How High Can Dillingham’s Ducks Fly?
DazeNConfused, excellent observations and summation. You rock........ This is the best overall and most complete collection of blue chip talent our OBD's have ever assembled. If these talented players execute at a high level then yhe PAC will return to the CFP. The key is execution......... That starts with the QB position. If BO earns the #1 spot and holds his own against Georgia then he will maintain his starting spot. Afterall, Georgia's D will be the best collection of talent we face. One of these 3 QB's needs to exploit their relative game time inexperiemce. The talent is on the field......... GO DUCKS!

PAC-12 Needs to Make Moves Sooner Rather Than Later
QuackAttack, you bring up some valid points and thoughts. However, IMHO, patience is the key. I believe 2 things should play out before the PAC expands....... First, now that the BIG has drawn first blood against the alliance it would be prudent to let them set the market price for TV broadcasting rights. If Fox and the BIG lock everyone else out then their will be hungry networks and streaming services looking for West Coast content. The PAC 10 is the only player for that content. The only player......... Second, test the waters and make the best deal for the 10 remaining schools. Between the major networks bidding, streaming services looking for content and the PAC Network each school should be able to receive north of $50 million. Even though ESPN initially low balled the PAC10, just remember ESPN needs the PAC. They cannot be left out of Friday and Saturday night football content. The bidding will increase over time. The Phoenix, Bay Area, Seattle, Denver, Salt Lake and Portland markets are valuable and cannot be ignored by the networks. The networks need viewers who are awake at a 7 or 7:30 pst start. The east coast and midwest have had a full day by 9:30 or 10:30 pm. Not a good kickoff time for those viewers. As far as adding some of the teams you mentioned i am not qualified to know their true value. As a business operator i would want to know my value. Lets say the 10 remaining teams can get an annual value of $40 million each then new members would have to bring that equivalent number or take less for the life of the first grant of rights money. The BIG12 teams have the Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston markets. And consider that Baylor, TCU, Houston and TT will be competing in time slots head to head with Texas and Texas A & M. What game will Texas fans watch? Texas/LSU or Baylor/Cal? Texas A & M/Bama or Houston/Oregon State? The networks know that answer and are willing to pay for that game. Any time Oklahoma plays any SEC school they will attract more TV viewers than OK State against the PAC. You can bring in the Texas TV market into the PAC but you arent bringing in the glamour teams... No offense to our BIG12 forum members but a year ago the BIG12 came to and needed the PAC12. A year later nothing has changed the BIG12 needs the PAC10. The numbers dont lie. The PAC needs to take its time and choose wisely. Any PAC team that moves to the BIG12 potentially will make less money in the long run. SDSU and FSU will not move the meter for the BIG12. Both those schools would have their athletes incur extensive travel. Just like the 2 traitors. Neither school would move the meter for the PAC. However those schools could still get a big raise and not get full shares. They are in the foot print of the PAC and should be members when the time is right. Hopefully the PAC wont be like the guy in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade who chose poorly.

Recent Revelations Make It Harder to Blame George Kliavkoff For USC Exit to Big Ten
What comes around goes around. Especially for those that look you in the eye, then say one thing and do another. Carol Folt and the Big Ten commissioner are 2 peas in a pod. They come across as 2-faced, arrogant, pompous narcissists. And you know what? They act like it.... They are everything from my POV that a POS should be. Neither one cares about the student athlete or even the new college level professional student athlete. They only care about the size of the check they get. Uscuck has not been the top dog in the PAC for 14 years. They will never be the top dog in the BIG. If you cant climb over the mountain that is Oregon you will never climb over the mountain range that is tOSU. Wishing that uscuck and uclasuck get everything they deserve.

Ruh-Roh! USC....
Well you probably never have any top free agent locked in until they actually sign the LOI. Malachi is probably confident he will be in the NFL so why not play in the NFL light league for the highest bidder. Then you have them as long as they feel they are getting treated the way they want to be treated. Or then they hit the portal. Just another sign of future changes in the landscape of college sports. I am genuinely distraught that this could happen to such a fine, straight shooting school like USC....... NOT..........

Bill Oram: Will Bo Nix’s Play for Oregon Ducks Live Up to the Hype and the Hope?...Good Complement to FishDuck Article Today
Overall the talent appears to be in the room. Past is past and cannot be changed or undone. What Bo did at Auburn matters not. What Ty and Jay havent done matters not. Nothing matters, speculation, anticipation, trepidation, previous stats or lack of stats.... Its time to put up or shut up....... Preparation and execution to earn the starting job begins Friday. With the only goal to beat Georgia on September 3rd. At kick off the players will have no 2022 stats and the score will be Dawgs -0- Ducks-0- So excited to see these Ducks unfold and write their own Duck story. Heres hoping that the 2022 story becomes legendary. If you got one then raise it and drink it down. Go BN, TT, JB and all the players. GO DUCKS............

Regarding Bo Nix: Beware ‘Bandwagon Buy-In’
DAZENCONFUSED, thanks for the article. As i read and then reread the article, I found myself waffling back and forth about Bo. At times my cup was half full with optimism about Bo and his future with OBD.. Then my cup was half empty filled with doubts about Bo and that same OBD future. The Auburn Tigers the last 3 years are 21-16 on the field. The best year being Bo's 2019 freshmen year working with KD. From that point on Auburn has been a program under duress. Multiple HC and OC changes in that SEC division is not a healthy sign. I am not certain the QB's you mentioned as comparison would have done any better against those monsters on that schedule. Lets face the fact that those 3 Auburn squads were not that good. What was JH's record his first 2 seasons?. It doesnt matter because those Duck teams were not that good. JH played above their level and moved the Ducks forward. As the talent level improved, JH led that team to 12-2 with a Rose Bowl won. OBD out recruited the rest of the PAC. Auburn has not and will not out recruit Bama, Georgia, Florida, LSU, the pro team that is TA&M and Ole Miss. Even though both schools are playing football doesnt mean we are comparing apples to oranges..... Oregon is the Alabama, Georgia or LSU of the PAC10. (the 2 traitors are lost to me). If Bo starts in the Georgia game he will be behind his best O line ever. The field will be scattered with talent at all the skill positions. Bo simply has to use his game experience, minimize mistakes and execute. For the first time he has a full compliment of talent around him. He will not be facing defenses with multiple first and second round players. Lets just hope the defense creates alot of turnovers that give Bo and the O many shory fields. GO DUCKS.........

Jon Wilner: Realignment Could Take Months
IMHO, their are probably many underlying problems to all of this conference realignment that arent glamourous enough to make sportscenter or garner clicks. Money, money and more money are all thats being discussed in public. But i wonder what is going on behind the scenes? But something, we may not be seeing, has caused the self-righteous BIG commissioner to go from we are done with expansion (just 3 weeks ago) to we are looking at additional schools. Dont under estimate the power of academia or the power of parents of student athletes. For example, it has been stated that many ucla fans, boosters and parents are not happy about the move to the BIG. Gavin Newsom is not the only person who is asking how is this better for the student athlete? Imagine 5k mile round trips every other week for MBB, WBB, volleyball, baseball, softball, etc. Without adding 4 to 6 additional west coast schools this is what the bruin student athletes face. (i dont give 2 poops about uscuck or its athletes) This includes some or all of the current BIG schools in the west division, too. Parents who could attend games in the midwest may not be able to come out west. Their son or daughter also faces these 5k milexround trips. Trips that tOSU, MSU, Michigan, Penn state and the other east division schools will make less often. Cant imagine their are not some unhappy Ad's and coaches in the west division Complaining we are not privy too. This is just a small but powerful example. College athletics is a regional endeavor that is shown on national media. Regional rivalries a century in the making. Rivalries built and established by student athletes and supported by booster and alumni. Fox and the BIG are one smart decision from eliminating the PAC and then shutting espn out of saturday night sports. Unless GK and PK can pull in more revenue from all media and streaming networks then our OBD will probably be headed to the BIG. Even though GK talks about whats best for the student athlete and i appreciate that, money, money and more money drives the bus.

USC Killed Previous PAC-12 Expansion Efforts
Most of us, if not all, dislike 2 faced people. You know those that say one thing to your face then go behind your back. They enhance their position behind the scenes while lying to the faces of those who they betray. Oregon has experienced this with Taggart and MC. and along with the PAC and GK, enter the BIG Commissioner, ucla and uscuck! The damage is done and sports will go on at all these institutions. So lets move forward to what the PAC and fans can do. Because if i continue to post what i feel about these people and institutions, well the post will get eliminated. First, the PAC for the next 2 seasons needs to go back to the divisions. Why? If you look at usucks schedule in the PAC they can easily navigate a 9-0 or 8-1 conference record. The traitors do not play Oregon or washington this year. Lets say they only lose to Utah and the Utes run the table. That would normally eliminate them from the title game. Not any more. The Ducks and Trojans could end up tied for 2nd in the new format. That gives the Ducks one loss and no room for a single slip up. Not one more conference loss. Anybody know what the tie breaking system is? The Ducks are capable of 9-0 however how many times have they or any PAC school done that. The PAC 10 members should move quickly. Make uscuck earn it..... I know many on this Forum dont feel uscuck can turn it around that quick. Lets face it they added a solid coaching staff, won the portal battle and recruited strong. And the rest of the PAC, besides Utes & Ducks, sucks. They lose to FCS schools and MWC schools. Second, On realignment the Ducks should get after Texas and OU. The marriage with the PAC is a better fit. Add OK State and one more BIG 12 school and revenues could climb above $50 million. Going bold isnt just for the SEC and BIG. You pull Texas and OU from the SEC to the PAC then 2 things will happen. Fox and other networks will jump in to the bidding war. Then ESPN will up their bid. Go big or go home .......... Third, PAC fans and boosters start supporting your schools like Oregon does. Fill the stands, organize and develope better NIL offerings Look at Texas Tech for one example. Thanks for allowing me to vent. Have great weekend OBDF members.

Bennett Williams--Oregon’s 2022 All-Pac-12 Safety
DAZENCONFUSED thanks for taking the time to organize and write this article. You and MrFishDuck are spot on. Williams should have a monster year. Before his injury he was on pace last year for a great season. With his experience and elite skill set, IMHO, he should be a special player in 2022. Let's hope that he stays healthy all season. Bennett Williams can and will be a difference maker in 2022. The kind of difference maker that can lead the Ducks to great things. More than a few opposing offensive players will be getting their bell run by Williams.

San Diego State Seen As Essential to Pac-12
I like what the members are presenting on this thread. Great stuff. I would not invite any door mats like UNLV in at this time. We need compelling games. They would get destroyed right out of the gate. May never be able to compete. FSU can compete now in the PAC. The gave the Ducks all they could handle and beat uclasuc. SMU, OK State, Houston, BSU, Baylor and Texas Tech are compelling. UNLV is just not there yet. Of course I dont think like a tenured professor or life long administrator, so my guess is as good as anyone. Right now i would pay streaming money for a pop warnet game. Go Ducks........
-
San Diego State Seen As Essential to Pac-12
Many on this Forum have supported the idea of inviting San Diego State into the PAC. I am one of those. We need to have a presence in SoCal. Afterall it is in the PAC footprint and i would definitely want to keep the BIG12 from getting a toe hold in Cali. The BIG 12 is a competitor, not an ally. Jordan, i would also invite Fresno State into the PAC as a travel partner. For those too young to remember AU and ASU were, i believe, WAC schools. Well beneath the so called glory of the PAC 8 in 1978. But they grew into valuable partners. The talent pool in California is wide, vast and deep. How many times have you heard recruits mention they grew up watching Oregon. Oregon is their dream school. Well each season 8-14 year olds in California need a reason to watch Oregon play in California. Attend games with their family........... SDSU and FSU can grow into valuable partners. Those future 5☆ 8 year olds need a reason to watch the PAC and not the BIG.

USC, The Paper Powerhouse.
uscuc will be improved. Hell it couldnt get any worse. I wont discount what transfers can do. Both MSU and Baylor had dramatic turn arounds in 2021 with transfers. uscuc brought in some talent for sure. Can they jell and is it enough to fill a dumpster fire of a roster? As for making the CFP? I have 2 words for the author of this article: OREGON......UTAH...... Get past them and we can talk. After all they play the games first before they hand out the trophy....... Be glad when the uscuc and uclasuc and their arrogance are the BIG's problem.

Yikes! A MAJOR New Fracture in the Pac-12, and Oregon is the Problem?
Again, this could be just spin to get hits. I don't know who Jason Sheer is or if he is an insider. So is his info, with no names listed for support, better than say WSU President Kirk Shulz? Yesterday the Spokesman Review published an article with a conversation with President Shulz and Shulz asked the Cougar boosters and fans to be patient. These negotiations and future plans take time to explore and develope. But they were moving in a positive direction. The 10 conference members were sticking together and that the network partners were excited about the future of the PAC and the west coast sports content the PAC provides. He was confident that revenues to each of the remaining 10 schools would be substantially higher. And there was no reason to leave the PAC if the money was there. (Thats a sound business practice) This supports what Wilner and Canzano have been publishing. Time and patience are on the PAC's side. Their is no hurry on any of this. A great deal can change in 1 hour, i day, i week, 1 month or 1 year. Sculz, when asked about possible expansion mentioned that the conference is exploring many avenues. Listening and exploring but waiting. IMHO, the WSU President carries much more credibility than an unsupported tweet. These clowns should state the who, what, when and where's with NAMES. Instead of blowing smoke. FACT: The networks need West Coast viewing for sports. FACT: ESPN lost the #2 market to Fox. FACT: The PAC has what ESPN cannot afford to lose. Any more West Coast Content...... WSU President Schulz is right. Just stay calm and be patient. Whos got more credibility President Shulz or Jason Sheer? Who's sitting at the table or guessing what's being said at the table? My Dad used to always tell me that good things come to those who wait.

Bo Nix Highlights From 2021
Other than the front 7 players from Georgia, Utah and maybe BYU, Bo will not be facing the same type of pressure or pass rush from the PAC as the SEC. Same for TT and JB.... The experienced Duck OL will help BO keep opposing D's honest and off balance. Its time for Bo to lead and take charge. Minimize the mental errors and execute. He has the talent, skills and real game time experience from playing against some of the best. The opportunity is before him. GO BO.....GO DUCKS...........

Wilner Advises ‘Flexibility’ for Oregon/Washington Over Two Years
It is excellent advice. The future of big time football is fluid and everchanging. Dont get locked into anything long term. Of course the 4 border schools could bolt to the BIG 12 if they think the Ducks and dogs arent committed for the long haul. Tough situation for GK. Both the Ducks and dogs have boosters who will pay the potential buy out ro exit early. Especially for the BIG or SEC.

Ten Breakout Offensive UO Players To Watch This Fall
Smith72 thanks for posting this article. Fun to think about the potential of these talented players as the season slowly approahes. I personally hope that those on this Forum with the ability to discuss player potential and development share their thoughts with us. IMHO the competition will be fierce and the very best will make the field. All of the 10 players listed would be starters on almost all PAC schools including the dynamic back stabbing duo in so cal The more of these 10 who perform to their talent level the greater the chance the Ducks win the PAC and head to the CFP. Afterall the Rose Bowl should be the basement for this team, not the ceiling Go Ducks............

Beavers to the Big Sky? Is This True?
Charles the one certainty out of all this mess is that we will get buried by the biggies overtime. You are spot on. This is not just business as usual. This is 2 business entities deciding the haves and have nots. The foundation is not on solid ground. If the lawyer sharks ever discover collusion between the 4 schools and 2 conferences the damages could be untold. In this environment you are guilty until proven innocent. ESPN and Fox would be wise to be generous in their tv rights payments to keep Non revenue sports in tact. It is not wise to be (the buck stops here culprit) if your finger print is all over telling thousands of female collegiate student athletes that their opportunity under the sun is gone. Just saying that the current business model has worked for decades. It just takes 1 Judge and 12 moms, dads, grandmas and grandpas on a jury to unleasch a backlash upon the networks. Or God forbid the government gets involved.
-
Beavers to the Big Sky? Is This True?
So much info or miss info flying around its difficult to separate fact, fiction and BS. Maybe when all is lost the Beavers look elsewhere. At this moment and thru August 4th the PAC is negotiating exclusive with at least ESPN. It would be a foolish and defeated comment if JS made it. Also, premature. David Marsh IS correct that a diminshed PAC is better than the MWC or Big Sky. I might add its better than the BIG 12. Why because the PAC controls the PST zone. And with a few additions (BYU and BSU) the PAC could control the MST zone. The BIG 12 plays in but must compete with the BIG and ND for the CST zone. Thats tough competition. As long as Oregon and the tail chasing butt sniffers stay together in the PAC the PAC will survive. Hopefully they are all past the everyman for themselves mentality and are working together. The PAC will or should remain a P-5 conference. The PAC is the football and BB content for TV after dark. Stay intact and make the most of that fact and fix the PAC networks distribution problems. Add content that should bring in additional revenue. Then allow a better form of revenue sharing. Hell all the other 9 schools should try improving the product they put on the field. More fans in the seats mean more money in the cash register. Only the foolish will leave the PAC at this point. Of course we have seen the PAC Presidents make many a foolish sports business decision over the years. So really this probably is a foolish post.

Personal Experience Alert: New COVID Strain is Sneaky
Thanks for sharing Charles and Lois get better soon In the last 4 weeks 50% of our companies work force have been out ill with this variant. Our staff is exposed daily so being infected or transmitting the infection is common Stay safe Go Ducks........

Poll: Would YOU Want Oregon to Join the Big-12 Alone?
Charles, the fallout from 4 schools moving from their traditional conferences is just beginning. However their are hundreds of alumni from every PAC schools who could join together (CoOp) and sponsor one or more non revenue sporys in each school. They could have in house advertising and be named at each game. (Muliple times a game.) Just an example. Free ads on PAC network. The PAC network can be saved with a network partner. Or be the foundation for a streaming partner. Fix the distribution problems. Grow some ... s and take stock in what we have. Hell why not use the Network to broadcast MAC, AAC games etc. Add content and sell. GEEZ. I may not know academics but 44 years of business has taught me that anything is possible. Its a whole new world out there with emerging markets. When Ceasar was stabbed in the back by Brutus, well he died. Is the PAC and PAC Network, Ceasar? Or is the PAC, 10 vibrant, yet diverse universities, with vision and forward thinking. Phil and Penny shouldnt be the only business leaders involved in this.

Rumor: Notre Dame, NBC Negotiating Massive Deal to Keep Irish Independent
I think, if Oregon leaves the PAC, they could try and negotiate any deal However, you need interest from multiple partners to bid up the price. Not sure we generate that kind of excitement. We need a conference for scheduling. I would love to see each team be able to keep the revenues from their OOC games. Share the conference and bowl revenue. But let each team schedule bigger OOC paydays and keep the revenue. If thats even possible.

Miami Removing the 'Turnover Chain' Ahead of 2022 Season
Mario was out the door after the victory in the shoe. Biggest OOC road victory in a decade in college football. Once MC soft pedalled Herbie asking him about the Miami job in the 2nd full week of the season, well the writing was already on the wall Herbie had heard the rumors, whispers and concetures and put 2 and 2 together. Thats okay though. Things usually work out for the best. What comes around goes around. GO DUCKS.......

Poll: Would YOU Want Oregon to Join the Big-12 Alone?
Charles, revenues Indeed will mean relevance. So i will hold my nose, no matter where we land. 2 points that keep popping in my head. 1. Duck 1972 mentioned that Colorado and others are upset that Oregon and the useless butt sniffers want a bigger slice of the revenue pie. IMHO they should get a bigger slice. Keep this in mind that only Oregon went to tOSU, beat the juggernaut for a bigger pay day. Now the Ducks play Georgia for a $5.65 million dollar payday. And they have to revenue share with the other schools. Schools who for the most part have not nor will not invest in their programs. Besides USC who would get an invite or schedule that big a game with that big of risk. Plus who would risk booking that big og match up. 2. As the lack of interest in Oregon, by other conferences, begins to unfold, i ask myself: A. Do we have an overblown Image of ourselves beyond what it really is. B. Or do other conferences not want to invite the Oregon sports powerhouse into their conference. We would be an Instant contender. Yes its market share but uscuc really is not much of a threat to Iowa or Wisconsin or tOSU.But Oregon is. Chicken ...ts. ........ Lets play some ball. Winning and scoreboard is the key. Teams schedule Oregon for a bigtime game and payout. Those same teams schedule uscuc and uclasuc for victories. GO DUCKS...

Gov. Gavin Newsom: UCLA 'Must Clearly Explain to Public' Why Move to Big Ten is Beneficial
TexasDuck you are spot on. They are tethered together. The battle will be over the freedom or lack of that the bruin athletic department has. It would benefit the PAC if uclasuc stayed and stanford got the invite. That way the PAC has a foot in the door of the socal and bay area tv markets. If the BIG wanted to eliminate the PAC completely then they could take all 4 Caifornia schools. And control 2 large tv markets. If Stanford, Cal and uclasuc stay in PAC then invite SDSU to replace the trojan lackeys and lets play ball Go Ducks......great responses, thoughts and ideas on this thread. Well done OBDF members
-
Gov. Gavin Newsom: UCLA 'Must Clearly Explain to Public' Why Move to Big Ten is Beneficial
Well, uclasuc is part of the California Education System. It is an umbrella they cannot escape. No matter where they play ball. The line is drawn in the sand now. It will certainly benefit uclasuc athletic departments bottom line. Or it should. But will it benefit the academic/educational side? More important how will Cal be affected? That is the $64 million question?
