  1. Great community Charles! Thankful for your duckness in keeping this alive for the fans.
  2. Brings back memories of rat ball time in the gym with him during the offseason. Can’t think of his name, but there was another 7 footer playing at the same time that didn’t see much playing time. Ron? I generally would guard Rasmussen because I was tougher than the other 7 footer. It was hard to convince Blair to go to the rim because his fall away jumper from 10 feet was so good. He didn’t like playing with a body on him and I was a lean 6’2” at the time. He had surgery to correct his ankles as they were a nagging pain in college. He had a decent NBA career in Denver. He was a good classmate too.
  3. The old saying was that it takes a coach and a quarterback as leaders for a championship level football team. The rest of the players have to be willing to run through walls for their two leaders. We were close this year. We had it going in the Shoe. But football is a long season, and some of the players lost faith and quit. Quitting is bad form, but the loss of faith is the saddest. We saw how a unified team with equal at best talent handled a talented but divided team on Saturday night. I hope that Mario and AB are able to unite the team this week, or we will watch another less talented team unite behind a coach and a quarterback.
  4. Maybe the idea that half the country fought FOR slavery doesn’t sit well with a lot of the current players, former players, alumni, and fans? If the old name of the game isn’t appealing to the current players and administration from either team, why wouldn’t we support a new name?
  5. My group of four ticket holders were disappointed with how the game went Saturday, but are looking forward to seeing the rematch in person on Dec 3. Just need to get past the Beavs at Autzen Saturday. I am still optimistic about a good shot at the Rose Bowl, and hope the young Ducks want to fly south again this winter.
  6. A SoCal honk believes the Trojans will be riding high with the next coaching hire? And the ole cheating Huskies will be football prowess again with a new top Dawg on the lake? Pass the bowl, as those teams won’t be playing in one anytime soon.
  7. What timing! I was just now consoling my family by saying at least we are not Texas!
  8. I am happy to see the Beavs turn things around with Coach Smith in charge. I admired him as an undersized walk on who lead our rival OSU to a Fiesta Bowl beat down of the Irish and a #2 national ranking.
  9. Based on how Coach used Herbert, do we really need to wait to see what happens with the next talented quarterback? UO has become game manager U in the OLD Saban model, based on Mario’s time under Nick.
  10. Ducks started the week with the loss of a passionate player, lost a senior leader to injury mid week, suffered passionless play and coaching, plus another serious injury to a key player during the game. The injuries hurt, but the lack of passion indicates the hurt is more than skin deep. Will this team get over the hurt? Or will this team become who Vegas thought they would be, a 9 win team?
  11. I feel like I know less about what it means to Brown to play for the Ducks than any other starting quarterback in history. Am I missing all his interviews?
  12. OBD prognosticators had as bad a game as our beloved Ducks. We must regroup and focus on being 1 - 0 next week.
  13. C’mon Oregon Athletics. That “potential” critical hit is a certainty. The remaining young Ducks are playing for pride in the state of Oregon next week, possibly without players that understand the rivalry with the Beavers. I hope there is honesty in the locker room to get past the Pittman cloud.
  14. Aside from transfer Williams, were the rest of the Duck receivers in the draft classes with Ashford, Butterfield, and Thompson? Is Brown the old man out?
  15. I am counting on winning next week at home in the Battle for Oregon.
  16. Gotta luv the Ducks, right? I can’t wait to watch the rematch in Vegas for the PAC 12 championship!
  17. Couch coaches in my family room agreed that we would punt out of bounds to end the half, then watched in horror as we punted deep to the top return man in the PAC 12. The Duck coaches appear brain dead. Time for a fresh quarterback too, but they don’t see it.
  18. Is the lack of effort against Utah a sign of players support for Pittman? Not a good look in prime time.
  19. Seems that Stanford and Cal can claim the rights to the Academic Prowess Bowl name since the Huskies can’t.
  20. This is spot on. Buckles have better players across the board, and a had a solid game plan for MSU. Ducks players are almost as good, but may have won in the Shoe solely based on a bad Buckles defensive plan that assumed Mario would run pistol plunge all game. My guess is that we were all witness to a multi year setup designed to win that one game. Fans may have been frustrated during the big con, but it cost a D coordinator his job and got the Ducks a signature win.
  21. Discussion of non-league games and injuries is interesting, but not relevant to the quoted league stats that show Utah as a slight favorite at home Saturday. Utah has performed slightly better in league play than the Ducks so far this year. No argument. There are two games left for the Ducks to win big enough to overtake Utah in league play stats. If they do, they should play as the favorite to win the PAC 12 championship.
  22. Good article. I expect the passing game to remain as it has as long as the running game is successful. And if the running game falters, Coach C is stubborn and will expect the Ducks to run harder.
  23. According to ESPN’s Kyle Bonagura: Through seven conference games, Oregon (6-1) and Utah (6-1) have put up similar statistics. Utah (38.4 points per game) is slightly outscoring Oregon (34.2) and has given up just five fewer points (162 to 167). Both teams are outgunning their opponents by 99.0 yards per game (693 yards total) and are nearly even in turnover margin (Utah +3; Oregon +2). They have the two most efficient scoring offenses in the conference (Utah at 3.33 points per drive; Oregon at 2.91). Utah has a slight edge on defense too, allowing just 1.96 points per drive to Oregon’s 2.04, and has committed just 4.29 penalties per game to Oregon’s 7.86
  24. Saturday A 20 percent chance of rain before 8am. Partly sunny, with a high near 45. Northwest wind 3 to 7 mph. Saturday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 30. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
