We Lost Another Duck: Longtime OBD Member and FishDuck Writer...
The Polynesian Bowl website has a list of players that they invite each year. It invites top high school players to participate, and many have Polynesian ancestry. While not a comprehensive list of Polynesian players, the website reflects that many invitees are actively recruited.

Oregon HC Defends Bo Nix, Troy Franklin; Compares NFL Draft Analysts to 'Weathermen'
Many successful college QB’s may never deal with self doubt and the backlash of negative sports media reporting. Bo Nix has been through that emotional rollercoaster and elevated his game to secure a job in the NFL. I have no grand predictions about his future career, but the mental fortitude needed to overcome adversity is a difficult trait to measure. Nix has done it before, and probably will do it again.

Quuaaack! No. 7 RB in Nation, Dierre Hill Commits to Oregon!
He plays at a smaller high school, but looks like he isn’t just running over smaller players like a Thomas Tyner. Tough to stay healthy trying to run everyone over. Good short burst and speed. Nice catch for the Ducks.

When Times Were Better for USC Fans...(This Hasn't Aged Well)
The long-term exposure to SoCal exhaust fumes is a main contributor to cognitive impairment. It is common to find the afflicted to share their nonsensical thoughts on social media. Many will also demonstrate a superiority complex that is loosely based upon ancient history.

FishDuck Defensive Line Analysis: Will Oregon Miss Ben Roberts?
The turnover rate of players when you take into account graduation, players with NFL aspirations, the transfer portal, and recruiting is tough to keep up with for casual fans of college football. The portal is a game changer. However, it definitely pushes players out of a program. I have mixed emotions about those that choose, or are asked to leave. I always wonder about the conversations that lead to those decisions. Ben Roberts potential is gone, and is replaced with an experienced player. The Ducks have improved as a team, and the reality of high level college football is left in its wake.

Comparing the Ceiling of Our Offense: Bo Nix vs. Dillon Gabriel
I think Bo was very astute at reading defenses, and changed calls at the line of scrimmage often with great success. You can’t undersell that aspect of the game. I am not familiar with Dillon’s body of work. He has been a winner wherever he goes, and I expect that he will manage games quite well for our Ducks I don’t know enough to talk about ceilings, or floors, for players. I do know that Bo resurrected a career that was in turmoil at Oregon. He battled back and ended up the #12 pick in the draft. Overcoming adversity is what the QB position is all about. You are a hero, or a scapegoat. I hope that he thrives at his new job.

Oregon TV Kickoff at 9:00 AM: Are you IN?
Can’t really be called a true fan if a clock gets in the way of watching a good game.

Big Impact: Nick Aliotti Offers a Perspective that NO ONE Else Can...
The entire game is getting bigger. I can remember in the mid 80’s when announcers were amazed at the size of Refrigerator Perry at 325 lbs. Today, that seems normal. When I see that we have a commitment from a high school OL/DL that is under 280 lbs, I think that they probably have to hit the weight room and nutrition program for a few years before they can play. However, I agree, the Ducks currently have size and strength that seems unprecedented. .

Bo Nix No. 12 Pick to Denver: NFL Draft Thread of Thoughts and Reactions
Ughh…I will need to watch Bronco football on purpose.

Group of Five Playoff being Pitched by Derek Dooley, Financially Backed by Private Equity Firms
More power to any conference that can sell their content and generate media revenue. Media companies pay for content as long as it is profitable to them. If you can sell your playoff idea, great. However, there are a lot of moving parts that need to be agreed upon. Ratings, ultimately decide if your content is valuable.

Oklahoma Spring Game Observation- Heisman Capital Of CFB
Venables will find out quickly that the BIG12 and ACC were a much easier path to a playoff berth. Schooners will need Heisman caliber QBs to compete in the SEC. Venables record at Oklahoma is 16 - 10. If he stumbles in the SEC how long will he last as HC?

Some Advice Please... Wife Wants to Offer a B&B for the Ohio State Game
I would connect with your insurance agent before opening up your home. You will want higher liability coverage than most home policies provide.

Some Advice Please... Wife Wants to Offer a B&B for the Ohio State Game
Unless you’re charging an extremely high amount, not worth it.

Is MKA Basketball Floor Being Replaced?
The reason behind the court having a unique design was noble. However, it is time to move on. Most agree that it is a major distraction watching a game on TV.

Mari(0) - A Record that Will Never Be Broken?
John Ruiz, decided to take matters into his own hands and throw money at making Miami sports relevant. Life wallet, a company he controls (LIFW), has had an epic loss in value in the last 18 months. Trading on the NASDAQ in 2022 for about $250/share, today it is less than $1/share, and in jeopardy of being delisted. Federal investigation ongoing. That is a good sign of the judgement and leadership he provides. You may fool investors once, but afterward it becomes much more difficult. It will be interesting to see how much more money he wants to give teenagers, and coaches.

15 Teams We Want the Oregon Ducks to Play for the First Time
The AD should schedule OOC games with an eye on being able get the offense and defense ready for conference play. Preferably while being able to rest starters and allow young players to gain important experience by the end of the 3rd quarter. Playing top tier OOC teams doesn’t make much sense in the playoff era. Keeping starters sharp while being able to rest them during a playoff campaign makes much more sense. With the number of games being played increasing, budget your travel money. It could easily cost $25k to $35k per person to go to a conference championship, and all playoff games. More, if you want premium seats.

Oh My! Oregon WBB: It Couldn’t Get Any Worse?
He had a championship caliber team and COVID definitely took away an opportunity to win it. That seems to have broken his desire and ambition needed to stay competitive at that level. Personally, I don’t follow WBB. However, it is obvious that an honest assessment of the program’s head coach is needed.

Our Fight Song vs Theirs ...
The Oregon Fight song is great. Although, I have noticed fewer fans stand up for the song at the football games. Perhaps our alumni are standing in line trying to get a beer. I always thought it would be cool if Nike would embrace the marching band. Create some different Uniform combos with band members wearing retro Air Jordans…lol

More Delusion: Beavers will FOREVER Blame Oregon for Their Decline
The “angery” rodent grad student forgot to use spellcheck…Charles, your pictures of their fans always make me laugh. Rodents can go pound sand. Even their football coach bailed out from that dumpster fire.

College Football's Top Ten Coaches (?)
The silly article time of year. My opinion about college football writers…their opinion only matters when they give your team accolades, or actually research an article, and actually write something that adds perspective into their subject matter.

Arizona State's Ra'Shaad Samples a Target for Oregon Running Backs Coach Job
Every time a new assistant gets hired the average age of our coaching staff drops. I am not familiar with the young man, but I am thinking the recruiting part sounds good. The younger coaches work hard to make a name for themselves. Locklyn may be a loss, but there are several highly qualified coaches that would love to have Oregon listed on the coaching resume. Btw…don’t let the door hit you in the (_) (_) on the way to buckeye land.

Is Oregon State Becoming Like a Bygone Beer?
Just watched a news report about $30 million being stolen. Perhaps the rodents AD should be on the list of suspects.

April 15th. Along With the IRS the Poachers Are Coming.
Unlimited free agency. Media revenue seemingly spiraling out of control brought attention to the absurd nature of the NCAA rules on compensating athletes. It helped inflate everyone’s salaries involved with collegiate athletics except the athlete. A head coaching salary escalates to $5 to $8 million per year, while athletes maybe get a better meal plan. The NCAA would constantly wave its rule book in everyone’s face to make sure it stayed that way. The NCAA’s track record of defending legal challenges tells us all we need to know about its rules…completely out of touch with reality. The good news is that only 22 players can be on the field during any given play. While how much they are compensated spirals out of control…the irony of it all.

Should Oregon Play Osu Every Season?
Perhaps we should just make peace with this tradition and move on. The rivalry had some meaning because of Conference standings. Take that away and there isn’t a rivalry.
