  1. Wouldn't surprise me if the end-game for these schools is to create enough noise this year to get one of the other power conferences (Big 12 or ACC) to eventually snag them up and end the Greek tragedy of the PAC once and for all.
  2. This article actually puts into words, pretty accurately, the struggles with the run game that we saw last Saturday. We saw Bucky be his normal shifty, explosive self, but had to work much harder to do it. I will give Cristobal his due, he did develop a road grating OL, which Klemm inherited and expanded upon. Without veteran leadership and knowledge (A'lique Terry's first OL coach post), I assume this is going to be a learn on the job season; we unfortunately cannot expect to see the same kind of production at the O Line as we've seen in past seasons. It actually speaks volumes about Will Stein's coaching chops if he was able to recognize the weak link and adjust the entire offensive play-calling scheme to compensate; and still get the rest of the team to pick up the slack in the second half!
  3. I find this a bit confounding because our receiving corps, on paper, should easily be top 10 in the nation. Additionally, all the talk in the offseason was how the Will Stein passing game was being tooled to take maximum advantage of our skill positions. And what we saw against TT was a game made much closer by the drops. I believe this was why our run game saw a noticeable drop in yards per carry. The receivers dropped balls, therefore more running concepts were implemented, which caused the TT defense to load up and dare Bo to pass. The one wrinkle that gave us an advantage in the 2nd half were the QB runs. This again opened up the passing lanes in much needed situations. However, the QB running to keep a defense honest doesn't help receivers catch balls any better. They legitimately seemed out of sync at times (which could be due to the hostile environment), and nearly all of Bo's deep shots sailed a tad too far (could have been amped by the energy in the stadium). I want to see our receivers being thrown open and then taking advantage of their skill against a defender to make the play.
  4. The run game needs to at the very least triple the numbers that were put up at TT. This needs to be an absolute strength to be leaned on so that opposing defenses are forced to make sacrifices in coverage; which opens up the Troy Franklins, and Tez Johnsons of the team for chuck pass plays. Another thing that I'd like to see more control of, which was a huge factor in wins last year, is tempo control. We saw KD dial up the tempo when the opportunity arose and really hammer on what the defense was giving him. But we also saw him dial it back when necessary to chew clock. I believe there was a stat that showed the Ducks were the #1 team in the nation at scoring during the middle 8 minutes of the game (last 4 of second Qtr, first 4 of 3rd Qtr). KD even made mention of doing math on how many average opportunities an opposing team would give the Ducks to score, and would base his tempo scheme accordingly in order to pick up an extra scoring opportunity for the Ducks or to take away a scoring opportunity for the other team.
  5. If I were Phil Knight I would back the Brinks truck up to Lanning's doorstep and tell him to find whatever defensive staff he wants/needs. If Lanning truly had unlimited resources, his defensive coaching prowess coupled with staff strength would be giving off '85 Bears vibes. P.S. I agree with some of the sentiment about Lupoi. I want to see him actually earn the 6th highest paid DC in the nation salary. I haven't as of yet.
  6. 98 degrees in Lubbock on Saturday means about 108 on the field! They're gonna need all the white they can get! Better have the cooling vests on the sidelines for everyone
  7. Barring some absolute major fluke of a performance. It appears Will Stein is absolutely a win of a hire by Lanning. Seems like he has a somewhat more reserved, quiet demeanor (similar to TT). Maybe that has helped him be more relatable in teaching the Xs and Os. I like Kenny Dillingham but he is just about the loudest, most animated OC Oregon has ever had and some kids just don't learn as well under that. Novosad looked confident out there as well. You could see him not hesitating to check the protection with his linemen. I have no doubt that with a season under his belt he will make a legitimate push to win the job next year. My confidence in how our QB room is shaping up for 2024 has started to really grow.
  8. Agree. Autzen during a yellow-out game looks way better than any other color combination.
  9. I wonder how many times during his recruitment visit Dante was told he'd be the starter in Westwood. Now they'll play him his 4 games, probably spaced out during the season to try to keep him from skipping town. Honestly, did he not do his homework on how many times Chip Kelly has started a true freshman? DTR and that's because he had no choice.
  10. I only boo the refs and the wet pups from Seattle. Both have rightly earned it. Usually drinking my beer when the opposing team runs out because I don't want anything in my hands when that Harley sound starts blasting from the endzone.
  11. Just saw the PWO status on another article. I remember him being recruited by Crist-no-ball and then didn't hear much about him after that. Says something that he's walking on rather than taking a scholarship offer from Miami 🤨
  12. The kid has re-classified as ATH. But do we really need to burn a scholarship on a 3rd 2024 QB? North Salem’s TC Manumaleuna commits to Oregon Ducks WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM A three-star prospect in the class of 2024, Manumaleuna announced his commitment to the Ducks Sunday night.
  13. There is also this idea... Maybe one of the few things soccer has gotten right ever. I give you the Promotion/Relegation model
  14. I heard at her last team, Karen DeBoer was constantly complaining at the refs. She would almost always ask to see their manager!
  15. Perks of being tied to a computer for 3/4 of the day starting at 7AM! 👍
  16. Curious to see how the 2nd string QB pecking order will eventually shake out this season. Do we think Ty has improved enough to be the unquestioned wingman to Bo? or could Novosad make this a more difficult choice? Lanning says Austin Novosad has 'made huge strides' this offseason 247SPORTS.COM Oregon coach Dan Lanning was very high on the summer true freshman QB Austin Novosad has had since arriving for spring.
  17. SC is most definitely Aunt Edna!
  18. Sources: Big Ten has begun preliminary talks to potentially add Oregon, Washington, Cal and Stanford SPORTS.YAHOO.COM The Big Ten has been reluctant to move to 20 teams, even if many in college athletics believe expansive superconferences are inevitable. Could all these Brutus/Puddles hints be leading to an Oppenheimer sized bombshell?
  19. Now we just need to hang 45 on 'em in the first half, sit Bo by Q3, and let Stein call up the deep shots and have Thompson finally air it out! Then eat some bison burger in the parking lot! 🍔
  20. If the conference is doomed to die a slow death (over the next season or so) I'd say lets lock him on the bridge and let him go down with the ship. If there is any hope of survival for the conference then he needs go! The man played poker with an entire athletic organization and had his bluff called. One doesn't tend to survive that...
