  1. Plus, there are a lot of great choices for defense front guys in this years draft. Good for all 3 to stay and improve. Was not MU best year.
  2. Yes, mistakes will be a big part of this game. If we keep the ball, not turn it over, we in good shape. Evenly matched teams means the one with fewer mistakes wins. Let's hope it's Oregon.
  3. I personally hope Dante comes back. He is still young at reading the defense, and needs to gain more confidence in remaining in the pocket. The League is a major step up and adjustment. Guys need a minimum of snaps before moving up. I don't think DM is there yet. I know it seems like a no-brainer to go 1st or 2nd qb in the draft, but you want the best chance of success. Those early draft picks go to lousy teams. I hope for his sake (and ours!) he waits 1 more year. Remember, both Justin Herbert and Bo Nix had some negative talk to overcome which allowed them to go to teams better suited for them. Marcus didn't have such good fortune.
  4. I think Oregon and Indiana are the best teams left. But the games are won on the field, not in on-line discussion groups. I have a difficult time believing we can win this thing, all the previous comments state how we can. I sure want to believe so. I'm placing my hope on our coaching staff. We have showed real grit this year in winning tough games, by any means necessary. Travel, early start, late start, inclement weather, questionable refs, we've been through it all and found a way to win. Our guys are battle tested. This should be best game of the playoffs. I hope it's our best game of the year so far. I'm still betting on my Ducks. This is the year of the Duck!
  5. Great comparison, Alabama is Illinois!
  6. No offense, but Saban as CFB boss is a no go for me. Too much SEC bias already, don't need his 2 cents. Your ideas of needed changes are good though. A shrewd lawyer type, like maybe our own JJ from S. Carolina would be a good choice.
  7. Could it be Miami and Oregon in the CFB final?!?
  8. From here on our, the games come down to who wants it more. And I believe the Ducks team love holds that advantage. I also believe Tosh & Will want to win as bad as DL. They want to go out as champions. I agree with Mike's points. We beat their secondary. Also, our D-line is very, very good. And deep. Their QB will be pressured. Their run game will be slowed. As good as their O-line and D-line are, they haven't played a team as strong as Oregon. They will wear down. The time off always affects timing. Tackling the Ducks team speed will take a bit to readjust to. I expect Kenyon and Jamari to have a big day. Jmac, Benson, and the return of speed-demon Dakorian and sure hands Bryant will give that secondary fits. And our stable of backs will run and run and run. Can't wait!
  9. Has Chip had any real success since leaving Oregon? Other than the Rose bowl beatdown tOSU gave us? He may need to coach, but is he any good any more? For the record, I recognize that Chip at Oregon changed college football worldwide. The 'mesh', spread, tempo, run first all teams do it now. But in a world of "what have you done for me lately", what has he done. I used to think he was a QB whisperer. Now,? Best of luck CK. Don't take it personally when we clobber NW!
  10. Ducks 38 - 30 1 - t/o 3 - saks 231 - yds pass
  11. I guess he's planning on NIL doing the recruiting for him. While I appreciate all he did when at Oregon, I wonder if he should be getting all that credit? How much was Bellotti? Or Helfrich? Was he a one-hit-wonder or just a flash-in-the-pan?
  12. It appears UK starts 1/12.
  13. I'm guessing the reason for announcing before playoffs completed is so he has time to register at new school for start of winter term. UO starts 1/5. Novosad needs to be offered by someone, accept, get registered, and move. Makes sense to announce now
  14. Let's just hope that coach Lanning is able to change up the L vibe with this particular uni combo so that in the future we don't collectively react with " oh no" 😳🤦
  15. My wish for all you OBD buddies, a day of knowing you have family that loves you and Duck buddies who will support you and have your back. May the Reason for the season make Himself known to you. And may all our hopes and dreams for the New Year come true!
  16. Any info on the health of #11 JMac?
  17. Freudian slip? Or just saying out loud what we here at OBD think! Either way, it's a very funny gaffe. I'm curious to see which of these 8 schools can compete with the likes of Tulane, or mighty JMU.
  18. Yeah, I've seen these posts. Pretty hilarious and original. May be the only team to wear purple I could ever cheer for
  19. This is just another example of how messed up CFB has become. The Bowls were the one time a player could get free stuff. Now, who needs another set of 'beats' headsets?! They can all afford to buy their own! I agree that the Bowl system needs revitalizing, but what part of CFB doesn't! I personally think this is a bad look on coach Freeman and entire ND organization. They could have shown up and trounced BYU and made a legitimate claim of being cheated from playoffs. Now they look like poor losers. I mean, after all, they did lose head-to-head with Miami. Both teams 10-2. Makes sense to me. I can't imagine coach Lanning ever allowing something like this. One last thought about ISU and KSU skipping Bowl games: they have different circumstances. Both lost coaches, both are likely to lose players to the portal. Is it in anyone's best interest to play a game repping your school with less then a normal full roster? And, the Poptart bowl isn't a bad gig. Better then a lot of others. Just sayin.
  20. Once again I am surprised at what we value as fans. Brock came in with no fanfare from pundits. Not many stars after his name. Only offered by Montana St and Portland St. (Maybe a couple others) and our head coach, whom we all trust, says he won OUTRIGHT the qb2 backup spot in practice. And we all doubt it?I thought it was "in Lanning we trust". We trust scouting by writers over what our coach sees?! Btw, Justin Herbert was also an under the radar player, as was Marcus Mariota. They ended up being pretty good. I don't mean to be rude, but I trust DL and WS more than writers or pundits. Will Dante go pro? Will any QB transfer? Will we pick up a QB from the portal? Inquiring minds want to know. These and other questions need to be answered while we are playing for a National championship! CFB is now in the twilight zone. Right now I've got James Madison on my mind. And if our coaches are happy with BT as QB2, I'm jiggy with it.
  21. Yep, I think we get Tulane. Ol Miss gets 'bama. ACC gets stiffed again. No entries into playoff. Though, can someone explain to me how ND, with same record as Miami (10-2) gets in but the team they lost to! does not?! If head to head doesn't count, why play the games in a playoff?!!
  22. I love getting atheletic players. More than 1 sport, or position. I believe multi sports aid in overall total development. Another great Lanning class! Gee, an old OBD guy like me could sure get spoiled. Just sayin.
  23. Just in time for Christmas, we sign Messiah, Immanuel, and a Prince. Also 'Tank' and a Beaver. Awesome.
  24. One of the problems of a committee, is that it is a committee. I've heard it said God didn't make the Platypus. He left it to a committee. 😉
