No Thanks: ESPN Predicts Ohio State-Oregon Rematch
CBS has the Ducks playing Michigan State in the Rose Bowl. So fluid at this point in time before the B1G E 'round robin' concludes. Watching the Bucks vs PSU Saturday I think both MI and MI ST have a shot of beating Ohio State? Of course when it comes to ESPN, it wants both Bama and UGA in the final 4 and Cincy, so it can pull at your heart strings with a 'little guy' story. My story? A 12-1 Oregon is in and I'm sticking to it!

TEAR DOWN THAT STATUE!
Seriously, I think Michigan and Michigan St are both quality teams this season. It is no longer just about recruiting. Michigan had far more highly ranked recruits on the field in E Lansing than did Sparty. Mel Tucker beamed in 40 (!) guys from the portal who he molded into a team in a short period of time. One of these guys, RB Walker who transferred in from Wake Forest, is a legitimate contender for the Heisman. One of these 2, I think, will play in the Rose Bowl and MI ST is in PO contention and will be highly ranked Tuesday night; likely above both Oregon and Ohio State? Nebraska was never a 'fit' for the B1G. Nebraska was never the same after being blown out by Miami in the 2001 BCS champ game; a Oregon should have played in. Nebraska made terrible coaching fires and hires: Callahan and Pelleni? Frank Solich never should have been fired. Nebraska in the B1G is a corn cob out of its husk. Money matters but with Texas gone a move back to the B12 might make sense for Nebraska?

52-29? Just Like the “Good Ol’ Days!” And Time to Give Credit…
I got nothin'. Perfect write up of a FUN game. Next case: Shut 'Em Up in Seattle.

We SURE Could Have Used Him...
The SMU at Cincy game will be interesting and Cincy if things hold, will not have an easy champ game vs Houston. With half decent coaching, or less, SMU never should have lost at Houston. But lose it did. 30 seconds left Sonny Dykes, you have the lead and KO deep to the best KO returner CFB? GO TO YOU ROOM! Houston is now ahead of Cincy in the AAC standings. And Houston's 1L came at TX TECH when Shough was healthy. I do not see Cincy going 13-0?

And I could win the lottery? But I guess I'd have to buy a ticket? Good news regarding Mario. Diaz with back to back Ws over NC ST and Pitt is for now, off the Miami hot seat.

Ty Thompson Pulled: "No Conversation to be Had"
How are Michigan fans responding to Harbaugh in the 4th Q putting in a true frosh who produced back to back turn overs instead of keeping in Junior QB McNamara (from Reno) who was playing great in the game? Lots of damned if you do or don't in this situation. Play the 5* or they are gone? But frosh will make frosh mistakes. Just like OK's Williams did last week at Kansas. Michigan State dramatically outcoached Michigan in the 4th Q of the game in E Lansing. Harbaugh is 2-9 vs ranked teams on the road. And in TT's case, it's not like AB was having a bad game, he wasn't. Perhaps this should shut up many of us including me, who want to see more of TT ? With Oregon's remaining SOS, style points are going to matter; hopefully, on the day of the final Committee Poll. Even at 12-1 Oregon could be on PO thin ice.

CINCY would as of now play Houston in the AAC champ game.

Ohio State Ahead of Oregon: People are Outraged...
But unfortunately, TCB next Saturday means defeating a team that Michigan toyed with and a team that lost to an FCS school on its home field. THIS is Oregon's problem. It has little to gain in victory and everything PO-wise, to lose in defeat. There are no 'make up' games in this conference.

TEAR DOWN THAT STATUE!
RR is happier now that the litigation against him and AZ has been dismissed. If Joe Moorhead was to trip to a vacancy, I failed to mention WAZZU, RR would not be a bad OC, except for the PR, hire. I will not be surprised if the Nebraska job opens up. And whatever guy goes to LSU/USC will tip a lot of coaching dominoes. New 'hot guy' is Dave Aranda. Who grew up in California. Outstanding effort as a DC in the SEC and has turned Baylor around in year 2. After Saturday, LSU has to be all-in on Mel Tucker who played ball at Wisconsin but has extensive pro and SEC coaching experience. The last guy LSU hired from MI ST turned out to be a damn good hire. Some guy named Nick Saban.

WEEK 9 AP POLL - 12 or 8 THE DUCKS ARE IN
With the PO Committee Poll arriving on Tuesday night we may see a different calculus but this is the PO scenario using the last 2021, relevant AP Poll. NOTE: The 10 commissioners and the ND have not dumped expanding the PO field. Discussions regarding same are scheduled for next week. Too much $ is involved to put this topic away before the 2026 season. 12 Teams: 1 UGA -SEC vs 9 Michigan AL at 8 Notre Dame AL 2. CINCINNATI - AAC vs 10 Wake ACC at 7 Oregon Pac-12 3. OK - B12 vs 11 OK ST AL at 6 Ohio State AL 4. Michigan State - Big10 vs 12 Auburn AL at 5 Alabama AL 8 teams with all P5 champs in. 1. UGA - SEC vs 8 Wake Forest - ACC 2. Cincinnati - G5 vs 7 Oregon - Pac -12 3. Alabama - AL vs 6 Ohio State - AL 4. Oklahoma - B12 vs 5 Michigan State - Big 10 MY guess? 12 will be adopted with no conference being allowed more than 3 entrants. And possibly, ND if it wants independence, having to play 13 regular season games? But Alliance or not, the ACC, Pac-12, reconstituted B12, Notre Dame and the G5 cannot leave expansion money behind.

Gary Patterson out at TCU. A Rose Bowl winner. And a guy whose likeness sits outside of the stadium. USC, LSU, TEXAS TECH, TCU all open.

Ty Thompson Pulled: "No Conversation to be Had"
SMU? Maybe Houston instead? SMU had the game at Houston in hand with under a minute left and Sonny Dykes decides to KO deep to one of if not the best return guys in the Country? Thanks Sonny. Here's your $M + pay check. As of now, Cincy has both SMU and Houston down the road. Both AP ranked. Houston 20 and SMU 23. No ranked team for Oregon to play against.

Winner of Colorado Prediction Contest is...
Thank you, Sir! Despite my hubris in dissing the ESPN's Bear Bank, I missed on Ole Miss but both Wake and Miami covered. 14-9 for the season ATS with 1 straight up win. But in all humility, and even with a shave, a hair cut and better threads, I look and looked, no where close as good as does the man in the photo.

College Football Championship Selection Committee Protocol
On the Committee, Rich George AD at CU and an also a female professor at ASU. It is not a PO, it is an invitational. Disney owns ESPN and ESPN owns the ACC and SEC Networks. You practiced law. In a court of law testimony from ESPN would be excluded for bias. But in the world of CFB?

Ohio State Ahead of Oregon: People are Outraged...
FACTS ARE DIFFICULT THINGS TO IGNORE - John Adams COMMITTEE - 1 UGA without any doubt. Then what? Cincinnati 8-0 - Strength of Record (SOR) 7 - Strength of Schedule - 103 Ohio State 7-1 - SOR - 20 - SOS - 93 Oregon 7-1 - SOR - 12 - SOS - 15 And BTW, a win over tOSU on the road without the Ducks best player available for the game. Maybe CIN being 8-0 and with a SOR of 7 deserves to be ranked ahead of Ohio State and Oregon, but no way should Oregon be ranked behind Ohio State.

WEEK 9 (AND PO COMMITTEE WEEK 1) GAMES WITH A PLAYOFF PUNCH
NJDuck, how many conference members have the will and the money to compete against the best at the highest level in college football? I think many of the Pac-12 'leaders' would be happy to go the way of the Big East, drop football and focus on basketball? More and more I find this lack of leadership ticking me off because Oregon does not deserve these kind of partners. I hope Oregon does not pledge its media rights to the conference without testing say, the B12 waters? To get Oregon the B12 might well pay a premium for Oregon's media rights? AS it did for OK and TX. So long OK and TX, but with the 4 schools the B12 is adding it will be a stronger football conference than the Pac-12.
-
Whew! Life in the Pac-12...
The conference is a garbage dump. Oregon is the only team with fewer than 3Ls. Bust your guts to go 11-1 and that brings you the reward of playing a 3L + team for a championship in front of a whole bunch of empty seats in Vegas? In this conference, does keeping or dropping divisions make any difference? Is there any evidence other than the Beavers play, At Home that is, that any team in the conference not named Oregon is going to step it up? 2022 recruiting rankings for one say , "No!." But Oregon gets the same pay cut?

Oregon At Washington Set For 4:30 P.M. On ABC
That's 7:30 in the sports viewing challenged part of the world. ABC is one heck of a lot better than ESPN 2 or Larry's Lost Network.

Sweet and sour, both. A sad but beautiful reflection. Miss every hound I ever owned.

Fear, Which Unit?
AB - 25-31 307 yards, 3 TDs should not be ignored. The D finally had the luxury of not having to save a W. 29 points put up by CU trouble me not.

WEEK 9 (AND PO COMMITTEE WEEK 1) GAMES WITH A PLAYOFF PUNCH
The problem is that the Ducks is the only team in the conference with fewer than 3Ls. Hopefully with Fresno's victory over SDS, the Bulldogs are #25 in the AP Poll, Fresno will be ranked by the CT? Ohio St has MI, MI ST left and most likely a top 25 team in the B1G champ game Go 11-1 and the Ducks will play a south champion with at least 3 Ls. Senseless Larry follow the leader BS. The Beavers do not travel well. ASU players appear to have given up on Herm. WSU players have not given up with a interim HC. If you watched Stanford/UW yesterday you have to ask how in the heck did UO lose to Stanford? SC defeated the worst P5 team in all of football but Drake London is out for the rest of the season. Utah after the moving ceremony came through. Could have added OK ST, TX Tech, SMU, TCU , Houston and BYU? But none are good enough fit for the Pac-12, right?
