  1. Howard and Jameis Winston can now both talk about how the game could have gone either way.
  2. I think the scariest thing about the Ducks in this game is that they were far from perfect and still won. They left many points on the field and the refs gifted the Buckeyes their first TD and still came away with the victory. I don't recall the Ducks winning a game of this magnitude without an A+ performance. With all the mistakes, this was B+ or A- at best and they still got it done. Unbelievable.

  4. UO in the BIG: 3-0. SUC, fuskies and UCLA combined: 3-8.
  5. So many unbelievable plays in one game and in a game of this magnitude. I just want to take a moment to reflect on a few. Basa's first quarter interception was beautiful and should have been reviewed. Harmon's steal of the ball on the next drive was Lawrence Taylor level domination. On the failed extra point, the tOSU player was sailing towards the end zone with the ball. The only thing that stopped him was Sadiq caught up to him and disrupted his path just enough for the other guys to make the stop and save a precious two points from being scored. Stewart dragging a defender an extra twenty five yards on a 69 yard reception. Yes. Oh yes! The Holden spitting disqualification, no man, Just no! Dodge ball onside kick, absolutely brilliant play call and execution. On the failed fourth and goal, I wonder if Gabriel didn't look at an open Tez because the route was too similar to the goal line interceptions from the previous week. Oregon's final drive gobbled up about four minutes of clock and forced tOSU to use two precious time outs. Lanning absolutely out coached Day on tOSU's final drive. Intentional penalty to steal a last play from the Buckeye's? That is next level coaching and saved the win. Autzen just put itself on the map as THE stadium to fear. What an awesome game.
  6. "I think the Autzen crowd noise is overrated." "What?" " I SAID I THINK THE AUTZEN CROWD NOISE IS OVERRATED! "
  7. David not only do we have a win streak against tOSU, it's been almost ten years since they have beaten OBD! Buckeye fans will need to get some tips from SUC and fuskie fans on how to both regularly lose while maintaining a sense of superiority to the Ducks!
  8. A little bit louder now. A little bit louder now! A Little Bit Louder Now!! A LITTLE BIT LOUDER NOW!!!
  9. What a day! Roster has me nervous but does that give one of these young 4/5 stars a chance to shine? We'll see.
  10. Another great topic Charles. Loving this build up to the game. Here's my two cents. I love being the underdog. It always elevates the stakes of the game for me and really brings back my core passion of being a Duck fan. Lanning's perception is on the line. Lanning vs Deboer and Smart: 0-4. Everybody else: 27-1. It's a BIG Battle. If tOSU wins order has been restored to the conference and the pecking order remains intact. Ducks win and they own the conference and after just three games! The hornet's nest has been kicked. Buckeye fans have challenged Autzen to get loud. They will deliver!
  11. There’s a zero percent chance the tOSU players will get rattled? Now WAAAAAAIT a minute!
  12. Great topic. I think there are so many layers to the college sports riddle, we need to sit down and focus on what even is the elephant in the room. At some point I think college sports will need to be defined by congress. It seems to me that there are three levels of sports. One: Recreational activities. This would include gymnastics, swimming and wrestling. These are sports that are more about the athletic experience for the student rather than the fan experience. These sports don't come close to making money. Two: Mid level Sports. These include track, baseball/ softball volleyball. These sports have fans and can generate some revenue but usually lose money for the school. Three: Money makers. This would pretty much be football and basketball. generally either bring in money or at least break even. It seems to me that sports that generate revenue are more of a business and need to be treated as such. Congress should address this like it does with all other businesses and establish guidelines that balance the freedom players have to make their own life choices and the needs universities/ conferences have to keep the whole than functional. Without any clear guidelines, players have all the power. They can collect massive amounts of NIL without any requirement to even play a down because NIL isn't a check made out to a student by a university to play for them. I would defer to our great OBDF legal mind Jon J to explain what can and can't work but I'd think congress could help formalize the process of signing to participate in a college athletic program with stipulations that need to be met to receive the benefits of participation. It seems to me that limiting transfers for scholarship athletes could be baked into contacts at the national level. I hope something is done soon on the national level to address this because as of now, there are just too many ways for players to game the system for their own benefit at the expense of the university that's just trying to field a team every year.
  13. Bravo David great topic and article I have a couple thoughts on rules and refs. First I think targeting to should be a penalty with multiple levels. Sometimes by the letter of the law a player may commit accidental targeting do to how the offensive player positions himself before impact. I think to eject a player from the game and suspend them into the next game should have some sort of intent to harm associated with it. It seems to me that the term targeting by definition should require malicious intent. Replay should have video specialist assisting the refs in finding out key information ASAP. How long would it take for a trained professional to find the best camera angles to focus on if viewing them all together on one monitor? Seems like thirty seconds should be enough to figure that out. After that freezing and zooming in should be done in another thirty seconds max. After that, syncing multiple angles to find answers to more complex plays may take up to a minute more. That would be two minutes max to find information that would overturn a call. This could be done either at the game or remotely from a central location.
  14. What a great thread! I'm more of a leave it all in the stands kind of guy with a couple days of recovery required. I'll need to take some notes!
  15. One of the loudest stadiums in the country and what's the song used to get the crowd to take it to the next level? Shout!
  16. My guess is the viewership breakdown is something like this: 25% Duck fans, 25% MSU fans, 25% Duck curious football fans, 25% hate watching SUC fans.
  17. They laughed at the Ducks for having to settle on an unproven D coordinator but now half their boards want to replace Riley with their currant D coordinator. Can't make this stuff up. Glad we don't have to!
  18. How long until Beavis stops playing up a UO rivalry and start playing up being Oregon’s other team. I could see myself rooting for them or going to a game in that rooting for your kid in peewee ball type of way.
  19. Awesome post Charles. Has Lanning secretly rebuild his Georgia D? Rewinding my memory back to the BSU game, the D actually came out of halftime firing on all cylinders. I think they got three consecutive three and outs. It was only when fumble fest happened that BSU woke back up for a 14-0 momentum change and bloat up the D stats in the wrong direction. Since then, only late game downs have been negative. The halftime scores have been looking rather UGA like the last three weeks. The progress of the O line makes me think of Godzilla slipping on a banana peal. We all have a good laugh while he falls on his butt but then he gets back up and continues stomping toward us. Don't think the BIG is laughing at our o line now. Line positions that were extreme question marks earlier are now getting great PFF grades. A good trend. My main concern is self inflicted momentum swings. Two fumbles on two consecutive series almost cost them the BSU game. Leaving 14 points on the one yard line against MSU makes this a concerning trend. We all know that the margin for error is much smaller than that in the big boy games. They seem to have cleaned up the penalty issue. Hopefully they get turnovers under control as well.
  20. The SUC board today should be required viewing! Topics include SUC being 11-9 in last 20 games and being 2-6 in last 8 conference games and of course the reality of now being unranked. Coach Riley not being the guy also seems to be a reoccurring theme.
  21. Nice post David. One amendment I'd make is that I think Miami's toughest opponent they'll face is Mario. He'll find an L that the ref's can't hide.
  22. I'd say BSU losing on the road to No. 3 UO on the last play of the game looks better than Miami's seven minute review reversing a game losing TD and surviving Cal Couging it. I think what saves Mario's bacon in the polls this week is that everybody behind him 9-11 all lost badly. So far it looks to me like the ref's are doing the best prop up job for Mario I've seen since A Weekend at Bernie's.
