Spreads a rumor, from 'multiple sources,' then asks his source, communication director, and it is denied. That is all I need to know about Clownzano on this one. He was just reaching the whole time and continues to. The best source, sadly, was from Georgia and probably still is.

Canzano: Place Your Bets on the New Pac-12 Coaches
Haywarduck replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I would rather have whoever ended up at Oregon! There are programs where coaches become better, and programs that eat coaches. I think it is about the program, more than the coach! We had to hire a quality coach whose character wasn't suspect. The rest is up to the support and culture of the program. At Oregon Lanning will have the support and culture set up to win. At sc Riley doesn't have as much support, as expectations, and the culture at sc is toxic. Watching repeated sc games where players are jumping up and down pointing at themselves while their teammate had to get up by themselves was pathetic. Riley is a fine coach, no doubt. I would rather have an excellent character coach at Oregon, and that is what we have. -
The Big Question: Who's Going to Make the Offense go at Oregon?
Haywarduck replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It is interesting to see the youth movement hitting Oregon squarely between the eyes. Maybe I am just getting older, but these guys look like they just graduated from college. As long as they can coach, recruit, manage athletes and our program, I am ok with it! -

The Big Question: Who's Going to Make the Offense go at Oregon?
Haywarduck replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
My take is Lanning will get a very good OC like Taggart got an extremely good and expensive DC to help him. Mario also got a very good OC, but, it seems, throttled him. I think it is important to remember what happened with Leavitt. He took a defense which was one of the worst in college football and turned it into one of the better in a short time. Our offense is loaded, and I mean loaded, and good coaching will pay huge dividends, more than Leavitt's did. I am not worried, but also understand it may take some time to really get it clicking. All I know is I was an OC I wouldn't be seeing what Leavitt saw. This offense is set up to go-go, and wouldn't that be the most exciting development of this whole thing! Charles might even get his 40+ points! I have a feeling this just might be one of Charles better gifts this year! -
What is interesting is Georgia is ready for the next steps. They have put in place assistants to ensure their defense will be well taken care of. They were notified about the hiring and support it completely. I am sure Oregon is in full support mode for Lanning. I look at it as Christmas time and the gifts are wrapped up, the shopping isn't done and they will be opened as we get close to the New Year. With Uncle Phil in charge of the gifts, I am sure we won't be disappointed! I think it is going to be a busy Oregon Football support system. We already surprised everyone with Mr. Lanning and I am sure there will be good stuff to come!

Despite Insider Chaos, Oregon Hires Georgia’s Dan Lanning
Haywarduck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
From what I see Lanning was approached through the proper channels. Georgia has nothing negative to say about the hire, contrast that to just about any other hire out there! I also think Mullens list and job was pretty transparent. He spoke to the necessary candidates, big boosters, while Lanning lit up the radar on the screen that mattered. Mullens job now is to put together a tight contract that rewards success and punishes anyone who wants to take Lanning away. I am sure that was agreed upon, and something Mario was supportive of too. I do agree with what Mario has said about the process on hiring coaches. It isn't ideal, but it is what has been set up to date. -
After a day it is also interesting to contrast how the Mario hire was done and received, while contrasting the Dan Lanning hire. Kirby Smart's statement says it all about how the Georgia's program feels about how the power brokers approached the Bulldogs. The Ducks did it the right way and got the right guy! https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/georgia-football/kirby-smart-issues-statement-on-dan-lanning-leaving-for-oregon-reveals-dcs-plans-for-playoff/

Out of respect to AB let him play on a qb run play. Out of respect to AB don't let him pass. The new era of passing should begin under one of the young guns. It may play out differently, but we need to get ready for next season, put the past behind us!

I have a feeling while Lanning is young, he knows a lot of coaches. The Oregon facilities and opportunity is well known in the CF world, exciting times ahead. It is going to be like Christmas with each announcement of coaches, recruits, transfers!

Who starts and how the game is called will be very telling. I wonder if Moorhead is coming back just to tell us through play calling just a little about what was going on.

Despite Insider Chaos, Oregon Hires Georgia’s Dan Lanning
Haywarduck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I think the confusion came from the news outlets source being Mullens and the Oregon AD. The real work was being done on behalf of PK and his power brokers, they don't talk. The news leaked out of Georgia as the real Oregon sources don't talk to Canzano or other reporters, burned too many times. I agree it was a brilliant hire. Many times the moves PK makes don't add up on the surface. Why would he sign Michael Jordon to such a crazy contract back in the day? Those who doubt the decision maker on this one will, again, find out they were wrong. I look forward to seeing the assistants he signs and the whole culture he sets up. I can guarantee you one thing, anything Lanning needs he will get. I am not talking about some pie in the sky stadium, but the things he needs to succeed will quietly happen. Lanning will succeed beyond our wildest expectations, just wait! -
What I wake up realizing is we are going to have a far better defense. Our defensive recruits have to be ecstatic. I wonder what recruits and transfers Lanning will bring in. I hope he brings one well over 300lbs to put under the Christmas tree for me! Way back when we signed Noah I thought we had a chance to become LBU, linebacker university. That dream seems to be coming closer to reality. I look forward to the end of the prevent offense and a dominating defense, Go Ducks! I also realize we have no idea what the offense will look like, but we have plenty of talent and time to figure that out.

I Believe the Whole CFB World has raised eyebrows.

I wonder what was happening to make this work. It sounded like Mullens was buy calling, talking to all the standard candidates. Somebody was busy getting Lanning on the line. I'm not sure it was Mullens. -
The ideal situation is you build as at the season goes. Losing early to a good team, away, won't do any damage. We then play EWU and then BYU which may be our downfall. The main thing about scheduling is we need an 8 game conference schedule like the SEC. Having a patsy at the end of the season helps them and our conference schedule doesn't help us. Get to work George!

A, looking to give him an A+ once we get the OC, DC and assistants. The big thing is integrity and coaching skill. The guy has both and that is all I wanted. He will get all the support he needs, and is the type of guy who will accept help. Glad we didn't hire a suspect coach, or somebody who has a checkered past. Like most coaches, we hope he does have people trying to pry him away. I imagine he answered some questions pretty well to get the nod. I trust Mullens makes him a pretty tight contract. I also trust the guy who ok'd him, pretty good track record.

The odds have been against every coach we have hired, well maybe not Mr. Casanova, but welcome to the club Mr. Lanning. As far as ideal, we don't do ideal, we make ideal.
-
I think Lanning is the exact guy you wanted the whole time. You wanted Chip to come back, but Lanning is just Chip the first time. Lanning is that hot innovative assistant, with no experience, taking over a program ready to roll. We have to look at who we got, not who we didn't get. We got a high character guy, the players will love, fans will love, and can coach. The only problem with this guy is I don't see the downside. There might even be an amazing early Christmas gift, our offense back! He is our Oregon Coach, it is time to get behind him, and stay there until there is something to be critical about, nothing yet!

Ducks Wire: "Who IS Dan Lanning?"
Haywarduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
We have hired repeated losing coaches and turned them into winners and very wealthy men. The most success we have had is hiring extremely successful coordinators. We have gone back to hiring what has worked the best, and this time an elite recruiter too! Who is Dan Lanning an extremely lucky guy, as are the Ducks! -
What Would Lanning Bring, What Would We Expect?

Love seeing this program take a gamble again. We aren't settling for coaches, this is a gamble and I love it! Oregon is about taking gambles, with enthusiasm and gratefulness. This guy epitomizes this mentality, Go Ducks
