No Ducks Game, but A Lot of Good Games On Today
Nice post David. One amendment I'd make is that I think Miami's toughest opponent they'll face is Mario. He'll find an L that the ref's can't hide.

No Ducks Game, but A Lot of Good Games On Today
I'd say BSU losing on the road to No. 3 UO on the last play of the game looks better than Miami's seven minute review reversing a game losing TD and surviving Cal Couging it. I think what saves Mario's bacon in the polls this week is that everybody behind him 9-11 all lost badly. So far it looks to me like the ref's are doing the best prop up job for Mario I've seen since A Weekend at Bernie's.

Ducks Move to No. 3 in Both Polls
Five one loss SEC teams still in the top ten! I bet none of them would want to play #22 Boise St on any field.

Laziest Reporting Ever
I love how that play was so bad, it also sent the ref falling backwards!

Ducks SHOULD Jump in Polls?
Rankings logic 1: SEC of course 2: Next best SEC 3: Best BIG 4: Lame excuse for another SEC 5: Best SEC Team with one loss to #1 or #2 or #4

Razorbacks in the red zone early against Tennessee. Is it too much to ask for another SEC upset? No. No it's not.

ESPN GameDay Coming to Oregon Next Week!
The saddest part of conference realignment may be the breakup of Lee Corso and the Duck. They made such a great pair.

Is Tez Johnson THAT Good?
It almost seems like OBD has been doing just enough to create three score separation then rely on the D to keep the game in control. The way the offense almost takes a Marioesque vanilla approach to the rest of the game has me feeling that they want to save the dagger plays for another day. I think we may see an unlocked playbook next week and they pull the cover off and unveil the Stewart deep threat and a few other surprises. "It's third and twelve and wait a minute, forth sting QB Moga has entered the game at running back along side third string tide end Sadiq. What in the world is going on here?"

The best game in the new Pac Whatever looks to be #21 Boise St vs Utah St.

Is Tez Johnson THAT Good?
I think the biggest reason the Ducks have for constantly targeting Tez is that he is a legit threat to take it to the house on any given play. He is closest thing to DAT since DAT. Also, because of the constant TD threat he is, I think defenders are unsure on how to defend him. Do you play him tight and aggressive and risk fatal separation a route? Do you play him loose and allow him to catch an easy 5-10 yarder and have him YAC you to death? I love the near unsolvable problem he provides to the other team. Hope that problem remains unsolved next week.

When the new rankings come out, watch #9 Mizzo tumble all the way down to #10 as #24 ATM takes their place at #9.

MSU Played As Expected...
Give Smith a couple years and MSU will be a problem. If the new BIG is going to be as legit as the new SEC, teams 4-8 they need to step up and be legit top 25ish teams. Iowa, Wisky, MSU and SUC are going to need to step it up or the SEC will continue to dominate the rankings then will dominate the playoff rankings then dominate the media deal numbers.

So Do We Want Ohio St. Coming in Dominant?
I think the tOSU game is going to come down to limiting penalties and turnovers. A first quarter like last night and OBD will fall behind and it's game over. Play like the second quarter and I think they have a fourth quarter lead and will be in position to seal the deal. With that said, I want tOSU showing up next week in top form. To be the best you have to beat the best playing their best. I'd take an asterisk victory but I want an A game vs A game W.

Oregon Lines Up for BIG Introduction
I think this game really introduced OBD's new BIG conference rivals to their much talk about O and D lines. While last week was the official first Duck BIG game, this week was our introduction to the old school BIG. Both lines absolutely man handled their opposition easily all night long. The MSU message boards are blown away by how dominant the Ducks were in the trenches. Nobody takes UCLA seriously as a big school but MSU while going through a down turn, is still supposed to be respectable in the trenches yet got destroyed like an FCS team. I think BIG fans were expecting the Ducks to be introduced to the BIG like SUC was. All flash but no substance up front. Two horrible first half goal line turn overs kept the score from being 35-0 but the stats accumulated up to that point reflected that level of beat down. That sound you heard last night as the game ended was the collective gulp of millions of football fans about two thousand miles away. Be afraid BIG fans. Be very afraid.

Which Has More Upside Left: Offense or Defense?
Without the costly turnovers, OBD routs Boise St and obliterates MSU. So far, this season has been like watching the guy in Fight Club fighting himself (sorry for the spoiler!). So far almost halfway through the season, the only thing that has slowed down the offense has been their own turnovers and penalties. Each week they seem to be getting things more figured out and the separation between them and their opponents keeps widening. I like that trend.

The Answers I’m Watching for With the 2024 Ducks
I think one of the problems OBD have been facing so far is just figuring out a solid rotation so the guys on the field can get used to each other. I think the O line issues while sorting out personnel were obvious for everyone to see. I think the figuring out linebacker and DB personnel has taking a little longer than expected as potential starters had to be replaced early do to injuries. In the end this may be a good thing as the players have been given the chance to show they belong on the field and the different combos have given the coaches enough tape to see which ones work best. The frustration of watching the team have less than anticipated results should turn into confidence that the team can keep it's composer in a crises when it counts. If the tOSU game comes down to the wire, the closer than we wanted Idaho and BSU finishes will be huge experience assets the Buckeyes won't have. As a fan I actually am finding the close games entertaining and the victories feel more earned than simply expected. I remember those deadly Stanford teams that would find themselves in 4th quarter nail biters not only against top ten Duck teams but also with bottom feeders. This team may end up being more like those teams than the blow out by halftime teams of the Mariota years.

Good News Regarding Ferguson
Seemed like a concussion protocol situation to me at the time. Good news!
