  1. Strongly recommend the twitter spaces link from deschutedduck. Fascinating. A couple players are almost livid how the letter is being presented by Canzano.
  2. That is also when we heard that his mother was experiencing health issues, apparently unconscious. That was probably weighing on his mind in addition to possible back channel inquiries from Miami.
  3. Trivia, the 35th Oregon football coach is 35 years old. That must be some type of omen, right?
  4. Great hire and I'm ecstatic he will be able to remain with his team for the remainder of the season. Oregon sets a high standard for ethics and integrity. I think that will resonate with recruits parents. Well done Mr. Mullens, and welcome Coach Lanning.
  5. Good read from a Tulsa World interview with Todd Graham (former ASU HC) regarding Dan Lanning, written when Lanning was a leading candidate for the OU position. “He’s a champion in every sense of the word,” Graham said. “He’s a phenomenal relationship builder. He’s probably the most passionate coach who has ever worked for me.” https://tulsaworld.com/sports/college/ou/dan-lanning-would-be-incredible-fit-and-hire-for-ou-says-todd-graham-who-introduced/article_54fbe734-53b6-11ec-a157-a7278020dbea.html
  6. Interesting the "news" has been up and public for an hour and a half yet none of the Oregon insiders are confirming. I hold out hope it isn't true.
  7. Question for the contract junkies. I believe the departures of both Mario and Moorhead were announced the same day. Moorhead's contract calls for him to get 70% of his salary if Cristobal leaves. The $700,000 question---is JM due the payment if he accepts another job before Mario officially leaves? Moorhead’s buyout should Oregon fire him without cause before Jan. 31, 2022 is 70 percent of his remaining salary or if Mario Cristobal were to leave, UO would owe Moorhead 70 percent of 12 months salary or the remainder of his contract term, whichever is less. There is an offset in either scenario.
  8. Sources tell FootballScoop that Marcel Yates is expected to join DeRuyter in leaving Eugene for Lubbock.
  9. Absolutely no offense intended to Sitaki nor do I think ethnicity played any part in asking him to interview. I didn't think that was implied. He is a quality coach located in the western US so of course Oregon sends out feelers. Sorry if anyone took offense.
  10. 2009 SESSION House Bill 3118 Requires public institutions of higher education to interview qualified minority candidate when hiring head coach or athletic director unless institution was unable to identify qualified minority candidate willing to interview for position.
  11. BYU, and to a certain extent Utah, both benefit from the LDS mission exemption on eligibility. Although the snippet pasted below is ten years old the fact that it often is men playing against boys remains. "BYU Football Spokesman Brett Pyne stated that for privacy purposes BYU does not publish the date of birth of their student-athletes. According to the Salt Lake City-based Deseret News, an astounding 76 players on this year’s BYU roster have completed LDS missions abroad, which last a minimum of two years and sometimes longer. Many of those players are redshirted for a year upon their return, thus by the time most of the BYU players enter their Junior or Senior seasons on the field, they are often 24-26 years old. To put this age differential into perspective, the 2011 season opener tells the tale. BYU visited Ole Miss on September 3rd, and came away with a 14-13 road victory. Ole Miss started 8 players that day that were 19 years old or younger. The five oldest players on the Ole Miss roster are 23 years old, and they are all seniors." Sitake should fulfill the minority interview requirement though.
  12. From Georgia he spent almost his entire life in the south, interesting he didn't join Mario in Miami.
  13. Their highest rated commit would rank 15th in the 2022 Oregon class.
  14. No reason to doubt the timeline. I assume he informed Mullens and PK since they started working on a revamped contract. With a two to three week lead time Oregon had time to update the list of potential replacements plus time to work on the budget. Certainly inquiries have been made to the top potential targets so finding a replacement may be quicker than I expected. Interest that California native Dave Aranda reportedly hasn't signed the contract extension offered in late November. Grist for the rumor mill?
  15. Aaron J. Fentress @AaronJFentress · 3m As I tweeted at 1:44 a.m., there is an Oregon Ducks team meeting this morning. It's going down at 7:45 am. Quote Tweet Aaron J. Fentress @AaronJFentress · 5h A little birdie just told me that Oregon football will hold a team meeting Monday morning. We shall see.
  16. In recruiting, when a player chooses another school, many fans react with a "we didn't want him anyway" attitude. While I have no doubt Phil Knight may be rightfully miffed I question if the contract offer was actually pulled. If true why hasn't Mario accepted the Miami offer already? He doesn't gain anything by waiting until the morning.
  17. Wasn't Wilcox leading the Boise State defense that took several cheap shots at Oregon players and injured Jeremiah Masoli, forcing him from the game?
  18. Peterson still works within the UW athletic dept. If he wanted back into coaching all he needed to do was say the word and the Huskies would have hired him in an instant. I would bet good money that UW asked him if he was interested.
  19. Just the headline and final paragraph, follow the link for details Source: The John Ruiz family is ready to launch ambitious plan to build UM a football stadium in Coral Gables Ruiz, the son of Cuban immigrants, is related to Oregon coach Mario Cristobal, through marriage.
  20. Don't know how to embed tweets so I just copied and pasted. Bottom line is we still don't know the decision, probably because it hasn't been made. Manny Diaz, in past 2 hours, has canceled today's trip to California for an in-home visit with an OL prospect, per Canesport's Matt Shodell. Staff had been recruiting this AM and early afternoon. Diaz awaiting word on his employment status while UM awaits the go-ahead from Mario. Chance Hudson @Coach__Chance · 17m Let me say I haven’t been told anything. Jus sending my appreciation to the family giving my support to whatever they decide. I hope he stays in which he’s gona be pissed at me for sending this early.
  21. I don't get the "hire Chris Petersen" line of thinking. He spurned Oregon once because UW was the job he wanted and was willing to wait. Two years ago he stepped down because coaching lost its allure. He still works at Washington and I'm certain he was asked if we wanted to return to coaching during their recent search. He could have written his own ticket. Why would he come to Oregon?
