  1. Perhaps all these "minor" details sheds some light on why the Pac12 media deal is taking so long. I hope that means George is making sure it's all worked out correctly.
  2. IIs Bo worth the 1.5M? An analogy: Many years ago my son worked at a little kiosk in the mall selling sports memorabilia and mostly sport cards. He was often asked, "how much is that Jordan rookie card really worth?" Or some such similar question. His answer, "how much are you willing to pay?" Bo is worth exactly what the NIL collective is willing to pay. And for us to have any real legitimate chance of a stellar season, we need Bo Nix. Like the rest of y'all greybeards, I'm sad to see college sports come to this pay for play...but if we want to compete, I guess we need to get on board. All abooaarrrd! Let's go Ducks!
  3. It can take time to develop relationships with players, but also with local coaches. I'm guessing Deboer & Co. have work to make up for from previous poor UW recruiting efforts. It is fun to see all the excuses they come up with. But really, coach Lanning is genuine, players and parents see that, and he has hired great recruiting coaches. And ones that develop talent. I think all the support that Oregon has from the school, community, the facilities, the NIL support, puts us way ahead of Udub. For all their rhetoric, they are behind putting money where their yappy mouths are!
  4. Well, the Beavs schedule sets up pretty nice for them. They have a good chance to start 3-0, and they get Utah, UW and UCLA at home. At WSU and at UO are toughest games. Their 1st conference game and their last. Winning the Pac-12 this year won't be easy. May come down to team with fewest injuries.
  5. Neon Dion must realize he stands a better chance of winning against the likes of Nebraska et Co. then he does against the Pac12. Sounds like a panic move to me.
  6. If we analyze Bo's throws, he too looked pretty inept most of the day. Many throws too long, wounded ducks, or low and away. Spring games, with teams divided for equality, are pretty difficult to get a true feel for. Add in a new offense, I'm not going to give up on TT just yet. IMO, he needs game time action to build his confidence. I also recall there was much lamenting about Bo preseason last year, so I'm gonna wait and see with TT.
  7. Echos of Patrick Chung here! All the best Christian! I bet you will be first all-star from this year's db class. Those cold winters in Colorado will help you for New England. And your first round choice will help coach Meat get better recruits. Go work hard, and show your stuff.
  8. I understand he is a rising star, thus his status should improve by signing day. Also, coach Stein is supposed to be a great qb developer.
  9. I hope he does. Once he has stacked 3 or 4 recruiting classes, you might expect him to already have his guys. Then he can grab one or two as needed. (See AL taking a qb this year)
  10. Colarado and "Neon" Dion are showing the college football world what the transfer portal is all about. He has kicked off half the players from last years roster, and not worried about tact in the process. As bad as this looks, our Ducks are 2nd in losing the most players! We all know also, that half of kids in portal won't land anywhere. Is this really the way of the future? Is winning at any cost, making the playoff, really the end- all, be-all? I guess if we're gonna pay the kids to play, they need to produce. But what of coaching? Helping a kid develop? I would love to hear from our great OBD faithful. What are your thoughts about these huge turnovers? I'm not even trying to learn our roster until Sept, too much change.
  11. I love beating UW at anything, but, they beat us in the regular season. Spring "games" are a practice. I also love Lanning, but we lost last year to the two teams I HATE to lose to. So, while it's fun to laugh at their measly attendance, we gotta win when and where it matters, on the field! (It must be embarrassing for them though)
  12. Down to 84. Avante Dickerson, reserve DB is gone. We now have room for a TE, or maybe that WR from USuC.
  13. Frankly, I think the issue is Oregon is too dominant. Good teams are too smart to risk an OOC loss, and coming to Autzen is a big risk. Playing WSU, AZ, UCLA, even Utah, is not at all the same risk level. And if you go back to when these games were scheduled, none of these Pac12 teams were scaring anyone away. JJ, those "one-off" games are not as preferable as H&H, but they bring lots of eyes early in the season and pay handsome for it. This year's game with TT has the added bonus of pitting former Duck Tyler Shough against Bo Nix. Should be a fun added bonus. By the time we play OSU, they may be the best team in the Big12. And seeing as we just snatched Baylor's QB commit from last year, that adds a little extra to that game. I agree that strength of schedule should count, but we all know it doesn't ever seem to matter enough. It's all about W's and no L's. I'll take the current scheduling for now, until we at least make the playoffs a couple times.
  14. One last thought, Deion brings a lot of bling with him. Don't blame a kid for being curious about Colorado. Heck, I'm curious if he's the real deal.
  15. I concur with Lono. Kids are checking places out to have secondary landing spots ready. Also, NIL is part if the issue here as well. After a year or two, they may get an offer to go elsewhere. That's what happened to OSU's best LB, got $$ and went to LSU. Finally, I think curiosity and pride are issues too. Wanting to be wanted (and catered to) and wondering about what other programs have. In the end, you don't want to waste a schollie on a kid who doesn't want to be here.
  16. Great. Let's put on black and orange and go misbehave in Corvallis. I can see this being a weekly fraternity prank, get the other coach suspended. Oye vay.
  17. Hiring a former B1G member as the new pres certainly increases the odds. He won't have any deep feelings of loyalty to the Pac12 anyway. With all the changes going on in college football, I'm sure there are bigger ones coming. I'm just planning to cheer on my Ducks for as long as they remain "our Ducks".
  18. It's my understanding that not all schollies offered are necessarily for all 4/5 years. I seem to recall reading that Alabama can and does pull schollies from underperforming players. Oregon offers more 4 years than most, I think, but is this a reality too? If you don't play, you should have to pay. IMO.
  19. FishDuck is right, with that O-line and all those 2☆, coach Stein was nothing but miraculous! I believe coach Lanning has found a diamond in the rough. We may miss coach Klemm, but DL has brought in another great young coach to replace him. I think perhaps the best part is the hire of Mike Cavanaugh to be assistant O-line coach. He has years of experience that can help with all the youth and inexperience on staff. I fully believe our offense will be fun to watch. I expect Bo will help young Mr. Stein once again look brilliant. Let's Go Ducks!
  20. You may be right, but all these guys are great at this level now. Wins will be decided by which ever team has the ball last.
  21. Realistically, 8 - 4. Possibly 10 - 2. With the improved QB situation in the Pac, there should be a lot of shoot outs and I don't have the confidence in our defense showing enough improvement. It was a complete bafflement to me that we didn't leave our cover 2 against the Beavs in the 2nd half. Making in-game adjustments, or the lack there of, leaves me thinking we need another year of development, for players and coaches. I think our offense will stay hot and score bunches of points. With Bo returning, he will learn whatever tweaks the new OC brings and handle it brilliantly. We have depth and greatness at WR and RB, and enough talent at TE to be formidable. I just don't see the D keeping all the games close enough. If the D can get consistent qb pressure and the LB's can make the correct reads, then we make the 10 wins. I do think we beat UW and the Beavs this year, but lose to Utah and ? It's definitely going to be great football as most every team has improved from last year. And look at all the high profile QB's!! Probably will need to bet the "over" in every game.
  22. Good for Cam. He has given a lot to Oregon, I wish him only the best. He has 2 degrees and been here for like 7 years! It's time to move on. I just hope he stays healthy.
  23. Brotherly competition. Plus, he probably doesn't want to give Lincoln a free chance to scout players USuC might steal!
  24. As you may have heard, Lanning has said repeatedly he wants his boys to grow up in one place, not move around. Lannings ideal place is here, at Oregon. He will be ours as long as we want him. As for the tat, most of us old grey beards don't get it, but DL is only mid-30's, so he gets it. He and Sauphi are united and one. There will not be another. She is his everything, including his sex symbol. It's not my thing, but for him, I think it's cool.
  25. I forget the name, but a 2023 4☆ arhelete is making a visit next month. He is 6'5" but a speedster. He wants to run track so wants to be a TE so as not to put on too much more weight. He is 225 lb now. Can you picture the mismatch if he played some at the slot! Length and speed! But Hutson would be amazing too, and maybe Bo's brother. Sounds fun to watch. Thanks coach Boles.
