With the Ducks ahead of OSU, if both win out, hopefully the committee follows their protocols and Oregon’s H2H win trumps (small “t”) their possible strength of schedule advantage at the end of the year. Of course, a 2 L Big 10 champ eliminates the ESPN/Herbstreit bias, and a 1 L Big 12 champ would be nice also. Of course, the Big 12 having 10 teams and the Big 10 having 12 should count for a loss regardless based upon their math skills, or lack there of. Then, we have to see if an undefeated Cinderllannati makes it as bone thrown to the gang of 5. So, besides having the Ducks go 12 -1 leading up to the Bowl/CFP season, do you prefer a Rose Bowl appearance or a CFP appearance? In the past there has been debate about being ready for the CFP and whether a Rose Bowl appearance is better than “an exposure” CFP loss. For me it is the CFP as I think that is/should be the goal every year with the Rose Bowl a consolation prize. Kinda like the Huskies hoping for the Sun Bowl each year, and settling for one of ESPN’s Gasparilla, First Responders or Armed Forces Bowls. Plus, I think recruits want to be on CFP teams/contenders as opposed to Sun Bowl type teams (see above). Bottom line for me is that this year I am turning off my Strawberry Alarm Clock so as to not wake-up from my Green and Yellow Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test Cocktail and a 15 - 1 record ..... #15 being the back-to-back Georgia wins to start the 2022 season!!!!
  2. According to Scott Eklund at 247/7 sports among the list of reasons .... ACADEMICS Right now this is the hot answer to give when a recruit is asked about what he's looking for in a program. Lots of kids say academics are their first priority, yet they go on to spurn top-rated academic institutions, who also have very good football programs, to sign with "football factories" whose academics aren't on par with the schools they also had committable offers from. This is not an indictment of the prospects or the process, it is up to the coaching staffs at each school to promote their program and brand and show them why they need to sign with their school. However, some fans have a hard time understanding why kids choose schools when they have stated many times that they are looking for a school with strong academics. Four-star wide receiver Nicholas Anderson tripped out to Oklahoma this past weekend for a visit and ended up flipping his verbal commitment. per https://247sports.com/college/oregon/Article/Oregon-Ducks-Football-Recruiting-174345822/ Ok by me as: 1) It doesn't appear to be a position of need; 2) Wasn't due to the Duck product on the field, a brother on the other team and the other team a top program also.
  8. In the last 2½ games, we have finally seen consistency from AB. This coincides with Moorehead missing the Stanford game and being in the booth for Cal, UCLA and CU. And maybe he was “in the booth” for the Stanford game watching from his hospital bed. We have to remember that Moorehead really didn’t have a year with AB in 2020 as: 1) Covid SEVERELY limited their time together; and, 2) Tyler Slough was the 1st teamer. So now, after 5½ weeks (starting with the second half of the Cal game) Moorehead has a complete picture of what AB can and cannot not due. The play calling has dramatically changed to mainly use AB strengths. Ohio State was the anomaly, but that may have been due to Moorehead game planning ahead of time what he thought would work best and it just coincided with AB’s strengths.

  11. As Jon Wilner points out, Oregon (7-1/4-1) is alone in first place, but the Huskies (4-4/3-2) are one game back and would control a tiebreaker with a head-to-head victory. Very much something to play for, for both teams besides the normal vitriol.
  12. Great response from MC. If TT doesn't throw the int and we at least get a FG, then he would have finished the game. Instead, the 1st teamers got to practice another 4 -6 minute drill. Win Win
  13. My DVR recorded the game in both Spanish and the regular Fox broadcast. The Spanish version started on time, so I watched for the first Quarter while the Spartans were at it. On Cardwell's first long run the announcer's description was priceless " Wupppp, ADIOS"
  14. On Tuesday when the first rankings come out, Oregon should be ahead of OSU based upon a tougher schedule so far and a H2H win. We'll see if the committee holds true to their past saying H2H matters. I think another OSU loss helps us tremendously as long as the Big10 champ is undefeated.

  16. Charles, in your last screen shot, it looks as if JJIII is running past the defender and a perfect pass will be a TD. Only problem, that throw is usually not in AB repertoire. High risk, looooow reward.
  17. Hoping Mario is here for the long run, 10+ years. If so, when he is gone, we have learned that recruiting ability should be #1 on the new coaches resume. And hopefully, as in the past, there is someone within to promote.

  20. That's sooooooooooooo true, but it can be the Pit with lipstick when it is rocking. I remember being at the Pit when Cal came in a ranked team in 1969 and lost. That was the first time the scoreboard shook and the next day they brought in earthquake inspectors to check the place out.
  21. I am going to disagree with the analogy. Oregon shares the Pac 12 revenue, however it has it's side job with its own brand that does not share that revenue; jersey sales, ticket sales, donations, etc. Plus, those "others" with their lagging production allows Oregon to pad their record and remain on top. P.S. I survived a law firm where they had a Big 12 type partnership = unequal partners (talking Texas here), I got out 1 year prior to being offered one of those "prestigious labels"/partner. I knew I made the right decision when years later I represented the top partner in his bankruptcy!

  23. Personally, I don't want a playoff wherein any team has a bye. Therefore, either 8 or 16 teams. I prefer 8, otherwise I think they will have to shorten the season to accommodate the extra round. In regard to all sites at bowl games, if it is an 8 team playoff, fine. 12 or 16 teams, I think you are asking too much travel for fans.
