Apart from the USC aspect, it is a shame that the game time will change. The sunset part was always great, both in person and on TV.

Before I opened this thread I hoped that he was picking anOhio State, on account of him being a hack and all. Now I’m worried. Not really.

There is certainly a Belichick flavor to this, and I mean that in the best possible sense.

Y’all didn’t believe me. anOhio State fans are the most obnoxious fan base in CFB. Way worse than the Huskies and Trojans. Those fans are annoyingly smug; anOhio State are just plain nasty. Just remember, anOhio State never loses. They either win or the other team cheated. I guess Chip added the category of “they really didn’t beat us.”

All I know is that if this had all taken place 30 years ago, USC, UCLA, UW and probably Stanford would have gone to the Big 10, and we would have been relegated to the fringes along with the Beavers. It wouldn’t have felt good. I understand that have much more empathy for OSU than most others on this site. I just don’t think we should lose that perspective.

My sense is that it will be a good win, but BSU will cover. Shore up some areas of concern, get the win and keep developing this team.

We get a pass on the Idaho game. It’s just too early, and anyone can have a mediocre day. It’s also Labor Day weekend so most of the important talking heads are off until tomorrow. This Saturday will be entirely different. Win big, barely win, or (gulp) lose, it won’t be quiet at all. Any and all scenarios will elicit a lot of opinions. I remember the days when no one outside of Oregon talked about the Ducks. We’re a national program now, with all that comes with it.

True. Oregon plays one Big Sky and two Mountain West level (in reality that’s what OSU and WSU are at this point) and UW plays two Big Sky and one Mountain West level. So technically we play the more difficult schedule of the two. I just don’t like us playing Big Sky or that level schools at all.

Re the SEC scheduling philosophy - We played Idaho, so we really can’t throw stones in terms of weak scheduling.

I’m not a fan of playing the Idahos and Portland States of the world. I don’t think it benefits us. We should play out of conference opponents no lower than Mountain West level. Just my two cents.

I may be remembering incorrectly, but I recall that sentiment was posted here regarding USC and UCLA. “They’ll get tired of the travel and will be back.” Then we joined USC and UCLA out the door. I guess you just never know how things will turn out. I don’t think any of us are going back.

Of all the top tier QBs in this draft, I think Bo is the biggest wildcard. I can see him being a starter for a lot of years, and I can also see him being a fringe player that never does much. Both are at play. It really depends on where he lands. I am still of the opinion that Joey could have had an HOA career but he ended up at the clown show that was Detroit.

You do not want a Suckeye on your premises. They are without question the most hateful fan base I’ve ever been around.

They have paid absolutely no penalty for this strategy. Far from it, it has paid off handsomely. Why would they change now?

I’m going to continue to be the contrarian here on this topic. I can’t help but think that if the only members that left the conference had been the two LA schools, and they had tried to make a claim on the funds, OBD and the other 9 would have told them to pound sand. “You left. You gave up your right to demand anything.” I believe that would have been our attitude toward the LA schools. It would have been mine. Can anyone on this board make an argument that this would not have been our stance? And if so, why do we begrudge OSU and WSU of this same argument?

I have only one addition/correction: It’s anOSU. That is all.
