Ducks Peak? How Many Losses for Oregon in the SEC?
Darren, this team has the talent and depth to compete in and with the SEC beasts. However, based on how our OBD's have actually played this season??????. Including the injuries that the Ducks suffered thru out? Careless penalties? Red zone turnovers? Including 3rd quarter scoring droughts? Not playing a full 4 quarter game on offense. (Except against tOSU)? Lets say we had Tennessee, South Carolina, Florida and Texas A&M at home and road games with MSU, Vandetbilt, Arkansas and Bama 6-2 at best! Maybe 5-3. No knock on DL and this awesome team...... However, the 2024 schedule allowed the Ducks to thrive on teams that could not really compete witb the Ducks.... Fortuneately, with thr new 12 team CFP format our Ducks get a chance to prove me wrong. OBD's have played 2 top 12 teams and came away with hard fought victories. We have 4 or 5 potential top 12 teams left to play to win the Natty. Chances are good we will have an SEC team or 2 and tOSU standing in our way....... If the team is healthy with all hands on deck, well I do like our chances. As long as DL, WS and DG put points on the board in the 3rd quarter. GO Ducks....make sure the huskies are a speed bump.

Public Apology to JabbaNoBargain (From Original Post of CFB Playoff Committee to HOSE Oregon?)
Its best we win out. Leave nothing to chance. Then win the BIG CCG! It really doesnt matter if we play tOSU 3 times or Indiana/ BSU 2 times in the same year. We have to beat 3 or 4 of the top 12 teams in the land to bring home the Natty. Counting the BIG CCG then we have to beat 4 top teams. Finally OBD's gets their shot after 10 years to put it all on the line. What great exciting games for us fans....plus DL has assembled a team that has a fighting chance. GO DUCKS....handle the huskies.....

Is Ole Miss the Best Team in the SEC? Will Ohio State Dominate Indiana?
Just my thoughts on the SEC and BIG.......and many won't agree with this useless post The SEC is undervalued but Texas is way overvalued. The way the Ducks are currently playing (especially the offense) I would not want to play Bama, Georgia, Ole Miss or Tennessee. Texas has no meat on their schedule to warrant a top 5 ranking. A full strength Duck squad with Tez, Burch and Harper healed and playing would put the Ducks in position to beat anyone. As of now, with pitiful second half scoring we would lose in a shootout. I firmly believe the Duck D would not allow a blowout. But that is a big task! Bama blew the doors off of Wisconsin and OBD's just got by for a hard fought win. The other 4 top SEC teams would also smoke the Badgers. The BIG is overvalued. Where are the big OOC wins? Their are 14 marginal teams in the BIG and the top 4 have feasted on that fact. Aside from OBD's win against the Buckeyes, we have no other top level, potential CFP victory! I know, what about Boise State? Well if BSU loses another game they will not be in the CFP. Power house high school level Army or Tulane could steal that 12th spot. tOSU has a top win against PSU. PSU has no big win and neither does Indiana. The BIG is playing on the CFP house money. Gaudy records but very little meat on the bone. Indiana has to play tOSU very tough or they could fall out of the Top 12. With 4 spots for ACC, Big 12, G5 and ND that leaves 8 spots. I agree with Jon Joseph that Indiana must play a tough game or win against the Buckeyes or the SEC may get 5 teams in the CFP. Go BSU, win out and strenthen OBD's SOS. Go Indiana, play tOSU tough or win. 2 undefeated teams playing for the BIG CCG will insure 4 BIG spots. Then let the CFP begin.. With the squad at full strength well i love OBD's chances. This years squad could end up as Oregon's best ever. Especially with a schedule break to recover. GO DUCKS....HEAL UP..... and open up a can of whoop arse on the huskies.

Not Pretty but Still Perfect: No. 1 Ducks Rally Late
Thank you Jordan for your article in the aftermath of OBD's hard fought road game victory. A well rested and energized Badger defense utilized constant pressure to force DG off his timing routes. Wisconsins secondary is strong and coverage was very good. DG had to scramble or adjust often to carve out table scraps on the scoreboard. It helped that the Whisky D (just like the Terps) did not have to account for Tez. To my eyes the Duck offense is more predictable withoit Tez. Yet the Ducks tired and pieced together offense moved the ball, at times with ease. However, a critical red zone mistake and 2 settle for Field Goals, on the first 3 drives absolutely inspired the Wisconsin D. Instead of taking the crowd out of the game with a 21 point lead early, well that crowd was loud and supportive for the entire game. Except when the Badgers had the ball. OBD's Defense played outstanding dominant ball. Their was no doubt that the Game Ball belongs to the Oregon Duck D... Well done........ It was an ugly win for sure but a big time road win. Go Ducks, the dreaded leg lifters are heading to Eugene.......

Tennessee QB "Questionable" for Pivotal Game with Georgia
The Vols, IMHO, have less talent than the Dawgs. However, the Vols are playing better as a team. The Dawgs D simply must play its best game of this season. I expect this will be the case in this game. Victory against the Vols depends on the O Line protecting Beck long enough for the receivers to break open. This group of receivers, including TE is not on the level of the last few years. Tbey need to step up. But Beck needs to make better decisions. Like not throw into triple coverage. Take a sack for darn sake and lead this team. Just like Oregon, the Dawg team can only beat themselves. But our great Dawg forum posters can offer a better perspective. From this fan's view a 3 loss Georgia, Bama or even Ole Miss is better than a second place BIG 12 or ACC team. Hec they are better than their conference champs. ND has no business being in the conversation. As Jon Joseph shares, they have 5 G5 teams on their schedule, weak ACC opponents and a loss to a G6 team. WTH CFP committee? I like Boise State, however they will not beat whoever tbe #5 team is in the opening round! The Broncos played their best game possible against OBD's. The Ducks had O line issues and the D had not found itself, yet. The Ducks had tbeir best 3rd quarter with 2 scores and had taken control of the game. The Ducks committed 2 costly 4 quarter turnovers and Jenty made them pay. Yet the Duck O drove the field, ran out the clock and kicked a FG to win. If thry played again OBD's would win by 17. BSU's G5 schedule will not prepare them for whoever that #5 slot opponent will be. If OBD's and tOSU win out the loser of the BIG CCG the loser most likely will land at the 5 spot. But I am rooting for the Broncos to get tbeir chance and hope they can get a CFP win As long as it is not against OBD's! GO Ducks

Lanning to the NFL? I Don't See It.
DL's strengths can dominate in college football, especially in recruiting. Coach can't recruit in the NFL. He can't recruit 7 transfer players to immediately fill and fix needs, in one srason. DL has a long, long leash at Oregon to get that first Natty. He has no legend to follow. In the nfl he must win now and win big. The window is narrow, produce or you are looking for a job. The grass is never greener somewhere else, except at Oregon. Where annual 9.5 million dollar extensions exist. Thats some real green. Personally i consider Bama and Georgia HC position better than an NFL bottom feeder job. GO DUCKS....GO DL.....

Yawn...We Are SO BORED With Being No. 1...
For this graybeard, i love this kind of boring. I am with all posters who support being #1. How often does #1 happen? Not often, so i am enjoying every moment. This years version is more methodical and less exciting, yet dominant. Go Ducks, bore us to death!

Oregon’s Offense Adopts Hockey’s Three Periods of Play
Darren thank you for that deep dive into the puzzling third quarter woes of OBD,s. For this Duck fan, I am more excited that our violent Duck Defense has only surrendered 30 3rd quarter points for an average of 3 points The Defense has made certain that OBD's did not lose control of the games. DL knows that the offense does not play to its potential in the 3rd quarter. Even if the substitution level is high. Go Ducks....whoop on the Badgers and clinch that spot in the BIG CCG.....

Stewart Mandel Predicts Ohio State as B1G Champion...
As mentioned by others, we need to take care of business in Madison and secure the spot. Handle the huskies..... No more injuries and hope all the starters are healthy by mid-December. If we do face tOSU in the CCG then it truly is anyones guess. They could have beat us on our home turf and OBD's were fortunate to beat the Buckeyes. Rematch # 2 could go either way. A loss in the CCG, as others mentioned won't keep us from the CFP. However, the 5th spot is not guaranteed.......we have to be 12-0 going into the CCG. if we go in 11-1 and lose, well a 11-2 Duck team may not grab #5. Just food for thought. Going undefeated is difficult at the P-5 Level. And while this is fun info to ponder, this old Duck fan has witnessed many November slip ups by favorites. Long ways to go but this team has all the ingredients and shoild be 12-0 heading to the CCG. GO DUCKS.....handle wisconsin.

No. 1 Ducks Silence Maryland to Stay Perfect
Jordan, love the stew analogy... OBD's certainly threw enough ingredients into the pot. Hope all that is behind this team and the rythmn and flow returns to the offense.Another week of practice should help Iuli get the rust off. Maryland worked hard and their game plan, coupled with Duck penalties allowed the Terps to control the clock. That combo, thrown into the stew allowed Maryland to limit OBD's possessions and scoring opportunities This team has truly excelled at overcoming key injuries all season. This game was no different. Key injuries were the main ingredient in the stew pot However, though shaky, the next man up stew ingredient was successful.... The defense was aggressive, hard hitting and relentless. Only defensive and special teams penalties kept Maryland in this game. But the outcome was never in doubt. The defense threw points into the stew. Call it the special seasoning...... DL and staff along with the players have shown this fan their work effort toward improvement. Wisconsin will demand that the Ducks continue to improve if they want to leave Madison with a win. Are we confident this will happen? This fan is...... Go Ducks.....

Can Oregon Clinch a BIG CCC Spot Next Weekend?
GeoteckDuck you may have summed this up cotrectly. However, i am not 100% certain. It would best if OBD's win the last 2 games and guarantee their seat at the CCG. Having 4 teams end up 11-1 is a real possibility in the BIG...... No reason to be part of that messy scenario. I have some concerns about OBD's going undefeated. It is very difficult.

B1G Football: Some Say “Physicality.” I Say “Bad Offense.”
Darren, well stated! Prior to this season, in conference games from 21 thru 23 Michigan, tOSU and PSU beat every team in the BiG. Michigan beat tOSU & PSU, while tOSU beat PSU. Conference foes did not field enough offense to beat the top 3 teams. ( May hsve been an upseti in those years but i didn"t find one.) PSU had enough offense to beat every other BIG team but not enough to win against the big 2. Michigan had enough offense, coupled with a great defense to best the Buckeyes. Now the Wolverine offense has no punch and just a good defense. Thus very few, if any upsets in the natural order of the BIG... The fact that OBD's beat the Buckeyes and Wolverines must be troubling to their fans on many levels. The PAC had major upsets every season especially after dark. If your offense sputtered you could lose. The Ducks can lose big games if the offense struggles or becomes one dimensional. Or if the defense can't hold down a high powered offense. However, in the current state of the BIG our OBD's are built to dominate any team that doesn't have a offense thay can score. Because a bad offense will not beat a great offense......except if you play usuck! GO DUCKS......

Monday Injury Update! Oregon's Tez Johnson and Marcus Harper....
Well i am happy for OBD's and Tez. Having Tez in the the CFP is a weapon that both BSU and tOSU know, first hand, is hard to contain. Other CFP teams would face similar problems. Also, Tez needs to close his college career on the field competing. His story needs to end hoisting that Natty trophy. Great news........
-
It's Going to Get Harder Every Game for Oregon
This team has quality, depth and a winning attitude throughout. The Ducks are pretty darn deep at receiver. Tez is special but the remaining weapons are exceptional OBD's are very thin at depth on the O Line. Our last 3 opponents are not loaded on their front 7. Whoever plays should be able to get the job done. Hopefully some original O Line starters will be available by the BIG CCG. At the QB position we are ultra thin. If DG goes down, it would be as devastating as losing Dixon. DG's experience, accuracy and mobility keep opponents off balance. The Duck opponents don't know what the next will be. The backups have talent but lack experience...... My concern would be the BIG CCG against tOSU or Indiana. We need all hands on deck. And the best players playing.

USC Can't Afford to Keep Riley
Well in lalaland dilusional reigns supreme. Riley stays until the boosters handover the dollars for his buyout and the new coach buyout. I would be chasing down Urban Meyers Chris Peterson or Bob Stoops with an armored truck full of cash first. The helm needs substance. Then if i was the trojan AD, Cignetti would be high on my radar. However, he has benefitted from a soft schedule! The meat of his schedule is upcoming. Let's see how that turns out. If he beats Michigan, tOSU and Purdue to close the season. Then beats OBD's in the BIG CCG, then i would be getting after him. So will a few other big name schools Lots to prove between now and Dec 7th. Cignetti may be loyal and true to his word just as DL is and not interested in leaving Indiana. I shouldnt be this happy at usucks bleak picture. Sir Charles has helped me learn how not to be noble......

No. 1 Oregon Ducks Crash Big House-AGAIN
Jordan great recap as you summed it all up..... Oregon did pretty much what they wanted to, when they wanted to and Michigan had no answers. Thank you and all the writers for your time and effort. This fan and forum member appreciate all of you. We are all in the midst of what could truly be epic for OBD's. GO DUCKS....Destroy Maryland!

Third Quarter Problems - Question
While the 3rd quarter lack of scoring is concerning and may end up biting OBD's in a future game, I didnt feel that was cause for concern yesterday. The Ducks go 3 and out to start. Michigan loaded the box and also brought a 5th pass rusher on the 3rd down pass play. DG had no time to get the ball past the line to gain. Ducks punt. The wolverines go on about a 6 minute drive and score. Michigan kicks off, Stein adjusts his play calling and with the aid of penalties uses all but 47 seconds of the 3rd quarter and puts up 3 points. On that drive DG called some last second audibles and all worked out okay. In the 4th quarter Michigan drives into the redzone and comes up empty. The Ducks engineer their 2nd, 90 plus yard scoring drive of the game to ice it. Leaving Michigan just a few seconds to operate with. The offense readjusted to Michigans half time adjustments and took alot of time off the clock while putting 10 points on the board. The Ducks outscored the Wolverines in both half's. And 4 true freshmen played in this gane for the Duck's Great job by the offense and defense. For me, special team play is a concern at times. GO Ducks beat Maryland.....

Week 10 - Austin Mock's Playoff Mock - Puddles Is Flying High
I think they have the teams picked JJ. However, too early on the seeding.... Why? To much is unsettled in the SEC. Nobody is stepping up to dominate the conference. It's anybodies guess! Georgia has Ole Miss and Tennessee left on their schedule. A Dawg loss, while not likely puts them behind the head to head with Bama. And neither team may make the SEC ritle game. If LSU beats Bama does a 3 loss Bama make the playoff? And without being a homer with the vision of Duck colored glasses; a rematch with tOSU would be a toss-up game. This is fun stuff but darn nerve wracking. GO DUCKS........

Oregon GameDay Thread versus Michigan: Join Us!
Well Michigan's defense and their fans wanted OBD's in the Big House and now they got them. Wonder how they feel half way thru this game? Long ways to but...... It's awfully quiet for 100k plus fans in attendance. GO DUCKS....blow the Wolverines oit of their own stadium.

The B1G Reveal - 10 and Counting
If tOSU loses to Penn State it will weaken OBD's quality win over the Buckeyes. As long as Georgia stomps Florida I expect the committee to vote Georgia #1. Bias? Maybe. If Georgia wins out they will add powerful wins over Ole Miss and Tennessee to their resume. OBD's have no meat left on their schedule. But thats the course in a beauty pageant. Just win out, put the BIG Trophy Title on the mantle and make a deep run in the CFP. GO DUCKS.......
