Oregon finished the season 7-2-1. 1-2-1 in the Athletic Association of Western Universities. Two of OBD's five home games were played in Multnomah Stadium in Portland. With the possible exception of Iowa, I agree. Indiana at Iowa on Saturday is an under-the-radar B1G game. Unfortunately, the game will be streamed on Peacock.

If offered, Kiffin would be off to Gainsville before you could say: Hotty Toddy. It would be Lane's 3rd SEC job. Florida has won national championships and has the resources and the homegrown high school talent to do so again. I don't see anyone without head coaching experience at the Power-4 level getting the gig. Napier moved on up from Louisiana U and hasn't done the job. The Arkansas AD, before this week's loss to Memphis, noted that the Hogs do not have the resources to be the SEC's champion in football.😧But, after losing to memphis it would be just like Arkansas to beat Notre Dame on Saturday. I think Will Stein has a much better chance of being offered a job in the Big Ten or with a Texas located B12 school, Baylor perhaps, than an SEC job.

Penn State's record in White Out games is 12-8. PSU has won the last five games. No wins over a top 10 opponent in the last five. With the new media deal, PSU does not always play the opponent they want to play in a White Out. 2024 saw the game vs. Ohio State as the Big Noon game. Ohio State was the WO game PSU wanted to play. Instead, the WO was against Washington. The five straight WO wins include last season's PO win against SMU. James Franklin and PSU's biggest WO win came in 2016 when the Nits defeated Ohio State 24-21. Two-loss PSU won the B1G that season, but one-loss Ohio State was chosen for the PO. Ohio State was mugged by Clemson. Penn State was beaten by USC in the Rose Bowl, 52-49, Clay Helton's SC high-water mark. PSU got what it wanted this season. A WO game vs. top 10 Oregon. James Franklin's record vs. top 10 teams is 4-20. 1-15 against top 5-ranked teams, with the win coming over Ohio State in 2016. I doubt that the WO crowd on Saturday will be louder than what OBD has experienced in Seattle and Salt Lake City before the game turned into a blowout vs. Utah. Big Ten coaches voted Beaver Stadium as the loudest in the conference. Josh Pate, among many others, not caring about giving the nod to newbie OBD, ranks Autzen No. 1.

With two ranked opponents coming up in the next three weeks, I think this is exactly where Dan wanted the team to be. 4-0, things to fix, with the Ducks still flying somewhat off the radar. This Saturday, all of the pressure will be on James Franklin and Penn State. Following the model of 2023-24 champ Michigan, and 2024-25 Ohio State, PSU has many of its top players back, and added good players out of the portal, and like the champion Wolverines and the Buckeyes, played against thin air out of conference. PSU fans are in Natty or bust mode. Jim Knowles is a great D coordinator, no doubt. However, OBD is 1-1 versus Knowles, and Caleb Williams is not on PSU's roster. OBD's wins will not rock the boat, but two wins came against P4 opponents, including a win on the road vs. Northwestern. And going on the road and winning against a B1G opponent is a plus for OBD. In chomping down three cupcakes, PSU's D has looked the part, and the run game has performed, but Allar is still Drew Allar. Like the question surrounding Clemson's Cade Klubnik, is Drew ready to win a B1G game against a roster his own size? Is James ready to win a big B1G game? I trust Dan to have OBD prepared to play its best game of the season. No faux-furor needed to have the team ready to play this game. I think the game will be as close as the 2024 champ game, but I think OBD exits with the win. Neuter the Nits!

I get it! But Jonah Colman could be the best RB in the B1G, and Williams is a capable QB. This Saturday, I will not be surprised to see Williams play as well or better than TOSU's Julian Sayin.

Based on results to date, Miami could be ranked No. 1. Why is Ohio State No.1? A seven-point home win over overrated No. 10 Texas? Week 7? Hoosiers could be a hard Cig to stamp out in Autzen. The B1G headliner this week is OBD at Penn State. (DUH 😜) However, Indiana's first road game of the season at Iowa could be interesting. The Iowa D looked bad in the 1st half at Rutgers, but Phil Parker's D shut down the Rutgers O in the 2nd half. I was surprised by the score vs. Illinois, but not the manner in which the Hoosiers played. Cig did a great job of improving where Indiana most needed improvement, both LOS. Mendoza is a step up from Kurtis Rourke. And Indiana looks faster and quicker than last season. Google Cig, he wins! 😁

AMEN! Winning college football games is not easy. Even teams with poor rosters have rosters that would result in high school titles playing in the toughest high school conferences. OBD, No. 1 in the PO Committee's final 2024 ranking, is definitely one of the most hunted teams. And with Uncle Phil's role in the forefront of CFB coverage, and the weekly uni fashion show, one of the most hated. Oregon State was fired up to beat the team that, in the opinion of many Beavis fans, screwed OSU. OSU scored on a coverage bust, and that's all, folks. Montana State and OK State were swept aside in Eugene. OBD TCB'd against a P4 team on the road with a 9 AM body clock time start. On the road, close to every player who traveled played. Dan is not leaving the starters in to run it up or help Dante with Heisman stats. And, this team has not been immune to injury. Criticism, especially with the players bringing in a nice chunk of change, is fine. But no team based on talent alone will brush aside every opponent. Ask the good folks in Clemson, SC. The rubber hits the road this Saturday in Beaver (!) Stadium, and then two Saturdays later, when the Hoosiers visit Autzen. Put a Fork in the Franklins!
