  1. Great stuff, what do you see as compared to Dilly after two games? The three attempts up the gut on Saturday reminded me of MarØ, but Stein seems to have some magic up his sleeve too. Excellent analysis on this RPO, thanks for all you do!
  2. I suppose that would be possible, Ellison bought Lanai for $300 million, and it has a pretty nice golf course. It does seem like Ellison got a pretty good deal, Oregon, not so much with the 1.7M we are giving Tosh. Time will tell, he has all the tools and the expectations should be pretty high.
  3. First we are suppose to be Phil Knight, well ok, then Jon wants an Island in the Gaughan Territory? I have played the what if I win the lottery game a few times so this exercise is kind of fun. I have also travelled a lot, but the Gaughan Territory, what? I am curious if I should put this on my travel list and how?
  4. Not talking about lashing out when things are tough. It would be good to see a player in the face of a teammate telling him that isn't acceptable when a bonehead play happens. Maybe even a slap on the butt, and your better than that. Set the expectation each player executes and shows discipline. Football isn't just a bunch of kumbaya moments. I get it Lanning goes over game film, scores the play of each player and works with each student athlete. I just want to see an elevated intensity of execution needed to be dominant on the road. I think it is the next level of trust one has throughout a game. You trust everyone is going to give it there all, and the respect one has is built, not fixed. It is definitely tough to define and pick out one thing which needs to grow or be fixed. This is just one little observation, and, admittedly, some simple conclusions I have drawn.
  5. I was struck by this part of your analysis. I do think Lanning and the rest of the coaches focus on trust and the players like them and each other. This is important and a worthy goal. What seems to be lacking is the respect, discipline for the coaches. There is a difference and this is an important component to a successful team. Penalties are the biggest indicator that respect is lacking. Without the admiration of a coach and not wanting to let them down you make stupid mistakes. Respect is earned, but it is also demanded, and that may not be happening enough with the coaches. There was some great analysis of the Georgia program and the derecruiting of the players. Once a player hit campus players had to earn the respect of the coaches. The way the players were playing it seems this may not have happened to the extent needed to reach the heights many have projected. If the team of players is going to become what they can become the trust has to grow into strong respect for the coaches and the other players. The true edge is when each players has earned the respect of each other and the coaches. I look forward to that metric happening soon, because I didn't notice it enough Saturday.
  6. Agree there is only one guy who is questioning what he did, and that isn't Bassa, or Dorlus. I hope that guy has a great end to his career from here on out!
  7. Talent doesn't make a team, adversity helps make a team. These guys are still learning how to put talent together into what it can become. I am still excited to see what the coaches can create with the talent level they have to work with. Today we saw some character, and maybe Dorlus can lead the defense to a higher standard. Not sure what to do about the O-line, film room and soul searching?
  8. I think a lot of this will be put on the fact it was a road game. Next year this will be a short road trip. The Ducks need to clean up their play, and tighten up execution.
  9. Our defense is weak, and MariØ's team outscored us. We have some work to do! One thing is road games will make a team look like ours did today. Problem is you have to win the road games. The Ducks showed resilience, we have that going for us!
  10. Dorlus is the real deal, game ball!
  11. Alright Tosh, get you men to stop TT one more time!
  12. Can Nix fix this mess? We need 7 this time!
  13. Defenses turn now, earn you money Tosh. Another 3 or 4 and out!
  14. 4th down Shough on his back, Ill take it, well done. Now the offense answer with 7!
  15. Take what they give you on defense, and take away what they are doing on offense. We need to put Shough on his back next time out.
  16. Wow, Nebraska needs a qb, feel for the guy, but this is big boy football. Not sure how you stay with this kid under center. 6 turnovers in 6 quarters, pathetic. Do they have a backup qb? Nebraska defense is showing the Buffs offense isn't all that great.
  17. Pathetic, beat the opponent on the field. Pretty nice set up for a small high school team. I suppose it will help the Ducks appreciate the Autzen experience.
  18. Agree the drive and mistakes in the PSU game, not the end of the world, and maybe 'no problem.' The defensive melt-down against OSU, WAS SACRILEGE!
  19. Good stuff so far, love how we can agree to disagree. Charles makes some great points, but there is still question marks we need answered. I will say Tosh is an extremely effective recruiter. Recruiting is a very important element in building a team. I just hope that skill isn't blinding Lanning from seeing a weaknesses in other areas. Time will tell, and I fully admit, from Mel Brooks famous song, I 'hope for the best, expect the worse' when it some to Tosh.
  20. Good stuff, but the dawgs played them last year, and had 4 sacks. Same qb, and just about the same number of passing plays. Like I said the stat is cause for concern. It is one data point, but I am not going to say it doesn't make me want to watch the line going forward. I will admit I love DL, but don't have to love all his hires. Maybe I am a little too tough on how I review the defensive play, full disclosure.
  21. Interesting how in football and many sports there is a constant evolution on how things are done to create a competitive advantage. In basketball there really isn't much other than elite athletes getting bigger, and jumping higher. Take the free throw, they could shoot a higher percentage if the poor shooters shot under handed, but that will never happen. Now in Korea players are shooting bank shots on their free throws and increasing their percentage, but I doubt the NBA players will adopt this technique. As long as there is innovation a game will keep me curious and interested. If the game evolves like the NBA, not so much. There will always be the player I want to see once, maybe twice, but the interest fades quickly.
  22. Feeling like a heel, but my sole just doesn't like it. Your fault John!
  23. Great observation, and something to watch in the future. I will say it is amazing to get in the game and get experience. It is a whole different ball game when you come in as a starter. Some interesting training going on with how Lanning is doling out experience, I suppose? Maybe TT starts against TT? If you want to get your back-up ready, is this the best step?
  24. Let keep this under wraps, smells a little fowl!
  25. Not concerned, don't want to be a program focused on preseason rankings. We are a program that earns, builds it's ranking, and puts fear into other teams. It is nice to be that Oregon Football Program again!
