Chip Kelly: Oregon Can’t Beat Us With 11, Only With 12
Charles Fischer replied to a topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Well! That did not take long for Chip to adopt the mindset that some Buckeye fans have; "We did not get beat by the other team...we beat ourselves or the refs beat us." I have to assume that not only is he taking on that attitude, but he is also playing to the massive Ohio State audience. And I have to think that some of the things written about his track record since he left Oregon have stung him over the years, as he is a very stubborn and proud man. Could you imagine Dan Lanning saying that in public? No, as he has more class than that. Sure builds things up for future games between the schools! -
There are two objectives; one is to be able to publish as many spam advertisement posts as possible, and if I and the moderators did not intervene....there would have been 15 pages of spam posts when you showed up on the morning of Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving last year. We have 50 posts per page, and you can do the math as to how many they posted. Together, we deleted them as they appeared, and then I would go into the Admin dashboard and lock the spammer who signed up in our registration system. But then they would sign up with a new name and IP address, or and associate would do so. It was a busy night and morning. I assume they get paid by the spam messages placed? Don't know. The second objective is trying to take over a site so their spam ads will be seen by thousands until everyone realizes the site has been invaded and do not return. They are very persistent. Now they have AI helping them to try by automation to sign up, and thus far--I've been able to detect the difference between spammers and real people. There have been a few that I was unsure, so if I call the phone number and nothing exists, or wrong number--I know it is a spammer. A nice vacuum of my time...

From what I've seen of interviews with players being recruited over the years....the most important person to them is their position coach. A "scout" cannot have the same relationship, or same connection. But what do I know?

Make that SEVENTEEN times as another from Lobnya tried again last night...whew! Yes, when we had a coordinated attack from a dozen of them on Thanksgiving night a year ago...the time spent was significant in dealing with it. That is why I created the manual approval process, as it is a hassle, but it saves a TON of time if a Spammer gets in.

Krasnomayskiy, Tver Oblast St. Petersburg Leningradskaya, Krasnodar Krai (Twice) Lobnya (Five times) Moscow (Seven times) SIXTEEN times in the last month this forum has been attacked by Spammers in Russia. But they are from ALL-OVER Russia and it is unusual. It is routine to get attacks from Russia, India, Pakistan, China, Ukraine and even from parts of the US. But this many times from different places in Russia makes me think it is a coordinated attempt to penetrate our registration system to mess-us-up. My new system requires that I personally check out each new registrant, and have to manually approve them. Thus nobody gets through, but damn! A black-hole of time... Krasnomayskiy St. Petersburg It's a slow time, and thought I'd share my fascination with it all.

Moving to a higher profile program is something I can understand, but this I cannot. Clearly, there is quite a background story to this...

Duck Fans - Have Faith in Will Stein

I don't agree with that perception, because Oregon has won too many games in the past with new formations, new plays and new surprises thrown in at key moments. We have seen unpracticed-in-game plays used by Lanning, and before that we saw a ton under Helfrich and Chip Kelly as OCs. It got to be a guessing game for me when Chip was coach....how long had the play been in the playbook, and now used for the first time? I've detailed before how a play had not been run in four years--and was sprung to score a TD. Coaches do this all the time, IMHO. (P.S. I don't think the pass plays that hurt us in the Rose Bowl had been used in games before by Ohio State)

Great article David, and fantastic research. I remain in my own offensive delusion; I believe we purposely held back a ton of the passing offense to unleash in the Playoffs. Then with Stewart out... In the B1G...there is only a team or two that require you to score tons of points to win, hence no need to show the playbook versus a team you will handle easily regardless of the number of points scored. I still believe that we did not get to see the best yet, because if I had been the OC...it makes sense to "just win the games" and throw new stuff at the elite teams you face in the Playoff. Perhaps we will see this play out in the future....or my opinion turns is confirmed to be my own induced delusion. Either way...

Reflections on Ohio State Going Into Title Game?
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
See “Directions” at the top…all the other sites “make-you-figure-out,” while I provide actual directions for everyone. And nobody reads them! -
A'Mauri Washington or Bear Alexander? We do have Jericho Johnson and some other young guns. Click on "Repository" at the top of the front page of the forum, then on ChileDuck Depth Chart for more options...

Still unknown, as details are being worked out. But at the moment the rumor is that he WILL return, and we will get an announcement soon regardless of his decision. He is allowed another year due to the new JUCO rule, and a second year in the system will help his coverage skills that much more. If this turns out true, then we will return a pretty experienced secondary... He is a very sure open-field tackler...

The Gap Between Oregon and Washington is Getting B1G
Charles Fischer replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Meh. I get it, as it is tough as a writer finding topics at this time. That was pretty good clickbait that has some truth--dependent upon how you view it. My take? Fisch performed a MIRACLE at Arizona, as they were so bad for so long and he was actually able to recruit great players there. He coached them up to be in the top 15 in the nation in a short time. He is a great coach who will be trouble for us in the future, no doubt. In the meantime... -
In 2023, Lanning signed 14 Portal transfers, in 2024 it was 12, and in 2025 it is nine. As our young talent emerges, we will take fewer from the portal as we thought would occur. I believe we always will take some portal talent, but more like what Ohio State is doing now. If the Buckeyes are doing it with the incredible Blue-Chip roster they have, I am sure the Ducks will continue.

Cronin's Comments on the UCLA Players Say More About Him.
Charles Fischer replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Coach Cronin...if you have soft players, and soft assistant coaches....WHO hired the coaches? WHO decided which players to recruit? WHO is responsible? -
The article says he does, if he applies for a medical redshirt for this past year. (Cam McCormick knows a ton about that) But he has not announced yet if he is applying, or if he has--or his plans. If not available, then I thought David luli did a decent job at right guard, and will be better for his senior year.

Nebraska was ranked last year, and went to the NCAA tournament as Indiana did. I do believe that USC is going to make noise and be ranked later--as well as be a tough series for us. The four former Pac-12 teams will elevate the baseball in the B1G, especially Oregon! All-Time Home Run King, Jacob Walsh is Back!
