No. 3 PENN STATE -6.5 at 5-2 Wisconsin - 4:30 NBC. Wisconsin with one conference loss is very much in the B1G conference title hunt. With three staright wins, the Badgers have moved inside the SP+ top 30. In Basketball, this would be a Quad 1 game. 6:30 kickoff in Mad City. A well lubed crowd should be ready to Jump Around. No. 12 - Notre Dame -11.5 vs No. 24 Navy - 9 ABC - 1963 was the last year that Navy defeated a ranked Notre Dame team. The winner of this game will be in 1st place in the SEC. This is the first time since Saint Nick's first season at Bama in 2007 that no SEC teams are undefeated in October. 😍 GO DUCKS! No Champagne for the Illini!
  3. Illinois is 3-13 all-time vs. No. 1 opponents. The last of the 3 wins came in Columbus on 11/10/2007. The No. 13 Illini matched up vs. No. 7 USC in the 2008 Rose Bowl. USC 49 - Illini 17. This will be Illinois's first match-up against a No. 1 team other than Ohio State since 1972. The 6-1 Illini's lone loss came on the road against No. 3 Penn State, 7 - 21. Illinois scored on its first possession and did not score again. Illinois is 3-1 vs teams in the top 25 when they played Illinois. 19 Kansas, 22 Nebraska lost to Illinois in OT, and 24 Michigan.
  4. Ten Teams That SUC. The Portal King Has No Clothes! College football's 10 most disappointing teams, from Auburn to USC and several places in between - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM Eight teams who were ranked in the preseason are staring down a nightmarish fall.
  5. Caption for the posted photo: 'Brother, I tried Weight Watchers and so should you!' In the preseason I scoffed at two preseason computer predictions. The first was ALgorithm predicting a close win against Boise State. This will Never Happen, LOL! 😒 The Same AL predicted Illinois would defeat Oregon. GULP! Incinerate Illinois!
  6. Thank you, Darren, for another very enjoyable read. I hate to kick someone or something that is down but I am happy to make an exception here. 😍 Before Loser Larry added CU and Utah to save face from not bringing in Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas A+M, USC did receive a larger share of the proceeds. Based on market share, the prime statistic in 2010 when the Pac-10 went to the Pac-12, SC was certainly entitled to a bigger slice of the Pac pie. USC never got over this 'slight.' I find it interesting that SC 'joined' the B1G approximately two years before the Pac-12 media deal expired and like Oregon 😒 the Trojans paid a 'B1G Exit Fee' to the Pac-12 (2) when no exit fee was payable. There are suckers and schmucks but Larry and the enabling Leaders of the Pac were first in line. Then, 10 bozos paid millions in getaway fees they were not contractually obligated to pay. And Larry's dopey successor wasn't smart enough, at $3M+ a year, to appease SC. Thank goodness OBD caught the last plane out and did not take a bite of a rotten Apple. Thanks again.
  7. Dennis Dodd Supports OBD Members Who Have Called For Centralized College Officiating. How one controversial call in Georgia-Texas sparked widespread fallout: Fines, fury and now maybe reform - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM Was the decision to pick up the flag after Texas students provided ample time to consult the jumbotron the turning point college football officiating needed?
  8. There Are At Least 21.5 Reasons Why THIS Will Not Happen. Illinois football has chance to cause chaos and reshape the College Football Playoff WRITINGILLINI.COM Seven games into the season, and the Illinois football team is in the hunt for the prestigious College Football Playoff. Those are words that I didn’t think I w Caption: Brother, I tried Weight Watchers and so should you. 😁
  9. Georgia. On the road against the No. 1 team, last Saturday. 7 sacks against what was reputed to be an awesome O-line. Texas D had not played any team better than a team with the 71st-ranked O. And the big wins against Michigan and Oklahoma, were not that big. SEE: Missouri at A+M. See Ole Miss vs. Kentucky. See teams overated because they have played vs. Thin Air. The TX D played well in Austin. UGA QB Beck struggled away from Athens, as he has all season. His 2023 No. 1 TE and No. 1 WR are now in the NFL. But the Georgia D was solid in shutting down the Longhorns O, 7 sacks (!) and the TX D was on the field too lon,g wore down, and the Dawgs' run game ascended. Tremendous victory by Georgia. It's OBD this week at Numero Uno.😍 4-0 through the 1st half of an 8 team gauntlet no other P4 team has to run. The first Committee rankings will be released on 11/5. Until then, it's all guess work just like it is Grapevine, Texas. It's all subjective which assures that CFB fanatics will be PO'd on 11/5 and on 12/8 when the PO field is seeded. The always squirrley Ducks Wire today posted a projected playoff field that included 2 ACC teams, 2 B12 teams, Notre Dame, and Boise State. If we see this, the Power 2 will insist on changes being made in the PO format in 2026/27. Look at Clemson and Miami's schedules and the B12 schedules. Where's The Beef? In the meantime, in between time, ain't Puddles got fun? You know it! IMMOLATE THE ILLINI!
  10. Indiana backup QB, Tayven Jackson is a "Pretty Good Athlete." After starting QB Kurtis Rourke left the Nebraska game with an injury Jackson went 7 for 8 passing for 91 yards with 2 TDs. Jackson transferred to Indiana from Tennessee in 2023 BC, Before Cignetti. In 2021, Jackson led his football team, 4A (the top tier in Indiana High School sports) Cedar Creek High School, Greenwood, Indiana, (a suburb 15 miles south of Indianapolis) to back-to-back state championships. He was named to the Indiana All-State 1st team. In 2021, the 6'4" 212 lbs. Jackson helped his Cedar Creek basketball team win the Indiana 4A basketball state championship. Holy Hoosiers, this is a Huge Deal in Indiana. Jackson's Brother, Trace Jackson-Davis, is a forward on the Hoosiers basketball team and was All-Big Ten in 2023/24. Closer to Puddles Nest, the brothers' Dad, Ray Jackson, played cornerback for Wazzu. Indiana and Army are the only two playoff-contending teams not to trail in a game all season. Like Cal this season, Indiana football and Bloomington will host College GameDay on Saturday for the first time. Despite Rourke missing the game, my LV friends and I have a wager down on the Hoosiers -6.5 vs. UWho. Iowa trucked U Dub and Indiana is a far better team than the Frustrated Fisches.😁
  11. Like Kirby, Cig is a branch of the Saint Nick coaching tree. He was Saban's recruiting coordinator and took a 60% pay cut when he became the head coach at NAIA Indiana University—Purdue, IUP. The man has never had a losing season. Twice when picked to finish next to last in a conference, as was the case this season, his team won the conference title.
  12. OBD is also No. 1 in ESPN's Strength of Record Rankings. The Committee should pay attention to this ranking. Another Top-25 win on Saturday (Knock Wood!) will help the cause. Puddles, Make the Illini Ill!
  13. Too High? Too Low? On 11/5 We'll Know. 😁 Spot on. Miami too high. Indiana too low. Indiana and Army are the two playoff-eligible teams that have not been behind the entire season. AP Top 25: 3 teams ranked way too high, 3 teams ranked way too low entering Week 9 FANSIDED.COM The Associated Press has spoken! As expected, we did see some changes to the AP Top 25 Poll after the Week 8 slate of games. With previous No. 1 Texas going dow
  14. KUSC - Here in South Central The HIts Just Keep On Comin.' USC football collapses while Oregon is tops in US LBM Coaches Poll TROJANSWIRE.USATODAY.COM This is what football misery looks like at USC: Not only are the Trojans 3-4 and in bad shape, but Dan Lanning and Oregon are No. 1. It’s a worst-case scenario. Doctor! We're suffering from Puddles Paranoia. HELP! I wonder what the Grinch Who Stole Defense thinks about the SC stink?
  15. A very good win but bad tackling led to the Boilers running for over 200 yards. Bret Bielma is well aware of this but so is Danno.
  16. Also Ranked No. 1 in ESPN's Strength of Record Rankings. 😍
  17. ADs vs Agents, it's not a fair fight. How's that pay raise and extension for Venables from you're not OK 's Oklahoma AD working out? BRILLIANT!
  18. Ditto - OBD No. 1 in the AP Poll. 😍 Texas, blown out at home and drops 4 spots. Boise State DNP and drops 2 spots. Indiana blew up a 1-loss team and moves up 3 spots. SIGH. SEC - One half of the conference is ranked with 0 undefeated teams. UGA 2nd is righteous. B1G - Five ranked. 3 teams are undefeated, 1. OREGON, 3. Penn State, 4 Ohio State, 13 (😒) Indiana, and 20 Illinois, a one-loss team that defeated a ranked Michigan team on Saturday. Wins Just Mean More and Losses Just Mean Less in the SEC.
  19. More 'Home Town' Love For Stinkin' Lincoln. 😁 Lincoln Riley’s math on 4th down was right, but his heart was wrong TROJANSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Lincoln Riley’s decision to kick a field goal on 4th and 1 was not his worst decision ever, but it was still bad for reasons which do need to be explained.
  20. What might the ratings be for a Ducks vs Domers PO? Boise at Ohio State. Which team would have more rushing yards?
  21. Nuck! Nuck! Nuck! 🤣 'You call THIS a Report Card!' USC football report card for Maryland shows too much average play TROJANSWIRE.USATODAY.COM If you have been reading our USC football report card after every game this season, the Maryland report card is going to be very familiar. This is depressing.
  22. Two of the ESPN AL's (algorithms) SP+ and FPI, show little respect for OBD. But Austin Mock's Playoff Mock AL, updated on 10/20/24, has Puddles flying sky-high. Some AL's are smarter than others. 😁👍👌 Here is Austin's (lots of football fans in Austin, TX are not happy today😒) Week 9 (Week 9 already!) Playoff field. Rose Bowl - No. 1 OREGON vs. 9 Clemson at 8 Notre Dame Fiesta Bowl - No. 4 Iowa State vs. 12 Boise State at 5 Ohio State Peach Bowl - No. 2 Miami vs. 10 Indiana at 7 Texas Sugar Bowl - No. 3 Georgia vs. 11 Tennessee at 6 Penn State Four B1G - No. 1 OREGON, No. 4 Ohio State, No. 6 Penn State, and 10 Indiana. Show Puddles The $$$! Impliedly - Ohio State defeats Penn State and Indiana. Oregon rematches with the Buckeyes in the B1G champ game and wins again. 😍 Three SEC - No. 3 Georgia, No. 7 Texas, and No. 11 Tennessee. Impliedly - Georgia rematches with Texas in the SEC champ game and wins again. And with three teams in the mix, Greg Sankey is not a happy PO camper. Two ACC - No. 2 Miami and No. 9 Clemson. Impliedly - Miami and Clemson play in the ACC champ game. Miami wins which would be the Canes only Top 25 win of the season. 😒 Greg Sankey doubles down as an unhappy camper with two ACC teams with weak conference schedules in the field. One B12 Iowa State. One Independent Notre Dame. One Group of 5. Impliedley - Iowa State (now 7-0 for the first time ever!) wins the B12 champ game. Notre Dame defeats both ranked Army and Navy after defeating a Georgia Tech team without its starting QB and takes a nap on Conference Champ Game weekend. Mountain West champ Boise State finishes 12-1 and plays the Buckeyes in Columbus. Still a long way to go. Here's to Wishing ILL on the Illini.
  23. How B1G of a deal was the Horns win in Ann Arbor? South Carolina embarrassed Oklahoma in Norman. However, Hats Off to You Hairy Dawgs! Michigan played offense like it was 1924. Fielding Yost would have been proud. A geeked group of Illini are coming to Autzen. Who needs the Beach? The Bruins visited a Superfund site and found a win. "I'm going to visit China, India, and Baltimore." SC visited Baltimore and caught crabs. 😁 Not a Mary trip. Hawkeye was off-target in Spartyville. So much for that easy schedule. Holy 1967! "I win, Google me.' Is that a puckering sound coming from Columbus? Who knew, besides Cig and John Pont, that the Hooisers would be conference and playoff contenders? Nebraska was shucked. Next up, at 😁hio State. Denied permission to land in Lincoln, the Huskers are practicing this week in Hell, Michigan. A real town. Google it. The Badgers said, 'No Western'" The jury is still out regarding the Wisky O. Prove It Saturday when Penn State comes to Mad City. Coming from Tuscaloosa. 'DeBoer, HUH! What is he good for? Absolutely nothin!' One thing the Playoff folks get right. No rankings are released before November. Sending Jabba the Hut, er, Bret Bielema ILL tidings. We're Number One. WOW!
