  1. BREAKING: Washington State QB Cam Ward announces transfer to Oregon Ducks SPORTS.YAHOO.COM The Ducks have a new QB in the mix for 2024. Former Washington State QB Cameron Ward is coming to Eugene.
  2. Cam Ward commits to the Ducks 30 min after entering the portal. Well that sure is one way to kill all speculation! Welcome to Oregon Cam!
  3. Cam Ward is officially on the market. Could we see him and Will Stein engineer another offensive juggernaut next season? Washington State QB Cam Ward to enter transfer portal - ESPN WWW.ESPN.COM Washington State quarterback Cam Ward announced he will enter his name in the transfer portal on Friday, adding that he will also evaluate his NFL draft prospects.
  4. Tyler Shough is high risk, medium reward. He has experience and decent instincts; but is cursed by the injury bug. The fibula fracture is no small injury. Why would we risk a scholarship and the threat of defections from our own team for a guy that has a higher likelihood than Bo of going down for the season? There will be plenty of experienced QBs in the portal in the offseason. Cam Ward Aidan Chiles Tyler Van Dyke (if he comes back for a season) Maalik Murphy You can't tell me a sales pitch to either of the Pac-2 QBs to come play in the B1G wouldn't be enticing.
  5. I watched Dante Moore play a few games this season. He honestly looks like a kid that has serious potential. Yes, some of his throws were flat and ripe for the picking; which clearly happened. But he also showed good ball placement for a true frosh. He's got good instincts. Has legs to scoot if need be as well (which is all we are asking of Bo). My hang up on him comes with whether or not he is willing to be humbled and taught the right way. Can he handle being told some of his tendencies are wrong? What is his attitude about a true QB competition? Bo came to Oregon and was basically the equivalent of a house remodel (tear down to the bones and rebuild on existing foundation). The difference is that Bo saw the need for a hard reboot and threw all ego out the window. I would like to see Oregon's coaching staff develop in-house talent over transfers any day. But there is value in transfers for pushing the competition. If this kid is willing to compete and let ego go in favor of development, I don't see why we wouldn't look at him. We wanted him in the first place.
  6. Gateway Grill is a great place to post up and watch the earlier games of the day (lots of tvs) while throwing back some good food and drinks. Close enough to Autzen that it's a quick drive but far enough that you can usually get a seat no problem.
  7. Not a trap game this year. Oregon has done quite well at disrupting inexperienced QBs all season (Shedeur Sanders, Bryson Barnes). This Cal offense, though RPO heavy and quick, relies heavily on their run game to set up the pass game. Just as defenses did to the fast Oregon teams of the mid-2000s, containing the run game at the line of scrimmage will be paramount. Limit Jayden Ott to 75 rush yards or less and this QB will be forced to try his luck through the air. I'll take our secondary matching up with Cal's receivers any day. We have shown the skillset to consistently rush 3 (4 maximum) while keeping a spy on the QB. If we can create containment that severely limits a QB who likes to take off with the ball, he will again be forced into passing down situations that we are starting to thrive in. I have nothing to say about our offense except if (I mean when) we go up big we need to get Bucky, Troy, and Bo out of the game!
  8. Drew Mehringer might as well go after Duce Robinson again!
  9. Jackson Powers-Johnson ranks among nation’s best centers, leads No. 8 Oregon’s offensive line vs. No. 13 Utah WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM Jackson Powers-Johnson has allowed just one quarterback pressure and one hurry in 256 opportunities and leads No. 8 Oregon with 23 knockdowns entering this week’s game at No. 13...
  10. I really wish Stein would implement this package on manageable yardage situations as well. There are constraint plays that could be run off this formation. It forces a defense to either sell out for a strength vs. strength match-up at the LOS, which opens up a receiver, running-back, QB keeper; or attempt to play their regular 3rd-4th down coverage. Stein should love the options this play gives a smart QB like Nix This is the play I wished Oregon would have run last year against Washington. The D was showing extra men at the line and the call could have easily been made to pop Whittington outside rather than straight up the gut (where he slipped). He could have either handed the ball to him or swung a pitch to him (Like OSU did to Utah in the 4th down that went to the house). I hope Stein/Lanning re-discover the benefits of 14-J. We may need a long, time-killing drive to close a game out. This does the trick
  11. I'd like to see comparison with time of possession and how it stacks up to the Kelly/Helfrich years. We move quickly down the field these days but its because of chunk yardage and not 18 second snap counts (though we dial up the tempo regularly). At least during Dillingham's one year we were able to control the pace of the game. Fast when needed, slow when it's to our advantage.
  12. Kid should try and get a medical waiver for next season, transfer to a school with a high level offense that he can win the job at, then exhaust his eligibility and go be a coach!
  13. 1 PAC team will get in if it is 1 loss and the conference champ. They are not giving a 1 loss non-champ in the PAC a shot if the BIG and SEC also have 1 loss non-champs. That bias won't simply wear off just because of how many teams we have ranked to start the season. The CFP committee has always, and is just looking for reasons to slide our teams down the rankings. I do think that IF Oregon, Washington, and USuC were in the BIG in 2023 there would definitely be a path to getting two teams in. But in the PAC? That's as likely as Aaron Rodgers coming back this season.
  14. If college football decides to break away from the NCAA as a separate collegiate entity (which is what it looks like it's headed towards) then this model makes decent sense.
  15. Should have called a dang timeout! Let Bo back in for the short yardage play. Watching him jump up and down on the sidelines next to Lanning wanting to go back in was more painful than his injury!
  16. He goes there and takes his staff with him!? Mark my words, within a few season the civil war game (or whatever they call it up there) becomes nationally relevant.
  17. I'll say that Ty is looking much more comfortable this year than he has ever looked. He still has flashes of that robotic, deer in the headlights look we saw last year. But once he is settled down he looks like he is getting into a decent rhythm. I do think he needs to take command of the offense when he is given his opportunity and make it his. But Austin Novosad looks good and is learning fast. I was at the Hawaii game and he has some serious zip on his balls during warm up. I fully expect him to make a serious run at the starting job next year.
  18. Wouldn't surprise me if the end-game for these schools is to create enough noise this year to get one of the other power conferences (Big 12 or ACC) to eventually snag them up and end the Greek tragedy of the PAC once and for all.
  19. This article actually puts into words, pretty accurately, the struggles with the run game that we saw last Saturday. We saw Bucky be his normal shifty, explosive self, but had to work much harder to do it. I will give Cristobal his due, he did develop a road grating OL, which Klemm inherited and expanded upon. Without veteran leadership and knowledge (A'lique Terry's first OL coach post), I assume this is going to be a learn on the job season; we unfortunately cannot expect to see the same kind of production at the O Line as we've seen in past seasons. It actually speaks volumes about Will Stein's coaching chops if he was able to recognize the weak link and adjust the entire offensive play-calling scheme to compensate; and still get the rest of the team to pick up the slack in the second half!
  20. I find this a bit confounding because our receiving corps, on paper, should easily be top 10 in the nation. Additionally, all the talk in the offseason was how the Will Stein passing game was being tooled to take maximum advantage of our skill positions. And what we saw against TT was a game made much closer by the drops. I believe this was why our run game saw a noticeable drop in yards per carry. The receivers dropped balls, therefore more running concepts were implemented, which caused the TT defense to load up and dare Bo to pass. The one wrinkle that gave us an advantage in the 2nd half were the QB runs. This again opened up the passing lanes in much needed situations. However, the QB running to keep a defense honest doesn't help receivers catch balls any better. They legitimately seemed out of sync at times (which could be due to the hostile environment), and nearly all of Bo's deep shots sailed a tad too far (could have been amped by the energy in the stadium). I want to see our receivers being thrown open and then taking advantage of their skill against a defender to make the play.
