  1. This is so funny! The Beavers higher than the Ducks?!? They aren't even more popular within their own state! This says a lot about the accuracy of this poll. If it was basketball, maybe. But football, no way! The only caveat might be that Oregon fans are not as over the top "fanatical" as say, SEC fans. But Duke? Rutgers? Cal?!! LMAO.
  2. Great observation. Thanks for posting. It is a great juxtaposition to the article about coach Sanders dismissing a player in front of the whole team, or "family" as he called it. How to strengthen the idea of family...
  3. I don't know what the jersey colors represented, but they pretty much voted together. That suggests to me they all knew who the player in question probably was, and so his "color" mostly supported him. It seemed to me to be a pretty close vote. Notice coach kept using the word "family". He was clearly trying to make his point, and sometimes tough decisions should be discussed as a family. Finally, using this format made it clear the decision was not personal. Everyone was in on it, making it easier for all to move forward from. Lastly, I'm an old "white" boomer. I had a 2 parent family. I bet many of these boys did not. Tough love is learned best in family. It's hard for me to get a culture I wasn't raised in, but I'm guessing Dion knows better than I. Seeing someone learn the hard way is never easy. But chances are you'll never forget it.
  4. I think the deal about streaming is that it seems to be the direction of the not-so-distant future. And with Disney claiming espn "will" one day (sooner than later) be all streaming, clearly TV viewing will change for sport fans. Here at OBD we are all wanting to be optimistic about new media deal, thus the positive reaction to streaming. If we could get a sec type deal, we'd love it. But we can't and won't. Visionary leadership is required here. That means "outside the box" thinking which is new and possibly disconcerting to all us "boomers". I currently don't stream except Prime. But I'm willing to adjust if it helps get more $$ for the Pac. And as Charles has pointed out, Oregon would greatly benefit nationally and internationally from better streaming availability. Remember too, no one expects the new deal to be all streaming or even half. The primary will be linear TV as they say. That is the expectation. The streaming part is what will give added $$ to make the deal more than BIG12. (At least as far as I've read) Think about the possibilities of a streaming platform using the production ability of our Pac12 network. Viewership would sky rocket as now every state could sign up. And the P-12 network could actually be profitable. And finally, the USuC game is mocked becuz being on mainstream could pull a potential larger audience, and becuz, well it's USuC. Great questions to ask btw. Thanks.
  5. I don't see how the Pac "brand" has suffered. USC, UO are leading the recruiting, but Stanford has its best class in years! CU sold out its spring game. 6 teams ended '22 ranked in top 25. 4 - 6 QB'S are getting preseason hype. 5 (or is it 6) teams are ranked preseason. I mean, the only bad press is coming from B1G, ESPN, and B12 haters. They want to see the Pac's demise. I see this " the room has shifted" quote as being a big hint on a media deal we will all be excited about. It may even make the Pac12 network profitable. I like JC (now that he's on his own) but he just sound frustrated (as we all are) in the waiting game. I mean, we want to know now! Hang in there Duck fan faithful. Fishduck has it correct. Wherever the chips fall, our Ducks will make out great. I for one think this deal might be good enough to entice UCLA back. Besides travel costs and student travel burn-out, the political scene could be tougher, for eg. Nebraska is now a banned travel state for state employees, and several other issues. We shall see and be glad.
  6. Gotta say Steph is a good sport about this. Love the interaction. Though he should feel pretty good as he got a hole-in-one in last week's charity golf tourney.
  7. How does USuC get so many on defense? I thought their D was considered worse than just "suspect"!
  8. "No team has gone 9-0 in Pac since CU and UT joined up". That's big. I know Bo was banged up in the OSU game, but we have to give coaches some credit for that loss. Remember, down by 21 at half, and they don't throw a single pass in the 2nd half, and win! And we stayed in cover 2. What I'm suggesting is that there is a learning curve when you are a new head coach. Knowing when to change up the game plan for example. The Pac is solid and strong this year in the top half, and might I suggest that CU may not be the easy push over we think. Can 51 new players and coaches gel? What type of defense or offense will they run? As much as we hate Taggert, he runs a pretty good offense. All in all, there will be upsets, almost guaranteed. I'm hoping for 10-2, but I'll take 9-3 and be happy if it means we beat both dawgs and beavs!
  9. Boy was she hot in that competition! Truly amazing. Only missed like twice! Superb Sabrina!
  10. Rest in peace, Spencer. It's a good reminder to tell the ones we love, that we do. His life is such a great example of not letting your short comings in life hold you back. May his memory live on.
  11. HDuck has it right. Rushing at AZ is like JustinH at Oregon. Duh! Also, the AZ NIL consortium came up big for this guy. And Oregon nil will not get into bidding wars. So we move on to the next kid. Go Ducks!
  12. Wow. A way to measure the intangibles. Who'd have thunk it.
  13. Yes it's pile on the Pac!! And no, most sports writers east of the Rockies don't think before they write! My only thought on OOC games is its hard to take bowl game results to serious when every team has so many opt outs.
  14. He certainly looks like one of those great gets that go way beyond what he does on the field. Thanks for posting.
  15. That was such an incredible play. I came right out of my Lazy boy! And, the base ump made a great call! That play could not have been any closer. I was very impressed at the call. Now, just one more baby, just one more!
  16. That was an enjoyable read. Thanks for sharing. It looks like DL & Co. added speed on the back end and size on the D line. I'm excited now to see these guys in green and yellow. Go Ducks!
  17. I like that. Does this mean we can expect a H&H with Northwestern? lol
  18. I don't see UA or CAL being the threat for a loss as much as UO is. Autzen Is much tougher place to play than Berkley. We have struggled for years getting good schools to commit, and then they back out like UTAM and others. I think we should schedule like 'Bama. All easy wins. Then running the table in the Pac will put us in playoff. Especially at 12+ teams. The games at the end of the season will be the tough ones.
  19. Mullens suggesting a move to 10 conference games is telling. I don't think we as fans really get how difficult it is to get other teams to travel to Eugene. That's why the 3 SEC games were 1 offs. Not home and home. Everybody is watching their budget, also the concerns about appearing "green" are valid concerns for some schools. Distances from competition is real out here in the west. There are way more schools in the east within driving distance. Personally, unless we get a home and home series, I say don't play blue bloods ooc. We are now a good enough program, we don't have to prove anything. I'll take all div 2 schools if it gets us undefeated for a couple years. With expanded playoffs, there will be enough good teams to play. In a few years, we can schedule either LA school as an OOC game.
