  1. Great post Mike. The Saturday Down South boys have been saying for some time that UGA will have to play Danielson to beat Bama. I don't see it. Bama simply cannot run the ball and the Tide will not be able to run against the UGA D. The 17 points that TN scored on Saturday is the most the UGA D has surrendered this season. I think Bama is over ranked at 2? It has been a fascinating season. More reliance on solid D than in recent years. On Saturday the Baylor D shut down the OK O. OK ST is winning with D and not with Gundy's usual O. Ole Miss did a great job holding down the A+M O on Saturday. The Pirate is still throwing it around. Heck of a comeback at Auburn. And MS ST is also playing good D. This Saturday if Oregon runs the ball like it did at UW and vs WAZZU it will win in SLC. It was on the road for the Utes but OR ST stayed with the run game and defeated Utah in Corvallis. Both Baylor and San Diego State bottled up the Utah O.
  2. So many jobs open including some biggies. Will Sark last more than a year at Texas? Dan Mullen at Florida is on mighty thin ice. Will USC be able to attract a big name guy?
  3. It's been 6 years for AB, the long ball is not all of a sudden going to show up. The guy has been a very good game manager this season. He has scored a lot of important TDs running the ball. Interesting that #1 UGA has a similar game manager QB in Stetson Bennett. Do not stretch AB's ability. Calling for a long ball throw late in the game at UCLA was a big mistake.
  4. Mike, I'll believe OH ST is all that after the MI ST game Saturday and the game at MI? Purdue is an up and down team. OH ST has blown out the lesser opponents this season and played close games vs the tougher opponents. Especially, on the road. Did you watch the OH ST at Nebraska game? OH ST at Minnesota? IMO, the MI win Saturday at a desperate Penn ST was every bit as solid as OH ST's home win vs Penn State. MI for some reason alternated QBs in the 4th Q in E Lansing. The true frosh QB turned the ball over on back to back possessions in the 4th Q. And Michigan had a TD overturned that the B1G acknowledged should not have been overturned. IMO, this is a very good front-running Ohio State team but it is not a cream of the crop OH ST team.
  5. EXACTLY. If Riley didn't like the FG attempt he and AD Castilogne could have worked to change the rules in the off season. Recall that OK said, " you aren't good enough for us B12." Do you think anyone in the conference gives a whip about what OK and UT think? If you think the scene in Waco was wild, just wait for the Bedlam Game when OK trips to OK ST. OK and UT stabbed Bob Bowlsby and the B12 in the back. Why? So they could make more $. I don't blame these 2, but if they didn't think there would be blow back they are not up to Jimmy Lakes' 'academically prowess' standards.
  6. Great point. But 4 means vs UGA in the Orange Bowl. 3 means playing a team not as good as UGA in the Cotton Bowl. I do not see Bama defeating UGA? Finish 3 and it is possibly a rematch against OH ST?
  7. I think you are probably right? Personally, I hate this whole 'body of work' BS. MI should not be ranked above MI ST. Projecting that Oregon would not win the games OH ST wins in the B1G is simply conjecture. If OH ST and OR finish 12-1, OR should be ranked above OH ST. If this isn't the case why bother to play a team the quality of OH ST OOC? Play TX Tech, Fresno and Portland St OOC and go 8-1 in the conference, 9-1 with a champ game win and you are in. "Body of work," SOR, strength of game control, etc., just proves up what we know: This is not a Playoff it is an Invitational. It is not an NCAA event, it is a Disney/ESPN event. Go to 12, 5 P5 champs in, top G5 team in and 6 AL and you have something resembling a PO. This is the Pac-12 compromise position which is likely to be adopted on or about 12/1/21.
  8. Fickell already passed on the MI ST job. Fickell will be coaching in the B12. If the PO field, as expected, expands to 12 teams per the Pac-12 format, Cincy will be in a very good position to win the B12 and advance or to advance as an AL team. Basically, he's already a P5 coach with a solid roster and foundation at Cincy. He has 6 kids and both him and his spouse are Midwest folks.
  9. If Cincy defeats SMU Saturday and Ducks lose at Utah, Cincy moves into the top 4. Cincy is getting all kinds of PO love from ESPN and many other talking heads. Watch Tuesday to see if SMU and/or Houston are ranked. This would give a bump to Cincy's SOS.
  10. I believe Del Rio recently noted that he has no interest coaching in college. Recruiting, CFB free agency, keeping track of the portal? Lots of stuff many guys in the pros want nothing to do with. I don't think today's recruits are that tuned in to Jack?
  11. I think 1-4 hold steady this week but if OH ST defeats MI ST and OR wins at Utah I think OH ST jumps OR in the CT week 4 rankings. Utah is -3.
  12. UGA is of course getting all the D love. But the Ducks? Great efforts. But it will be feathers to wall next week? Will this Ducks D be able to stop the Utes run game? By Mario standards, last week was a 'one more than a 1 score W is a lights out win. The good news! The Flaky Prediction Index gives Oregon a 37.7 percent chance to win in SLC. It will be 50K fantastically fired up fans versus about a 1,000 of 'US? ' I LIKE THE ODDS! GO DUCKS!
  13. Fickell, Franklin, Bill O'Brien, Matt Ruhle, Brian Kelly, Joe Moorhead (Just say NO, Joe) , Mike Leach, Lane Kiffen, Dave Aranda, Matt Campbell, Bob Stoops; Mark Stoops, Coach Pete, Mel Tucker; not Sark. For the good of the conference and the upcoming media deal a NAME is needed. So watch them elevate the OC, Graham Harrel? Should WSU keep its Pinch Hitter. Dikehert (sp?), Norvell, Chip Kelly, Rocky Long, SDS Brennan, Joe Moorhead?
  14. HE GONE! Bruce Feldman : Sitake, -BYU; Norvell - NV; DeBoer- Fresno; Wilcox - CAL; Moorhead -OC Ducks; Brennan - San Jose St; Kelly, - UCLA.
  15. 1? Try after 2:30 on the Right Coast. Thank goodness for No-Doz. That and sleep-preventing Pepper Vodka. Garnished with hot peppers. SKOL!
  16. THIS is a tough fire even for cause. The PC crowd will be piling on for not giving an African-American HC at least another season after 'winning' the North in 2020. Joe Moorhead?
  17. This was a look-ahead game for Utah. I think there may have been more stray dogs in the stands in Tucson than fans? Embarrassing but par for the Pac-12 course. Oregon gives an even split of $ to these CFB Arizona football losers? INSANE! Never, not once, have these Wildcats played in the Rose Bowl; except, vs UCLA in a regularly scheduled game. Why doesn't Zona just join the WACC? The AZ football coach is paid less than many the G5 football HC. No wonder Oregon is on CFB PO thin ice. Puddles Pac-12 friends suck.
  18. This happens when ESPN broadcasts on the cheap. And of course when Pac-12 refs are calling the game.
  19. Mom's home cooking may well trump more bread coming in from outside Eugene? So many HC dominoes to fall and after Florida's sorry effort yesterday UF could be one of the dominoes? ASU won at UW yesterday but is Herm's job safe?
  20. Good thoughts. Is Ashford still playing baseball and if so, will this help keep him in the fold? Ashford's dual threat ability could have him in the QB mix next year? Every time i look at Camden Lewis I think that you never know the player who will make a big leap from one year to the next?
  21. FWIW, The Athletic's Andy Staples thinks that this proposal will be approved. A sound compromise all the way around.
  22. Fortunately, the game is not buried on the Pac-12 Network and is a reasonable 7:30 KO time back east. Chris + Herbie will be in Columbus but the ABC back up crew is not that bad.
  23. Makes sense. Sets the stage for the Bucks to leap the Ducks. If we get Jos Tessitore expect a shoot out.
  24. And THIS is pre-portal possibilities. It will be interesting to see how many Ducks flock to the portal? I figure at least 1 QB and possibly a couple of WRs?
  25. The MI team like Mario usually didn't seal the deal until very late in the game? But Oregon did cover the 13.5.
