  1. I'm sorry, but what a bizarre subject to have! Can we just put our arms around this team, these coaches and all of the Oregon Duck fans across the country and enjoy everything that is happening right now?
  2. Glad to see we are at #8. Watching Clemson a few times now, they are not a Top 5 team! I keep reading many articles about the Ducks that refer to the opening game. When I look back there are many things I think of and wrote about after that game. We all know about the mistakes, brand new Coaching Staff and many players starting for the first time. We actually moved the ball on offense and the defense really hadn't gotten the message yet from the Coaches about tackling and coverage! Fast forward and as I've mentioned last week and the week following the first game of the season, we are improving each and every week and when we finish the game with the Beavers, I still believe we will be 11-1. Hopefully we get the chance to play Georgia again! Go mighty Ducks!!!
  3. I would say that this group of Duck players have completely bought in to the process to get better. What I've observed is that each week we are getting better in different areas! With that said, our best football I believe is still in front of us! I will also say again, when we play the Beavers in the Battle of the Valley, our Ducks will be 11-1, probably in the Top 6 when it actually matters and prepared to win the Pac-12 Championship! Isn't it nice to dream? Go Ducks, beat those Bruins!!!!
  4. Can you elaborate Charles? Kind of leaving us hanging there with that statement! Coach has made us a top program in the Nation!
  5. The week after the Bulldog game I mentioned that I believed that the Ducks would be 11-1 after the Battle in the Neighborhood! I missed on their Beaver opponent, I think I had them at 11-1 after that game. Sticking with my prediction for our Ducks and after they win the Pac-12 Championship game they will be selected for the playoffs! Go Ducks!!!
  6. After seeing his quarterback without the straight jacket on the final 2 minutes of the half, maybe his game plan will change?
  7. Here is my two cents! I'm focused on the Coaching Staff and the Veteran players getting the team to realize that they have the opportunity to be a Top 4 team if they change their game day and probably practice days approach. You play on game day the way you practice. It's not just a saying, it's a fact. Everything thing that has been mentioned about the current day players is probably true, but someone needs to get the players attention. Simply put, players needs to be reminded that you win and lose as a group, no one wins or loses a game by themselves. I would love to see all of the celebration and chest thumping go away. Watching us make a great play and then be totally out of position the next play because we spent our time celebrating will be what keeps this team from being in the final 4. It is time to have a heart to heart with the whole team. You want to make it to the NFL, play as a team and make your priority being ready to play each and every play. Those who evaluate talent are not impressed by chest thumping and individual glory. I've mixed up this thread with others threads that have been discussed, but I see a Duck team that could be great, but we won't see it happen unless the group as a whole takes a hard right turn and decides team first and team only! If that happens the sky is literally the only limit! We can catch that lightning in the bottle, let's see it start Saturday in Tucson! Thanks for indulging me in some of my thoughts. Go Ducks!!!!
  8. I said in a post last week that when we are 11-1 or 12-1 all of us will be very happy! Seems to be almost too much week to week analysis for me! My family and I really enjoyed being at Autzen and the game Saturday night.
  9. When our Oregon Ducks are 11-1 or 12-1 let's all look back at this past week and wonder why all the negative thoughts. This is going to be a good team, how about we give them a break, both players and Coaches? Our whole family will be at the game Saturday night and can't wait to see the team play! Enjoy the season everyone, See you Saturday!
  10. Sabrina is just scratching the surface of what she is going to do! That pass was fantastic, but wait until she gets the time with her centers and they start running multiple pick and rolls. The 3 point shooters will be spotting up and the centers will be rolling hard to the hoop. Sabrina will be the best point guard in the WNBA in short order! Nothing easy about the pass she made, she just makes it look easy.
  11. Hi Brooke, I hope that you read the posts on the fishduck forum! Glad you are exercising your right to put your name in the portal. Please don't wait to long to remove your name from said portal. You and Stevie can lead this team to the Women's College World Series! Next year is going to be a unbelievable year to be a Duck. Teams that can and I believe will win championships: Football, Volleyball, Basketball/Women's and Men's, Track and Field/Men's and Women's, Baseball and last but not least Softball! You Brooke are the key piece to the puzzle for the Lady Ducks Softball season, so please don't make all of the Duck fans wait to long before announcing your return to the Jane! Looking forward to watching you and your teammates next season! Go Ducks!!!!
  12. I believe that Will is going to have a great year leading our Ducks to the Final 4. Who knows what Dior is thinking now that Will is returning? I'm personally neither happy or sad that Dior decommitted, but it is interesting how he must view his skills and abilities! If he will actually be a one and done, I think you could make the case that he believes he will be drafted behind Will. He must not think that he would be playing in front of Will with the Ducks! So with those thoughts I think it's okay for Duck fans to feel that him decommitting is really the best thing for the program. We want players who embrace competition, not run from it! Just my thoughts!
  13. Great news about Quincy and yes the absolute best thing for Will is to return as one of the leaders of our team! His stock will only improve with the team making a major run at a National Championship!
  14. I really love the program that Coach Lombardi has developed here at Oregon! I also know you can only tell so much about a team when you are on the outside watching games and not on the inside seeing the day to day! With that said, happy trails to the ones leaving the program and we are really looking forward to the team coming back including what will certainly be a great group of new recruits. Our pitching staff next year I believe will be as good as any in the Nation! Stevie showed her potential and we all know how good Brooke is. Would love to see a really good lefty added to the group, but they are going to be awesome! Lots of very talented position players and I for one can't wait to see them play next year! Go Lady Ducks!!!
  15. First and probably most important we have one of the best Coaches around! Coach Lombardi will make whatever adjustments need to be made so that the Ladies can still be highly competitive this season! Second for me is yes it will be great to get our outstanding Lefty Brooke Yanez back next season. Paired with Stevie Hansen after the way she has came along, watch out Pac-12! I can still see M.Klietherms being a solid part of the staff, especially after her more bulldog approach on Sunday, some of Stevie seemed to rub off on her! After those three it would be great to get a new top line recruit for next season!
  16. Thanks Franck, happy trails to you big fella! Can't blame you for looking elsewhere as the team can't play 4 big guys and it looks like you would be #4. How does the old song go, don't worry, be happy! The Ducks will be fine, if not outstanding. Nate, N'Faly, and our new recruit Kel' el will be a handful for everyone! Nate is a smart young man and knows what he needs to do to be a big time player. N'Faly played much better late in the year when he got in better shape and felt comfortable with the knee. He knows he is in the best place he can be for his future. With all of the other very good new recruits coming in, best case Will decides to stay put! Ducks will be more than fine, don't forget we have one of the best Coaches and Coaching staffs in the Nation! Go Ducks!!!
  17. Thanks so much for letting everyone know where you are at Te-Hina. We are all looking forward to watching you and your teammates next season! I believe with the work and dedication that I'm sure will be there, next season can become a Championship year!
  18. I think Dan Ionescu said it as well as it could be stated, many players that weren't ready for the real world of high level college basketball! I would like to add some additional thoughts as it relates to the three 5 stars that are leaving, I honestly think that the complete star rating needs to be revamped given their individual talents. Appreciate what those Ladies tried to bring to our Lady Ducks, but it wasn't 5 star talent. Loved Kylies passion and hustle, Maddie also worked hard and could defend. The one who was the biggest disappointment too me is Sydney, if she wasn't hitting her shot Coach had to sit her down, had literally 1 gear and it wasn't fast, no defense and a once in a blue moon rebound! Hopefully for their sake they find teams that can use their talents! Returning team and incoming recruits, get ready to dedicate yourselves to playing Lady Ducks basketball and prepare in this off-season to winning many future championships!
  19. I am really not surprised! Our thanks to all three of the young ladies! Coach Graves I'm sure has a great plan. Hopefully Sedona will get her legs healthy and really shine like the player everyone thought she can be! Along with Te-Hina and Endyia, I hope Maddie stays put. Looking at a healthy Taylor Bigby along with Phillipina understanding how to dominate with her size will more than make up for the two transfers. Great group of young players coming in to go with the other strong players that will be returning, should put the Lady Ducks right in the thick of a very strong Pac-12! Bottom line for me is getting one or two players to step up as true leaders. There comes a time that every teams ceiling is only reached with strong player leadership. I can't wait to see how this new team comes together! I'm betting they will be great!
  20. I just read this morning that Nyara hasn't made her decision about next year yet. Nyara in my opinion needs the additional year of development and leadership, while going injury free! There are many more good reasons why she would be better off coming back then she has too go to the WNBA. Now that we have NIL, the money shouldn't be an issue! Wished I knew more about her relationship with Coach Graves, seems like he is supporting her leaving instead of staying? Knowing he has several bigs on the roster and some really good ones coming in, makes you wonder what is really going on?
  21. My understanding is that she has made the decision to leave for the WNBA draft. The last draft assessment I saw a week ago had her as high as a number 5 pick. I guess I was probably a little too negative about Nyara. I was hoping after this season, she would come back next year and maybe be a favorite for National player of the year and help lead her team to a National Championship. One of the reasons that I thought she would come back is the advantage of the new NIL that would be better for her financially at Oregon than a rookie contract with the WNBA. Having a completely healthy season would also help her draft standing with GM's in the Pro's.
  22. Congratulations to Nyara! I have to be honest about how I feel about Nyara. She has been on scholarship for almost 4 years now and has played less than 2 of those years. It seems like when things aren't going good, that limp shows up. A player planning on going to the WNBA, you would think would need to convince the WNBA Teams that she is physically okay? I want her to do well, but I've struggled with her commitment to the Oregon Lady Ducks! A lot of things didn't go well against Utah for the team, but I still can't believe that a player that would be selected to the all tournament team would, with 4 fouls try to block a NBA almost distance 3 pointer. We all know what happened next, Coach Graves right or wrong made some gesture or something and got the technical foul. Five free-throws later plus the ball, Utah went from reeling after losing their lead, to putting the game away. Just can't believe that with those late game decisions, we went from almost certainly to be a first round host to who knows what? I've waited 3 days to write this and ironically my view of things hasn't changed! As far as Tournament All Conference goes, I think numbers don't begin to tell the story! I would have selected Sedona over Nyara in a heart beat! I know the player's are frustrated and we need a reset We also need to have someone step up on the team to lead this young group and I for one don't think it's Nyara She appears to have a less than good attitude when things get tough. If you have noticed when Coach Graves takes her out of games when she isn't playing well, he doesn't even try to talk to her. Start working with Philly, Kylie and look forward to the other post players coming in and hope that Sedona can get the leg injuries totally healed up by next season! Really upbeat on my part and I'm sorry about that, but this group with good player leadership could be a Final 4 team.
  23. I completely believe in Coach Altman and his staff! It's been my experience that you are much more likely to win with a good team versus good to great players! I think this team wants to play together, but too many of the players probably have not been Coached in the past to put team first! Coach has been trying all season long! Lastly I would also say you need one or two players who know how to take over late in games and we haven't consistently had that! That kind of leadership takes sometime in most cases, and with so many new players, the roles have been hard to establish!
  24. Lots of very smart people in the forum, but I have a different belief from most who have posted about Chip! Look at the former players he brought in during his time as both OC and HC! He understands what works and will make going to Autzen enjoyable again. Mario seems like a great guy, but I didn't enjoy all of the sayings and hype that was followed up by what seemed like less discipline than I can ever remember by his players at the most critical time of games. I believe Coach Cristobal will end up really wishing he was still at Oregon even though Miami is his hometown! Chip will return us to the highest level of College Football! Go Ducks
