  1. The Ducks trailed the entire game until they scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth, and finished off the game with a double play in the ninth! Ducks score late to claim Pac-12 Tournament win - University of Oregon Athletics GODUCKS.COM Oregon scores two runs in the eighth to pick up the come-from-behind win Logan Mercado got the win, but Grayson Grinsell had his first start for two innings.
  2. That is a great example, the exception to my axiom. I never said it was 100%, but a good indicator for me. It works the majority of the time with players, coaches, writers, editors, etc. Another exception are Oregon Baseball pitchers; Jace Stoffal was awful in the beginning last year, but improved to where this year he did something NO Oregon pitcher as ever done and won the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week three times.
  3. They have a HUGE mess to untangle in the B1G right now, and slicing their pie further to invite new teams? I don't see it... While it is a bizarre thought...this could give us some closure about the "going to the B1G" anytime soon. We will have to live with the 5-6 year media deal arrived at, and address options later with the B1G as Jon has written about. Oregon will survive and prosper; Dan will have us winning no matter what conference we are in.
  4. Thank you, and another major element is the historical consistency of the rankings. With Rivals...I can compare to prior classes and know there is consistency. ESPN does not have it down even now, and 247 bought their historical stats from Scout.com, whom was owned by a Husky. Oregon verbals consistently got downgraded once they committed to Oregon under that group rankings. 247 has good rankings now, although easier to get to 4/5-Star than Rivals, but often the team rankings come out very similar at the end the year between 247 and Rivals. It is just that for my subjective analysis of recruiting classes...I need to know how many 4/5-Star players there are in this class, and when looking back in Oregon's recruiting history to compare prior classes--I know those numbers are not skewed by a damn Husky. Thus why I use Rivals...
  5. Another component I did not think of until now is...what is the value of Bo as a recruiter for Oregon? I'll bet that has added a ton of value to our roster with transfers between last year and this year... Bo and Noah Whittington doing the mesh...
  6. Josh explains it MUCH better, and much more entertaining than any of the articles. Wow. It is much worse than I thought! They won't be discussing adding teams anytime soon. Did it! Not...
  7. Agreed. That is why my own subjective way of looking at it is...."how many 4/5-Star recruits on Rivals are there in the class?" Whether it is 15 out of 30, or 15 out of 20....I look at the number of quality recruits. Years ago Stanford had a class that only had 15 commits, and it was given a so-so ranking due to the low number. But it was high quality, and many went on to NFL careers and that group gave Oregon trouble. Right now Oregon has 14 verbals, but NINE are the 4/5-Star recruits. We are headed to a very good class!
  8. The article about the massive decline of the Eugene Register-Guard got me to thinking about the publishing business, and I think we have all noticed the huge difference in how John Canzano writes these days. No click-bait, no bait-and-switch with a bit less sensationalism. Instead taking a negative stance about a team to get clicks...he is asking "why?" and getting answers. I can feel a partnering approach with teams, versus an adversarial one. What is below is what he wrote in a recent column, and I can confirm it as the metrics that websites look at, and what he personally wrote to me in an email years ago. He said in that email...."sometimes you have to stir the pot." Not now he doesn't... John Canzano (May 20th) "I’ve talked a lot in this space about the importance of being well sourced. There’s a shortage of sourced, trusted, in-depth reporting out there. The loss of institutional knowledge and sourcing at some news outlets is scary. I lived and worked in the traditional newspaper world for nearly three decades at six different papers. It was a wonderful place to grow and work — once upon a time. There are still a few places with high standards doing it well. Over time, the emphasis in the industry became less about quality of content and more about driving page views and advertising revenue. I saw it up close in annual reviews that measured my job performance by the number of posts I created and how many readers I brought to the website. The metrics even measured how long the reader stayed on the page to read. The irony is that solid, sourced, compelling, trusted work brings readers to your work and keeps them there. More people will read me this year at JohnCanzano.com than at any point of my writing career. Not because I’m trying to be sensational, shocking and outlandish but because I’ve got the goods and love to share them with readers." The irony of the article about the Register-Guard? It was written by the Oregonian!
  9. I am not that techie, in fact am tech impaired when it comes to new things. Let the marketing dept. of Oregon know...
  10. A quote from the 6' 175 lb. receiver.... "Everybody knows Oregon,” Gresham told On3’s Chad Simmons. “It’s the place to be. I’ve seen what Oregon is trying to build. The players they’re bringing in, it can’t be a fluke. It seems like they’re ready to go after a national championship. I want to be a part of it.”
  11. He is a 3-Star on Rivals, but has offers from Miami, USC and Washington.
  12. Yep. Good for them, as we need an emerging team to keep Utah honest in the South beyond this year. Oregon will get theirs....
  13. "Oregon has more 4/5-Star players than the entire Pac-12 doubled!" "When it comes to recruiting, if Oregon stays in the Pac-12 long term...this a shark swimming in a lake." "They have stacked defensive front-seven like no one else has in that conference." (Between prep and portal recruiting) Great quotes!
  14. Your take is reasonable, but I do not think it is realistic as there is not enough garbage time in the games to do that, IMHO.
  15. Fantastic observation and stat--thank you. There is the largest concentration of billionaires in the Seattle-Metro area of anywhere in the world. There are no excuses, as the prospects are there and instead getting mad at Oregon--they should get mad at their own Tyee Club, NIL organization or UW Development Dept. But wait! That is not our culture anymore....to attach blame where deserved.
  16. I should be more torn than I am, and I am curious as to what this great community thinks. The Christian in me wants to "give Ty another chance since he did his best yet at the end of the spring game." "Charles...people, players, improve and grow. Perhaps Will Stein has connected with him unlike prior coaches?" The rational analyst in me says, "you have seen enough of Thompson over two years, as greatness did not emerge early. Give Novosad tons of reps and see if the upside is there. If not, then go back to trying Thompson." The first game against Portland State is a perfect opportunity, and there will be others through the season. Of course it is also a risk of burning a year playing beyond four games for Novosad, but since so few college QBs play four years, and considering the QB recruiting coming in behind him--I would ignore that component and play him as much as possible to prepare him in case Bo gets injured, or for the 2024 campaign. I have the highlight video below geared to start at the play I want you to see--a wonderful long pass by Novosad that fits into Stein's "Bird-Bomb" offense. But note how he throws a very accurate, and yet catchable pass on shorter routes as well. Remember, he was offered by Baylor, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, TCU, Notre Dame and Ohio State. What do YOU think? Am I being too harsh?
  17. Throwing mud on the wall, since being a great QB is so difficult. A stretch of Kelly/Helfrich had four QBs who were Rivals 4-Stars, but did not work out. You recruit boatloads and find out who can play, and if you recruit too many--as long as you have your winner--another winner can transfer out. To me, the only glaring weakness on this team is at No. 2 QB, thus the whole season can be lost on one play.
  18. They don't want to play night games in November...and yet they are used to it? I am picturing the LA schools, and laughing. Looks like push-back on streaming, oh-my!
  19. If you wish to see the bracket, you can go right here and if you click on a team--you can see their scores. (And yes...Washington did pull out a 7-6 victory over the pesky McNeese to advance) Pac-12: Four teams-Oregon, Stanford, Utah and Washington ACC: Three teams SEC: Three teams (You would think it would be more considering their coverage!) Big-12: Three teams B1G: One team MTW: One team
  20. See the new article at the top, as it is a dandy!
