  1. Ducks need to settle into their game. Run the dang ball!
  2. Yeah. Prolly. It wasn't a gimme by any means too. Nix had to evade one defender.
  3. Last week, I don't think the Ducks had any drops.
  4. Nix doesn't look so swift to start, his passes are off.
  5. Auburn fans have stated that Nix's OL and pass protection was garbage, when he played for the Tigers. If DL thought Nix was the most athletic QB that he faced in the SEC, even with his dominant Georgia defense, that speaks volumes of Nix's potential. Had he had better pass protection and a system that allowed him to play loose, call audibles, and flourish, who knows what kind of gaudy numbers that he could have put up. Oh wait....he has been doing it this season as a Duck.
  6. How many recruits can the Ducks take this class? They got 21 commitments as of yesterday. This may be a stupid question but why do the Ducks look like they are collecting Edge rushers this class? We got three committed already. I'm assuming DL is holding a spot open for Matayo too. Is DL going to send some of the players packing?
  7. aTm also might be prime pickings. That environment is toxic. Maybe, DL and staff can persuade David Hicks Jr. and Samu Taumanpepe to give the Ducks a second look.
  8. I'm thrilled that the Ducks have Bucky and how great he has been able to run the ball. His future looks extremely bright as a Duck. However, I can't say that anyone of those three backs were significantly faster than the other. Their 40 yard dash times are pretty identical from low to high, with maybe, a slight edge to Bucky. I can say that Verdell was definitively, the slowest of the flock though. It was not easy finding running times for these players, and I don't know how reliable they are but this is what I found on Draft Scout: FishDuck's own Mike Kelly also reported Dye running a 4.32 time. Although, he could have gotten slower since, with the added weight. The Complete Package: Oregon Running Back Travis Dye FISHDUCK.COM A talent evaluation of Oregon Ducks freshman running back Travis Dye from Norco, California. From what I have seen, Dye hasn't had any problems shedding tacklers this season. I forget which game it was but on one run for SUC, he broke 4 tackles and scored a TD. If it had not been for the efforts of Dye, SUC could easily be a 2 or 3 loss team right now. Also, it's hard to judge these players from the previous season, because they all could have improved. Like ICamel pointed out, yards would have been hard to come by, for any back executing MariØ's predictable, run the ball up the gut, against a stacked box, in a vertically challenged offense. He still managed to do more than alright last year, rushing for 1,271 yards and scoring 16 TDs. Many times, I was amazed at how Dye was able to create something out of nothing and escape out of the backfield. MariØ ran him ragged, and you could tell he was banged up, playing without an injured Verdell, but he kept churning those legs and fighting for extra yards. People can question his skills, but no one could ever question his heart. Hell, guys like him were the heart of the Oregon team which is why, it is not hard to see how he became the heart of SUC team and a fan favorite, from very early on. I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but I just want you guys to have all the facts before you make a fair assessment/comparison. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions which makes for healthy discussions. Having said all that, I still want SUC to lose every remaining game. It may harm Oregon's chances of getting to the playoffs, but if it is meant to be, then they will get there, because they belong there.
  9. The same Cal that handed the Buffs their first win of the season?
  10. Yeah, the whole time I was holding my breath, hoping that there were no false starts.
  11. SUC is still whining about their loss to Utah and talking like they are still the team to beat. One of the posters said, "fUCLA finally facing a team that can punch back." So what does that say about your loss to the Utes who got their arses handed to them by the Bruins?
  12. Hey, when you know, you know. The onside kick was ballsy, but the QB sneaks on 4th down is knowing your personnel and how they match up with your opponent. Our OL owned UCLA's DL. That was confident play calling.
  13. I'm impartial. I still think the world of Travis Dye, even if he transferred to SUC. MariØ, and now LR, rode him hard. Both are solid backs that for all purposes are defined as workhorses. Both of them get the job done.
  14. If MariØ knew what he was doing and didn't have the offense take their foot off the gas, last year's team wouldn't have had to carry that burden.
  15. Our defense would tackle much better but probably still lose that battle to Georgia's offense. As for our offense, they would put up points. This isn't the same offense and not the same Nix. We've seen him grow up in a hurry. I think ANY defense would struggle to contain this dynamic, potent offense. The way Nix is running this offense and running the ball, especially when the Ducks need a 1st down, he poses too many challenges for opposing defenses. Since the WSU game, the Ducks have been beating their opponents by halftime. And it would have held true for today too, had our D not been so soft and gotten one more stop. If the Ducks can beat the Utes, I would consider this a winning season. Anything beyond that would be extra gravy on top. But hats off to DL for turning heads in his first year as HC.
  16. It's possible that Clemson could fall a bit too. They had to bench DJ, and it wasn't a convincing win, playing from behind, at home.
  17. Hopefully, we won't have to imagine. I want to see DL make it a reality. Unfortunately, he may not have the dudes to run his ideal defense yet. He needs more time. I agree and would be nervous if the Ducks were to play in the playoffs today. We would have to rely on our offense to outscore the other team.
