  1. A 10.14 last May? Whew! Glad he is on our side! (Can you hear the USC fans gnashing-their-teeth?) Someone wrote that the time would have been fourth place at the NCAA finals last year.
  2. On Rivals, the tougher rating service, two of three signed by Dana were 5-Stars including Shelstad. Great stuff; now can they stay beyond one year please? 2023 Oregon Ducks basketball commitment list OREGON.RIVALS.COM The definitive source for all Oregon news.
  3. It is all crap, as two different sources reported that the CBS report is completely wrong. Canzano has confirmed in his article today that ESPN is in negotiations with the Pac-12 for Tier-1 rights, and because Fox still have Pacific time zone slots to fill....they too are still in negotiations with the Pac-12 for games. Throw in Apple and we have some robust discussions taking place. Thus, just about everything presented by CBS over the last couple of months is disinformation/false/lies. Sad to see how the ethics of political reporting has now seeped into sports.
  4. As much as I love Bo Nix and how he can win games at the college level....I do not see him as an NFL QB, let alone a first round pick. What I see for Bo Nix in the future? He returns to Oregon in a decade as a 32 year old Offensive Coordinator, and I'll bet he would be a good one.
  5. As discussed in the article and in posts prior to this--Oregon will have SIX very experienced offensive linemen available this fall. One was held out of the Spring Game due to injury, thus only half of the offensive lines for both teams had experienced offensive linemen. No surprise the very deep defensive line spanked them often. We will have a very good offensive line this fall, and the running game will be superb...IMHO.
  6. Many would say that $10 a ticket is a giveaway. Yet those who attended to an Oregon spring game had an admission of only three cans of sliced green beans! The Colorado PR people did a fantastic job of creating interest, and creating some revenue. Kudos to them! Now, let’s Butt-Kick the Buffaloes!
  7. "What a weekend at Oregon! Something is HAPPENING up there! I don't think people are picking up what Oregon is putting down right now!" "Defensive personnel has been MASSIVELY upgraded at Oregon." "When at the UCLA game in Autzen this last fall....I was checking the vibe of program? They got it better than about 98% of the places that I go!" "The fan base knows they got something good going on up there." "It is my duty to tell you that Oregon is going to be pretty darn good this year."

  9. (Press Release from Oregon Athletics) EUGENE, Ore. – After leading Oregon to a 4-1 week and a series win over No. 12 Arizona State last week with a 1.595 OPS, Drew Cowley has been named one of Collegiate Baseball’s Players of the Week. Cowley (Upland, Calif. / Upland HS) batted .421 with four home runs and 10 RBI in the five games against Gonzaga and Arizona State. He finished the week with three multiple-hit games while reaching base multiple times in all five contests, finishing with a .542 on-base percentage and a 1.053 slugging percentage. The Ducks’ shortstop opened the week going 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in an 11-4 Oregon win. He wrapped up the two-game Gonzaga series reaching base three times (1-for-3, 2 BB) in the finale. Against Arizona State, Cowley drove in seven runs while homering three times. He homered twice, including a grand slam, in an 11-5 game-one win while matching a career high with five RBI. In game two, he homered again while reaching base three times (2-for-4, HBP) with a pair of runs batted in and a run scored. In the series finale, he walked and was hit by a pitch. Cowley is the fourth Oregon position player to earn a weekly honor from Collegiate Baseball. He joins third baseman Sabin Ceballos, left fielder Tanner Smith and catcher Josiah Cromwick. All-Time Collegiate Baseball Players of the Week Drew Cowley (5/1/23) Sabin Ceballos (4/17/23) Tanner Smith (3/27/23) Josiah Cromwick (2/20/23) Brett Walker (4/5/21) Kenyon Yovan (3/8/21) Spencer Steer (4/15/19) Kenyon Yovan (4/30/18) Parker Kelly (3/12/18) David Peterson (5/1/17) David Peterson (3/13/17) David Peterson (3/7/17) Cole Irvin (5/2/16) David Peterson (3/6/16) Shaun Chase (5/5/14) Cole Irvin (4/2/13)
  10. I am surprised TJ Bass was not drafted. I believe he will make a roster...
  11. I'll certainly agree with that concerning our defense. Could TT beat Portland State? Sure. Arizona State on the road when the 'Devils will be scoring tons of points? Nope. And they are what...the fifth toughest team on the schedule? Sixth?
  12. Our offensive line situation right now is normal to me; we have six players who are experienced, tough and can start and play at a couple of positions. Rarely do we have true two or three deep experienced talent at offensive line. But I do love some of the young-guns coming up, and with some playing time will turn into starters in 2024. By contrast...the defensive line depth is huge; we DO have a three-deep between returning players, portal transfers and an impressive newbie in Matayo Ug. I have absolutely no concerns about the offensive line or defensive line. This team now looks strong, and deep with the exception of the most important position on the field, IMHO. Ty...it is a head-scratcher to us too.
  13. Amen Duck-Brother. It is a massive Achilles heel for us.
  14. This is the lack of "it" factor with TT that I've noted on TV over the last two years. No presence, no leadership aura....just a dud.
  15. Hayward....that summarizes my thoughts about the defense, and you wrote it best. I overlooked what the total impact of what the portal transfers could be....because added to all the veterans and newbies on defense--this could end up being a very good defense this fall! (And the coaching is evident) Agree?
  16. I agree that Heisman caliber is not needed, but is TT good enough to beat Washington or Utah on the road? Arizona State? We may disagree on this, because I doubt Oregon can win a single game with Ty at QB.
  17. I can't believe I did that! As I was keyboarding it...I was thinking "Chase" but when the fingers punched it came out Chad and I did not even pick it up in proofreading! Goes to show how that 1994 team changed Oregon football and is burned into our subconscious. Good catch, and it is now corrected--thanks!
  18. In today's Eugene paper--Lanning was quoted as being pleased with how most of the kickoffs were deep in the end zone, or out of it. Both Cam Lewis and Andrew Boyle were doing that, although I give Cam the nod for a few yards longer. Punting averaged nearly 42 yards between both teams, thus it was not fantastic--but an improvement. Good stuff!
  19. In my view? No. The Pac-12 is going to be SO TOUGH this fall, that we will have a difficult time getting to 10 wins in the regular season even with Bo Nix, IMHO.
  20. When you think of the storied programs in the Pac-12 that have won multiple National Championships in Baseball, such as USC, Arizona State, Stanford, UCLA and Oregon State....it is astonishing to think that if Oregon wins on Sunday...they could be tied for first place among the eleven teams? Whew! Below is the current league standings, and if UCLA beat Stanford, and Oregon beats ASU on Sunday....the Ducks move a half game ahead of the Sun Devils and would be tied with Stanford. Wow. There is a lot of Baseball yet in the season with series coming up at USC, against the bastard Huskies at PK Park, and then at Utah. But if we win tomorrow--we have a real chance at the title! Calm down Charles! The Ducks are killing the ball, and while the pitching could be better--we are winning games!

  21. Thanks to all of you posting, and if anyone else has something to add--please do so! I am publishing a FishDuck article on Monday morning with my impressions/comments.
  22. A lot to digest?
  23. I was looking at the roster thinking about the pitching options for this weekend, when I stumbled on a stunning set of facts that amazed me about Oregon Baseball. Our Beloved Ducks had an "iffy" pitching staff last year as new starters were going through their lumps. And I've noted great development in pitchers like Logan Mercado (today's starter) and our new Friday ace, Jace Stoffal. I anticipated the same kind of growth with four other pitchers, but all have been out all season due to injury! 2022 Starter: RJ Gordon 2022 Starter: Isaac Ayon 2022 Starter: Andrew Mosiello 2022 Relief: Stone Churby Good gosh! Three starters out? How in world did we win 29 games thus far? Surviving on the new freshmen with their learning curve? It is rumored that one or more might be available by the end of the season, but we know they would be very rusty and used in occasional relief. Potentially--it can set up next year with a very strong pitching staff, but it sure highlights the incredible job that Coach Waz and his staff has done. Isaac Ayon

  24. And in my view....they did not appreciate the value of what they had before all of this began. We figured in 2020 a football scholarship in terms of total benefits came out to nearly 2 million dollars... 25. As much as I want to see an offensive display, a rolling out of the Will Stein offense--I don't think it is going to happen, (for two primary reasons) and upon reflection...I don't want it too! Reason No. 1: We must see improvement in the pass rush by the defensive line, as Lanning has made huge commitments in recruiting high school and portal transfer players specifically for that purpose. At one time, (before all the transfers began) we had 12 players for the Edge Rusher spot when we needed four or five. The process of finding out who can play is key, and soon, for all the roster planning that has to take place later. Thus you will have some very highly motivated young edge-rushers wanting to put on a show. Add to that how one of the best offensive linemen is out for the Spring Game, (transfer Junior Aguilar) and how the experienced offensive linemen will be spread out over two offensive lines, thus some rookies are lined up to be schooled by Popo, Taki, Dorlus, Burch, etc. etc. It will happen, as this is typical in a spring game. Pass protection is hard. Reason No. 2: Whether you are Dan Lanning, Will Stein or a fan....do you really need to see what Bo Nix can do? No, we know Bo. Thus, if it were me....after a few series with Nix...both sides will have newbie QBs running the show (and Ty Thompson) to see what they can do. They are inexperienced at the speed of the game, pocket presence, panicking at key moments, as we see from all young QBs. This to me shouts for a primarily defensive Spring Game that will disappoint most fans, but frankly--is what the team needs? Thoughts? But hey....I can be moved to a different conclusion. (And I'm often wrong!)
