Hate to see talented Oregon kids leave the state. I would love to hear Lanning make that a goal. Cristobal went after this and it would nice to see it continued. If we want an Oregon kid he should be ours!

I guess social media is the way to get things done in this day and age. I'm just not from this day and age, I suppose. I would love to see DL reach out to alumni, coaches and players, and see who can be helpful. Said it before, Bellotti could be an invaluable asset to have on a new coach's side. A Will Takuafu would be another great alumni type hire at a low level. Some of the guys who were grinders, may have what it takes to make a difference. From Dan's background I would say waiting outside his office to talk to him would be a more productive method. Work harder than Dan does at finding you, and you might have a chance. Without Mario to follow around I am wondering what he will do? Isn't that what he did when Mario left? I definitely want to know how Moorhead will call the game, but who will Feld follow might be an equally compelling question. Strength and conditioning coach Aaron Feld will also remain with the Ducks for the Alamo Bowl.

I wonder how he will feel once he sees the product on the field? I have no doubt plenty of talent will feel the same way.

The 'Salad Days' of Oregon coaching. A time of great achievement, wonder, thriving and growth. It is also a time of green judgement. Should be exciting, and amazing contrast to our recent past. The wilting of our once proud offense can become green again, not a bad thing! These young guys just might redefine green judgement, aggressive, innovative and nutritious to the fans and players! Put me down as afire with anticipation. This seems in line with what the Oregon Football Program is all about.

Oregon still doesn't have any sources worth the pencils they write with. Hopefully somebody will get a relationship with Lanning, but I suppose it shows we are a national name, not just local news?

Great article and it was the chink in our armor too. From 20' away it all looked good. As one got closer the chinks looked worse and worse. Top recruiting was something we could hang our hat on. We were elite, and when it all lined up we could justify that mentality. Much like the run up the gut against the dawgs, it worked. All we had to do was focus on our recruiting rankings, right? The problem was a limited offense limits the output. In this day and age if you don't have an important element others have, you are at a disadvantage. An aggressive passing attack, and explosive plays are fundamental football, at the elite level. I will look for a downfield passing attack, and more discipline on penalties as my two elements to see if Lanning has changed the Oregon Football Program in a productive way. Wins and staying in games are just fluff. We need to have progress towards making teams sweat again on defense, not drool. We also need to see everyone on the same page, and nobody acting selfishly, or without discipline. That change, hopefully, began when Cristobal left, and Lanning landed. This is probably the single most important element Lanning can bring.

A non-profit status is the loophole many use to make bank. The fact that the word non profit makes many believe nobody really makes any money, not the case at all. This is why it is important to look into who you donate money too, especially this time of year. There isn't a problem with this non-profit paying it's employee's $50k, that is the way they want it, probably nothing illegal, but ugly none the less. I would love to hear from a tax accountant who is knowledgeable about this type of thing. I doubt Sark is too up on this. 'This will bring me the best O-lineman, sign me up!'

I doubt former players have any idea of how to work the system. That is what it is coming down to. Hopefully this will be coming to an end, but the end isn't in sight yet. Thibs did create some crypto currency scam, but the program needs accounting nerds if we are going to keep up. I think the whole division street idea is a very savvy marketing idea. What programs are doing to leverage the new NIL angle isn't marketing, and Oregon may have to get with it if it is going to keep up. They may need to hire some quants to really figure out how to get money into the hands of the elite recruits, they are beginning to expect it.

It is just capitalism, right. What did the capitalist in the NFL do, capped the pay of their employees because they knew they had no self control. In college football there is no self control amongst the ultra wealthy when it comes to coaches. Imagine what an owner would pay to have Brady, or Rogers on the open market? Owners would pay massively to have these guys if there was no salary cap. There are penalties to keep teams under the salary cap, under the guise they want to keep things competitive. The real reason is they have no restraint. The funny one is the NBA where they have the soft cap, to help keep players on the same team. They then name the violations a luxury tax. Maybe we should call the excessive coaches pay a luxury tax. The continual upping of the coaches salaries the soft cap? Wait until this whole phenomenon hits the NIL if the whole non-profit program scam is able to work. As long as you 'work' for the non-profit, they can pay you whatever money the non-profit has, they actually have to spend it, can't have profits. The wild, wild world of an unregulated college football.

Their women's programs have had plenty of success, what are they talking about? Maybe they should just drop their men's programs, problem solved. Like I tell my kids, if you are going to complain, you won't like my answer.

The main item is, can we keep up and compete? We already loss, directly, a top recruit to this sales pitch. Kelvin Banks went from Oregon to Texas where he will be an employee of a non-profit and make $50k a year while attending Texas. Agree this seems like the old car washing jobs athletes use to get from dealerships of big donors. The difference is a non-profit is just about perfectly set up for this abuse. Maybe a tax accountant can correct my understanding? College football is big business and the athletes are getting in on the business side. Oregon needs to stay on the cutting edge or we will continue to get cut off.

We had Mario, we now have Lanning, both great recruiters. The recruiting field has changed and is shifting greatly. Will Oregon keep up? We already lost our 5* offensive lineman to the deals available to Texas, $50k per year, not bad. Can Oregon keep up with the competition at this level? I hope we also hired an NIL expert, I don't care how young he is.
