  1. I think the injuries I was most concerned about with the former coaching staff were all the significant injuries that happened during practice - taking guys out for weeks at a time because "we have to be tougher and more physical...".
  2. Maybe we should count eyeballs instead of viewers... LOL!!
  3. I happened to catch parts of the 3rd & 4th quarters of the Miami/NC game last weekend. As I was observing Miami's offense, it was like deja vu all over again, except the colors were different. They would get up to the line of scrimmage, get set early in the play clock, and then they would all start looking around like they didn't know what they were doing. The one play in particular that I recall was in the 4th quarter, Miami was down by 7 pts, and the clock was ticking. Instead of snapping their set play with 25 seconds on the play clock, they were all looking to the sideline to see what Mari-no-O was going to change the play to. Finally, after ticking the play clock down to about 4 seconds, they got reset and snapped for a play that turned out to be embarrassing. It was not the play above, but pretty similar. The lost look of the offense, the uncertainty, and finally the incompetence was so familiar that I got a little sick feeling in my stomach remembering so much of the same look with OBD when Mari-no-O was coaching Oregon. Ticking later into the 4th quarter, down by at least a score, there was no urgency, no feeling of confidence displayed, the whole team - coaches included - were just mailing it in. Oh yeah, and then it was 4th and 2 (?) and Mari-no-O took a time out because he couldn't decide if he wanted to go for it or kick. Good grief Charlie Brown... I have debated with myself all week about even posting these thoughts. It's not my intention to just bash away at Mari-no-O, but I can't help but feel that we were delivered from the eye of the hurricane in the nick of time, and are so blessed to have received Coach Lanning and staff! I am super excited for the rest of our season, starting with UCLA next weekend! Win, lose or draw, our situation has improved by at least 150%, and I can't wait to see the improvement each week as Coach Lanning and staff continue striving for OBD to be the best! Go Ducks!!
  4. If you take another look at the article, I believe those are Canzano's thoughts / words in commenting on what Kevin Warren had said above. YMMV
  5. Good morning Charles, it's great to see your analysis! I appreciate your insight as the way you break down and explain plays helps me enjoy watching my Ducks even more! Go Ducks!!
  6. I would take it further. I think they should not only lose their scholarship, but they should be booted from the team, and excluded from any team benefits such as weight room and training facilities. In my view, sitting is quitting, and quitters should not only get the boot, but they should also ultimately lose that redshirt year they are trying to salvage.
  7. I'm with you. I find myself looking for this headline as well. Something I just realized is that if a couple people a day post on here, we can keep it bumped up near the top for long time! LOL!! Go Ducks!!
  8. I think we're going to have to defer to our resident logging professional @Log Haulin for an answer on this question. Go Ducks!!
  9. I was one of the very disappointed Duck fans when he chose to go elsewhere out of high school. Hind sight being what it is, had he come here originally, he probably would have been in the portal anyway - only leaving us to go somewhere else (you know, that whole Mari no Offense thing...). I'm glad he came back home, I feel like the timing is just right, and I'm glad he's turning into such an asset. Go Ducks!!
  10. And... ...it's the same old, same old... Sounds like the fans in Miami are disloyal too... waddya think about that?
  11. One thing I remember from the Georgia game, is that to my eye the officiating was way superior to what I'm used to seeing out here on the west coast. They were fair, efficient and timely - no 20 minute drawn out reviews. I would like to see Pac 12 officiating look like that. Go Ducks!!
  12. I am looking for a step(s) ahead. I think Our Beloved Ducks are better than we realize. It's unfortunate in one sense that we played Goliath (oops, I mean Georgia ) right out of the gate, and in another sense I think it was the best thing that could have happened. There's nothing like jumping into the (very) deep end of the pool to find out if you can swim or not. Week 1 in Georgia, we were kinda looking for the life guard. Week 2 we gathered ourselves, remembered that we are the Mighty Fighting Ducks and having been tried in fire, were galvanized into the team we are to become. I have been reading this week that it's too bad that BYU turned out to not be the team everyone thought they were. What if they are that team? I think it's time not to disparage our opponent because they lost to us, but rather take the perspective that however good they are, we are better. I feel like we are seeing improvement not just as a steady upward line on the graph of all things football, but as an exponential, explosive jump up the cliff toward greatness. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's contest and seeing how much better we are this week than last week! Go Ducks!!
  13. Here you go: Go Ducks!!
  14. Interesting thoughts. All the Ducks stuff I watch going streaming might be what it takes for me to cut the cable cord. I also think way more people already have Amazon Prime (as I do), so it's not like it would be an additional expense. Go Ducks!!
  15. ...in tomorrow's contest? The first 2 games have really been outliers. The Georgia game - playing possibly the best team in the country with a brand new everything - Coaches, Staff, New Offence, New Defense, New guys in new positions, etc... And we get blown out. The Eastern Washington we show out and do everything we should do to a team - almost a half mile of total offence, strong performances by both offensive and defensive lines. A total domination from beginning to end. Where does that leave us and what are we now looking for? I posit that in real life our Ducks are in between those 2 extremes. As much as I want the win, I think I am looking for something more. I want to see us be competitive. I want to see guys playing their hearts out. I want to see us deliver a strong competitive performance that win, lose or draw we can collectively see improvement on all fronts - from coaching decisions, to who makes the big plays, to who delivers a strong blue collar performance by dominating their position (whatever that is). Realizing it's a mantra from the past, I want to see Fast, Hard, Finish! That's what I'm looking for. What are you looking for? Go Ducks!!
  16. Sounds like Deja Vu all over again.... Hahaha!!
  17. Thanks for posting this. I used to really enjoy watching these guys, but now that I live way the heck up in warshington, I'm outta luck.
  18. I'm hoping there's going to be a lot of "OK, I get it now" from many (most?) of the players this week, not only defense, but offense too. Nothing like live, competitive action to nail down the lessons you have been trying to learn, perhaps abstractly. Playing and scrimmaging with your own team is no where near what it is like going into a hostile environment with hostile players on the other side. Stuff gets real and lessons get learned. I too am looking forward to that big jump forward in performance. Go Ducks!!
  19. 31 - 28 Ducks 3 TO 4 sacks 350 passing yards
  20. I appreciate the Gordon Lightfoot reference. That song still gives me the chills every time I hear it. Hopefully this is a premonition of things to come, and that the course of the good ship USuCk will follow the trajectory of the last fateful voyage of the Edmund Fitzgerald - straight to the icy bottom. RIP!! Go Ducks!!
  21. Thanks for sharing that! I missed it when I looked at the article with Saturday's uni selection. I'm pleased they're honoring Spencer in that fashion! Go Ducks!!
  22. From the article... I'm down, it's a fantastic look! Go Ducks!!
  23. I had wondered where he went...
  24. Thanks @Charles Fischer for keeping this site family friendly and free from a lot of crap found on other sites. A few minutes ago I was reading through the comments on this article (posted on the forum today, outsourced, not our material): Georgia football: 3 reasons Oregon could shock the Bulldogs WWW.SATURDAYDOWNSOUTH.COM It's not LIKELY, mind you, but we're here to tell you that it wouldn't be an earth-shaking upset. It was not too horrible as forums go, but the anatomical correctness displayed was an eye opener. I am so happy to have a forum to come to where decency and manners matter. Thanks Charles! Go Ducks!!
  25. Could it be... ...the trojan horse's fault??
