How Much Help Did Ohio State Need to Beat Nebraska?
Help needed to defeat the Huskers? 27 straight losses to ranked teams. 35 straight losses in games decided by one score. 2-22 Matt Ruhle's record vs ranked college teams. (This does not include his pitiful Panthers NFL record.) Saturday's game featured terrible late game clock management by Ruhle. When it comes to being Husked, Nebraska needs no help. Oh, and no bowl of corn chowder or otherwise since 2016. The longest stretch among Power teams.

The Athletic's ($ Wall) Austin Mock's Post Week 9 Playoff Field
Mr. Mock Continues to have Puddles Flying High and Coming Up Roses. ROSE BOWL - 1 OREGON vs. 9. Indiana at 8. Texas FIESTA BOWL - 4. K State vs. 12. Boise State at 5. Ohio State PEACH BOWL - 2. Miami 😒vs. 10. Clemson at 7. Notre Dame SUGAR BOWL - 3. Georgia vs. 11. Tennessee at 6. Penn State Notre Dame. One third of the Domer's games are vs. the G5 and ND lost to one, NO. ILL. ND is Idle on Champ Game weekend. Notre Dame does have to get by FSU at home, after taking this Saturday off. The games vs. Georgia Tech and Navy and the game vs Army are all played at neutral sites, not true road games. ND caught A+M at the right time. SCAM. However, how many viewers would a Ducks vs Domers Rose Bowl game draw. 😍 Have to love the ACC. Clemson, Pitt, and SMU are undefeated in conference. Miami misses all three teams in the regular season. Pitt plays at SMU and plays Clemson in Pittsburgh. The Canes miss all three in the regular season. SCAM. The Field: 4 B1G, 3 SEC (where's A+M?); 2 ACC; 1 B12; 1 Independent; and 1 Mountain West, G5. Could Boise be seeded higher than the B12 champion? OBD has Mock's best odds of making the Playoff - 98%. Boise is 10 - 54%. The B12 team with the best odds is 13. K State - 47%. Bama is 12 - 50%. A+M is 16 - 32%. 20. LSU is 20. 13%. CU is Bowl Eligible. Will Prime follow Hunter and Son out-of-town? MASH MICHIGAN!

Quack Attack: Top-Ranked Ducks Pound No. 20 Illinois to Stay Perfect
Thanks, Jordan. Very nice wrap up of an OBD beat down. Michigan fought hard last night, overcame its woeful O and defeated Rival No. 2 Michigan State. Saturday is not That Team Down South but it is a Super Bowl like game for the Wolverines; a chance to redeem vs OBD. We're Still No. 1 and I cop to caring. The Big House will be rockin'. Two back up QBs had B1G games yeaterday. Penn State's Beau Pribula brought PSU back on the road in front of a raucous crowd in Mad City to set up next Saturday's Big Noon game vs Ohio State in Happy Valley. Indiana's Tayven Jackson did a fine job of leading Indiana to victory over UWho, the Hoosiers 8th win coming on Lee Corso Day in Bloomington. second time in its history Indy has won eight in a row. This is the second time since 1884 that the 'Losingist Team' in CFB has won eight in a row. 😁 Reluctantly, I give credit where due to Jedd Fisch. Before Saturday, UWho had outgained every opponent it had played but with atrocious Red Zone results. Before Saturday, UWho was ranked as the No. 1 tackling team in the country. Darn good effort when considering the Huskies have an almost entirely new coaching staff and two returning starters. The last regular season game for OBD will not be a lay up. Two of the B1GGEST conference games of the year will be contested next Saturday in the Midwest. James Franklin had to be the most relieved B1G coach to see the conference drop divisions but I imagine he'd rather have drawn Michigan this season and not Ohio State. Was Brutus looking ahead? Heck of bounce back by Nebraska after last week's blow out in Bloomington. There was D in Columbus but where did the O go? OBD opened at -16; O/U 48.5. When the B1G 2024 schedule was released did any of us Ducks Fanatics think Puddles would fly into Ann Arbor as a two TD + favorite? GO DUCKS! WASTE THE WOLVERINES!

Oregon's SURPRISE B1G Tour Continues...
It seemed a bit strange to have "SEC announcers" doing the game. I thought they did a great job, far better than the NBC boys. Dary Danielson went to Purdue. Brad Nessler is also a Midwest guy, a graduate on Mankato State U in Minnesota. I'd love to hear Danielson riff on this Ducks team vs the SEC teams he covered and slobbered over.

Oregon's SURPRISE B1G Tour Continues...
Thank you, Sir Charles. Games start so late on the Right Coast I score alert disappear for the day. The reason I kind of like Friday night games. The Number 20 team in the USA? Not Purdue. Not UCLA. The Number 20 team in the US of A never had a chance. I could not help but think about what one of Dan's mentors', Kirby Smart said after Danno's Ist game. "Dan will be just fine. He knows we have better players than he has." The difference in athleticism between OBD and Illinois was apparent form the 1st series on. Simply not a fair fight, which is nice 😍. Dan has assembled this talent not in the Southeast and the So-Cal recruiting happy hunting grounds but in the Northwest. REMARKABLE. Mash Michigan in the Large House!

Maybe Ohio State Just isn't That Good

Which Other Team Are You Pulling For On Saturday?
Tonight - BOISE STATE at UNLV / RUTGERS at SUC and the DODGERS. Saturday - INDIANA vs UWho / NAVY vs The Domers / FLORIDA STATE at MIA / VANDY vs The Water Bottle Bombers a/k/a Texas / UCF vs BYU / OKLAHOMA at Ole ($10M for This?) Miss / Kansas vs. K State / DUKE vs SMU / ARMY vs AFA / MO at Bama / A+M vs LSU and any team playing the xxxxxxx Yankees anytime, anywhere. Oh, and BOWDOIN 👍😍👍 at Trinity. Strength of Record, Strength of Schedule, and the B1G Race
30, I think it's close but Penn State wins. I hope this is the case because I want to see four B1G teams in the Playoff. With Bama's beat down of the Badgers, I don't see Wisky getting a bid unless it wins the B1G. Let PSU lose to tOSU which will goose OBDs SOS. Wisconsin's 3 staright B1G wins have come against B1G bottom feeders.

What a Major Pundit Says About Oregon vs. Illinois...

What a Major Pundit Says About Oregon vs. Illinois...
A Take on the Game from a Newspaper that Covers the Illini. https://www.register-herald.com/sports/national_sports/no-20-illinois-uses-no-1-oregons-ranking-as-motivation-heading-into-saturdays-meeting/article_7bee735f-f5fb-540e-b1ec-a9835423314c.html Bielema as the Wisconsin coach lost a close game to the Ducks in the 2012 Rose Bowl, 45-38. OBD is 1-2 vs. Illinois. With a 1-game 'win streak,' 34-31 in a game played in Eugene in September of 1995. GO DUCKS!

What a Major Pundit Says About Oregon vs. Illinois...
Great post, Charles. The Illini DL has smaller DTs but they are active and play godd complimentary football with the LBs. And it's not like OBD's OL played well vs. Purdue. It didn't. Purdue had the better run game. This is Super Bowl time for the illini. Illinois has the easiest remainging sterngth of schedule among teams still in contention for the B1G title. I expect Illinois, like it did at Penn State, will do everything it can to shorten the game. Illinois's No. 1 RB missed the Michigan game but is back this week. On the road at Penn State, Illinois briefly held a 7-point lead after scoring on its 1st drive but was shut out for the rest of the game by a stout PSU D. PSU is averaging 34.2 points a game, 28th in the nation, Illinois lost at PSU 21-7. Oregon pitched a shutout last week but the tackling was terrible. It was Purdue on a short week and a long flight so I get it. But Oregon better come with a far better attitude this Saturday. This is OBD's toughest remaining home game in 2024. GO DUCKS! No champagne for the boys from Champaign.

Strength of Record, Strength of Schedule, and the B1G Race
Strength of Record Rankings (SOR) include Strength of Schedule (SOS), the strength of a team's opponents, game control, and other factors to determine how a team has preformed to date against its schedule compared to 133 other teams that, in theory, are competing for an invitation to the 2024/25 College Football Playoff (Playoff.) SOR also includes a ranking of a team's remaining SOS (RSOS.) The Playoff Committee (supposedly) pays attention to SOR, especially when determining tie-breakers between teams. After Week 8, the following is the SOR rankings for B1G teams in the running for the B1G title and Playoff, the teams on Oregon's schedule not in the B1G title and Playoff hunt, and a ranking of the teams remaining RSOS. 1. Georgia - Shout out to the Dawgs for moving up to SOR No. 1. This will happen when you give the No. 1 team the worst beating for a No. 1 ranked team playing at home since 1982. Desmond Howard: "Texas showed up for a football game. Georgia showed up for a street fight." To date, UGA's SOS is No. 4 and UGA's remaining SOS is 10. No easy day out Athens's way. 21. Boise State - SOS - 65/ RSOS - 81 - Boise is ranked 17 in the AP Poll and is -3.5 vs UNLV in Las Vegas Friday night. 7:30 CBSSN. Puddles needs the Broncos and RB Jeanty to Keep on Bucking. THE B1G - 2. OREGON - SOS - 39/ RSOS - 25. When you play one of the worst teams in the country no matter the final score your SOR will drop. OBD drops one spot after Week 8 which is nice considering the results of the Ducks first two games. Keep winning and the Committee (in theory) will have no reason to drop the Ducks based on the schedule played. 5. Penn State - SOS - 70/ RSOS - 16 11. Indiana - SOS - 109/ RSOS - 23 16. Ohio State - SOS - 36/ RSOS - 20 17. Illinois - SOS - 58/ RSOS - 31 30. Wisconsin - SOS - 33/ RSOS - 29 Ranked at 30, the Badgers would be a Basketball Committee Quad 1 road win. If college football had pods, road wins at the top 40 would probably be Quad 1 wins. Penn State plays a night game in Mad City on Saturday. B1G Teams Out of Conference and Playoff Contention and On OBD's Schedule - 47. Michigan - SOS 22/ RSOS - No. 7 - I guess Harbaugh did tick off a lot of folks. 58. Maryland - SOS 54/ RSOS - 14 If only the Terps could play USC every week. 😁 65. UWho - SOS 79/ RSOS - No. 4. On King! On you Huskies! 😁 B1G and Playoff Contenders Ranked By Remaining SOS. 16. Penn State/ 20. Ohio State/ 23. Indiana/ 25. OREGON/ 29. Wisconsin/ 31. Illinois. But for 8 straight games without a break and travel to the Eastern and Central time zones in November, on paper, the schedule is 'manageable.' With (THE) a Ducks win on Saturday, the Illini will no longer be fighting for B1G and Playoff rewards. May There Be No Champagne on the flight home to Champaign 😍. Playoff Plus Take - Do Not Give Me Liberty! +26.5 K(ennesaw) State 27 - Liberty 24 😁

FORGET the 2025 Season: Ducks Better Savor This Year…
Thanks, Charles, I think? Seriously, this was a great update looking ahead to the 2025 roster. In Ann Arbor this season there is frustration, but Wolverines fans are still basking in the after glow of a Natty. I'll definitely trade a frustrating 2025 season for a National Championship on 1/20/25. Let's look at the 2025/26 schedule. OOC - Montana State instead of Idaho - W, OK State - The Cowboys are having a bad season with almost the entire team on O back. I see Gundy with a 'brand new team' getting head-butted in Autzen - W. I'm more worried about Beaver Clever 😁 than Beavis. 3-0 I'm trusting Danno and Stein to have the Ducks playing good O headed into the 2025 B1G season and also to have top drawer recruits ready to play on D as augmented by Portal pickups. The Portal 'recruiting' will be aided and abetted by Division Street. Oregon in 2025 does play 5 B1G road games. However, Oregon will have a Blue Chip Roster. The only team on the schedule certain to be Blue Chip is Penn State. (How many 4*stars will bail out of South Central?) The Ducks play at PSU next season. This could be a loss, no doubt. USC 😁, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and what could be a tough Indiana team visit Autzen. I'm calling 4-0 in home territory. In addition to Penn State, in 2025 OBD is on the road at Iowa, Northwestern, Rutgers, and UWho. Oregon loses Gabe, UWho loses Will Rogers. Will UWho's new starter be as productive as the QB Stein puts on the field. This is not a daunting road schedule. Not terrible travel. 2 trips to the Central time zone, one to NW, and 2 trips to the Eastern time zone, one to Rutgers. NO Ohio State and NO Michigan on the 2025 regular season schedule. Ceiling 11-1. Floor 9-3. Likely 10-2. 10-2 with a P4 OOC win likely returns Oregon to the playoff. And look out for the 2026/27 team! The CFB champ game in 2027 will be played in Las Vegas. Bama lost stud after stud to the NFL and won titles. Danno has OBD on a Saint Nick trajectory. The future's so bringht 😍.
