  1. 2 TDs & no 3rd down conversions. You don't see that happen very often. It would be nice to see an actual sustained drive.
  2. Sorry... meant 11 to go in the second. Regardless, it's beyond horrendous. Really stunning.
  3. 3 sacks on DG and there is more than 11 minutes to go in the first. Holy cow.
  4. Nebraska 28-0 at halftime. Rumor is that Nebraska has been cheating and stealing signals.
  5. I really hope OBD saw or heard what happened to the Irish.
  6. And Ducks... Be all that the kool-aid that I drank said you could/would be
  7. What a convoluted mess it has become to watch college football.
  8. The more I think I know about football, the more I realize how incredibly little I actually know about the game. The deeper I try to get into it, the more I realize that it is something akin to playing 5D chess... if there is such a thing. This is why when we had the extreme privilege of having unicorn-rare, 'generational,' back-to-back, 1st round NFL QBs like Herbert and Nix, and watching how quickly their brains processed what was going on, and then successfully picking apart the defense, just blows my mind. I think a lot of us need to pause and recognize how unicorn-rare it is to have one generational QB like this... let alone to have two back-to-back. And if our o-line can do their jobs, I think DG has the potential to be another great Oregon QB.
  9. Wow Charles. What a breakdown. For someone like me who is not anywhere near as knowledgeable of the offensive line as I'd like to be, your review is so valuable. Frankly, I'm still very perplexed by the Idaho game that I don't really know what to think, other than the fact that our O-line was atrocious. As I mentioned previously, statistically, we absolutely dominated them in every key category (on 3rd down plays they were only 2-12, while we converted 7-16... 44%). I think most people realize, and would argue, that the center position is one of the Top-5 most critical positions in football. To have lost the best center in CFB to the draft is a huge hole to replace. But, it's not like everyone and their mother didn't know it was coming. The bottom line for me is that BSU could not be coming to town at a better time in order to tell us if we will likely be a Top-10 team this season. I think it is the perfect test at just the right time. This is also when I'm glad that I'm not a betting man, because I have absolutely no idea what kind of outcome to expect. And with all that being said, GO DUCKS!
  10. Yeah... it was just the sun. That's the ticket!
  11. Wisdom like this only comes from direct experience, and a willingness to be coachable. Well played, my friend. Well played.
  12. So suddenly, USC fans want to whine about the ranking system. Cry me a river.
  13. He has a very good take. Either our O-line does a quick 180° turn come Saturday, or we're in a heap of trouble.
  14. After all of these decades later, this still just cracks me up.
  15. In the past 5 years, after tossing out last years Portland State game, we haven't exactly had strong opening season games. We lost 2 of these games (okay... got slaughtered in one of them), beat Fresno State by a TD, and reasonably handled Stanford. Right now, I am seriously very grateful that we did not open the season against BSU. I'm afraid we'd be 0-4 against them if we had. To me, it was really an odd game, and this is quite apparent when you look at the team stats. OBD dominated them across the board, including a 3rd down conversion rate of nearly 50%. Most of you guys know a lot more than about the game than me, but it seems to me like a lot of the issues are quite fixable. The great thing is that this Saturday provides OBD the opportunity to set the record straight, while also exercising our 0-3 BSU record at the same time. We shall find out in 5 days if the off-season kool-aid was worth drinking.
  16. One other positive about last Saturday is that we didn't open up against BSU. Hopefully, the punch OBD took from Idaho was the wakeup call we needed. After once again drinking the kool-aid, I sure hope this is the case.
  17. After Saturday's performance, I think that is generous. But hopefully, we'll see a different team against BSU.
  18. I am not a fan of plagiarism, but I'm going to steal this
  19. I'm just a very small and spiteful man. Hopefully, I can one day do better.
  20. 3 punts for the game is pretty reasonable.
  21. Check down or not, not too shabby for his first game.
  22. I have no idea what kind of team we actually have. But here is what I do know: Dillon Gabriel is a monster. 40/47 - 85% pass completion - 372 yards - 2 TDs - 0 picks
  23. #11 Idaho is giving us a good run for our money.
  24. This is really a bizarre game. If you take a look at the stats, we have absolutely dominated them in all key categories. But I suppose, that is why the game is actually played on the field.
