Sad, but we had to. Right now it's just about living to fight another day. We're getting laughed at right now. -

Sadly, if we don't punch it in on this third down play, I think we need to take the three points. Right now, I'm just looking to protect the W and live to fight another day. -

And we're 60% on our third down conversions. What a weird game. -

I've got to say... I didn't realize Idaho was a Top-10 team. -

I just looked and 296 first half yards surprised me. Very impressive. Dillion is 23-27, 245 yards, 1 TD. Highly impressive. -

"First game jitters" I'll buy that line of thinking if we come out in the second half and play ball. -

What a seriously unexpected, underwhelming, and unimpressive 1st half. Scary that we're playing Idaho and we look like this. Hopefully, the second half will look like the team we were expecting. -
What is YOUR Mario Cristobal Philosophy?

Yeah... we got so screwed on that. While Nebraska went on to be a pathetic joke in that game and got throttled. -
What is YOUR Mario Cristobal Philosophy?
Desert Duck replied to Desert Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I will never-ever forget the first play that he called as Oregon's head coach. San Antonio Bowl, and BEFORE the game had even started, dude calls a time out. Both of my sons turned to me and in unison grunted, "Uh-Oh." Truer grunting had never been spoken. -

Today, Georgia momentarily gave me PTSD flashbacks to a 49-3 day not that long ago. -
Watching Other FBS Games This Week: Thoughts?
Desert Duck replied to kirklandduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If I was an OU fan, while I like the final score last night, I'd be a bit concerned about only converting 1-12 third downs. Against a real team that doesn't turnover the ball 6 times, it will be interesting to see how they do. -
I texted the following to my adult sons earlier today: "So... #19 Miami plays @ unranked Florida today at 12:30 (on ABC). Guys - I'm having a bit of a personal dilemma as I'm wondering if the following makes me a very small and/or spiteful person: I 100% root for Mario & Miami to lose every game he coaches. His team winning or losing has absolutely no impact whatsoever on my life. But I just find such joy every time he loses. His losing is only made better when he makes decisions that directly cause his team to lose. Thus, the dilemma and the question: Is this wrong? This may be an abstruse philosophical question for the ages . Or, perhaps, I am just simply a spiteful man. Regardless, GO DUCKS!"

Watching Other FBS Games This Week: Thoughts?
Desert Duck replied to kirklandduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
As you point out, they still look lethal. And even with their top 2 RBs out, their rushing game still looks amazing. 165 yards - Avg 6.3 per carry - 7 guys getting a touch. I'm not sure Geogia has 2nd & 3rd string players. I think they just have "other studs." -

Wow... great call on this one. I think Georgia might be decent this year -
The Alabama scheduling model has worked quite well for them. No need to reinvent a winning formula.

I got to watch Ty several times in high school and he was truly phenomenal. He has a reputation of being a good kid too. I wish him well.

Deion Declares: "No Wonder OBD Did So Well Last Year"
Desert Duck replied to criticalduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Good night... will Deion ever just shut his yap (rhetorical question). That fake Oregon punt from way deep in our own territory was beyond awesome. The look on the Buff faces was priceless. If they hadn't realized by then that it was going to be one nasty, mean, long afternoon, they quickly found out on that perfectly executed 4th down fake. -
It’s Time for Duck Fans to Yell-O

I love going to games at Autzen. We are loud and proud. But, if you get a chance, you really need to travel to a game at one of the traditional Big10 schools. I've only been to one, Oregon @ Wisconsin, and I will never forget it. The experience is/was amazing, and their traditions are unlike any other game that I have ever been to. We do a lot of things very well, but there's always room for improvement. -
Herbstreit and Howard Pick Oregon As National Champs
Desert Duck replied to Ktmguy2018's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
They certainly are in no way to be taken lightly. As horrendous as that Smurf Turf looks, it in no way translates to the football team that plays on it. But I don't think for a minute that OBD will underestimate BSU -- and likely neither do you. And I'm damn glad that we are playing them at home. College football isn't like the NFL in that anytime, on any given Sunday, any team can win. For instance, obviously, Idaho basically has about a zero chance of winning this Saturday. But BSU, as you point out above, is returning all 11 defensive starters (and as Charles pointed out, we return 10), which will likely make this an interesting game and excellent early season test. I do know this much: It's wayyy past time to end their undefeated record against Oregon. And I say, let's win this one and never-ever schedule BSU again -

That's very true, Annie. I think much of the reason for that is that we had lots and lots and lots of room to spread out. I'm guessing each fan had an average of about 1/8 acre . -

It’s Time for Duck Fans to Yell-O
Desert Duck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Great comments. And given that you've been a Duck fan for 4 decades, as Charles will tell you, you meet the 39-year fan minimum requirement . And Oregon has the dough to spend on 60,000 cheap neon yellow tee-shirts (@ around $7 bucks a pop) for a big game. Neon Yellow just looks awesome. -
Pardon me, but I like stats and numbers, so I dug up this mostly “Cliff Claven-esque” 2024 NFL QB info, mainly because Oregon was rather close to having 3 NFL starting QBs this week. College Team w/ Most Starting NFL QBs (school determined as where player ended their college career): · Oregon: 2 (we were actually close to having 3, had Marcus stayed healthy) · Plus six other schools also with 2: Pretty much the usual suspects – Bama, OU, USC, Clemson, LSU, & the outlier… Cal) Conference w/ Most Starting QBs (school determined as where player ended their college career): · SEC - 11 · PAC - 7 · ACC - 5 · B12 – 3 · MW – 3 I thought it was nice to see that Oregon, and the former PAC12, are still well-represented. Oddly, however, not by any Beavers. I’m sure that my most valuable and life changing information above will be extremely inspiring and beneficial to you all . (Btw - I think I got this information right, but if not, I take no responsibility whatsoever ) GO DUCKS!
