  1. I'm starting to change my mind about the Holiday Bowl. I'm starting to think it is the 2nd best bowl game that the Pac 12 automatically go to besides the Rose Bowl. I originally thought it was the Sun Bowl but something about the Holiday Bowl seems pretty epic now. I don't really like the Alamo Bowl.
  2. I've been back and forth on Ty Thompson and right now I feel like I've seen enough of him. At first, I thought people were overrating him however when Anthony Brown showed that he threw the ball like a running back I wanted to see what Ty Thompson had because he seemed like a more natural thrower. However, Cristobal isn't a complete idiot there were reasons why he wasn't in the game when the starting qb was a senior that could barely throw. It is because Ty Thompson is very jittery and plays scared out there. Even though Anthony Brown can't thrown he is confident in his ability to run and make key pitches etc. Ty Thompson gets the running backs shaky. I saw it in that Utah game Ty didn't do anything wrong, but the other guy was shaky because he was anticipating something bad and fumbled the ball. Maybe he recovers from this and proves me and Cristobal wrong.
  3. I would really like 8 conference games. The thing is I actually feel North Carolina is the perfect team to schedule in the preseason. They are a good team, but Oregon has more talent across the board. In the early season I don't see Oregon underestimating them either because they are a top 3 ACC team. While I'm worried in this bowl game that Oregon is going to underestimate North Carolina. SEC schools don't get criticized but Clemson and the Big 12 schools do but still make the playoffs. I think the Pac 12 should look at the ACC and question why a conference with less talent has made the playoffs more times. Even in 1996 it seemed way harder for ASU to go undefeated than Florida St.
  4. I can't help but blame some of Oregon's problems on scheduling. It should be the reverse, play teams like North Carolina in the preseason so you can take on the big dogs in the Bowl games. I think scheduling Georgia and even Ohio State last year was a big mistake by the people who make schedules. I don't see Michigan going out of their way to play Alabama and the last time they did was with Denard Robinson and they went 8-4.
  5. I feel like that is just more bad luck to screw with anyone that wanted to see our future qbs. Although personally I'm glad they made it a little respectable because I don't like being stomped by Oklahoma. I was at that elite 8 game when Oklahoma just trashed Oregon and that wasn't fun.
  6. The one good thing is that normally after a performance like this I want the coaches gone and then I realize I might of overreacted. This time I can say I want the coaches gone and they are actually going to be gone next year.
  7. I agree they are the SEC version of us and unlike us that struggles with Stanford sometimes, Georgia has major problems with Alabama.
  8. I don't buy this argument because Anthony Brown stunk it up against Stony Brook and when Ty Thompson came in the game it became way easier to score and Stony Brook felt like Stony Brook. Had AB played that whole game Oregon might have only beat Stony Brook by a few points. Also, Butterfield outplayed Brown in the Spring Game.
  9. I don't get why the AD allowed Moorehead to continue to coach. This embarrassing for the Duck's.
  10. I was thinking it was going to be similar to when USC beat Ohio State but Oregon lost to Ohio State in the Rose Bowl. However you might be right. Utah finally got over the USC and Oregon hurdle they struggled with for years. Especially the USC hurdle even when Utah would beat Oregon and get into the top 10 they would lose to USC. The year Utah almost made the playoffs they lost to both USC and Oregon. So them beating both of them was a big deal.
  11. I'm watching the press conference right now and he is doing amazing.
  12. I give it an A. I would have liked Oregon to hire somebody like Matt Campbell but I actually like this more because Dan Lanning will continue the physical style of play that Oregon has been playing. Also, he seems to be a great recruiter which is important for Oregon.
  13. Defensive coordinators are pretty important and Georgia had one of the best defenses in the country. Being the defensive coordinator at Georgia is huge. It's not like he is the defensive coordinator to a mountain west team or something.
  14. This is one of the biggest reasons you can even see it in how the remaining players reacted to his hire.
  15. I have a feeling that Dan Lanning will hire Mcclendon so I'm very curious to see how he does.
  16. I want to see how well Mcclendon does in the bowl game. I'm pretty sure he'll be coaching somewhere on Oregon because isn't he a Georgia guy too?
  17. The fact that he is so young and went up through the coaching rankings so quickly tells me this guy is good. Kirby Smart wanted him as his right hand man so that is good enough for me.
  18. By circumstance Oregon ended up with one of Alabama's best O-line coaches and now Oregon hired the best D coordinator Georgia has had. I like this SEC trend and Oregon has shown to be one of the most physical teams in the Pac 12 with Cristobal so I'm glad that is going to continue.
  19. I have a lot of respect for Wilcox but I think this is a much better hire. This will continue Oregon down the path of being the toughest team in the Pac 12. Also, I don't think Chip was the answer for this particular team. I think hiring an assistant from Georgia or Alabama was actually the safest move. As much as I like Matt Campbell I'm not sure he continues down the path of making Oregon the most physical team in the Pac 12 like Dan Lanning does.
  20. It seems like they are excited to have a great young coach that can continue Oregon being known as being the most physical team in the Pac 12.
  21. The rest of my family are Charger fans and love Herbert. They are my second favorite team. I like Matt Stafford but he is fairly old so I still think there is a possibility that the Ram's end up with Mariota in the future. My Pacers ended up with Chris Daurte and I'm actually happier with him as a Pacer fan then I was as a Duck fan. My main point is we don't know a whole lot about Lanning but he seems to be one of those young exciting coaches. Also, I was begging for Oregon to hire a Georgia or Alabama Coordinator and they came through.
  22. As a Ram's fan I wasn't sold on someone as young and inexperienced as McVay but I listened to the other Ram's fan and accepted him and he has been a solid coach for the Ram's ever since. I feel many Duck's are going to feel the way I did about McVay but will be pleasantly surprised at how good a young genius coach can be.
  23. I actually think he should be. However I'm weird and would think having a coach named Mullen and an AD named Mullens would be pretty cool. Plus Mullen did have some success at Florida and his style is similar to Cristobal's so the remaining players will have an easy transition.
  24. I'm a Duck's fan but my NFL team is the Ram's. When the Ram's got Mcvay I was like, "who is this young guy that only coached as an OC for the redskins for a year?" I feel many of the Duck's will have that reaction with Lanning but if he is a defensive Mcvay Oregon will be extremely happy.
  25. I understand where you are coming from sometimes rooting for Oregon can cause me to be depressed. If the coaching hire is someone like Taggert I'll likely take a break from watching college football for a while. I enjoy watching the UFC because there are many upsets and great people become champions. However, with college football it is just Alabama winning year after year.
