Both media and players have an interest in inflating the figures. Media to get clicks, players to inflate the market. 13 mil, even if spread over 4 years, just no way. If the offer is accurate no wonder it fell apart. Also walking away could have more to do with trust than money at this point. Even if the collective came back with a market offer how could you trust them to not back off again?

Justin Herbert Needs a New Team

Well, the leading players all spoke up in support of Staley, and for a cheap owner that was enough cover to keep Staley. Staley is doing something right even if it isn’t running the offense, otherwise the players would have remained silent. -
2. USC flourishes "That said, I think USC's class will be rated higher than Oregon's. But because the Trojans will be headed to the Big Ten in the summer of '24, they won't have the highest-ranked class in the Pac-12. Instead, it will be absorbed by the Big Ten." Why? Because they are USC. So far Oregon has matched every recruiting move USC has made and at times exceeded theirs (e.g., nine 4/5* DL/End high school recruits vs one for USC). One nice thing about USC moving out is not having to listen to the media’s blind adoration of USC nearly as much.

I seriously doubt that this multi-million offer is real.

That is top quality sport writing. Thanks for posting.

Cam McCormick Enters Transfer Portal
lownslowav8r replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I think this a great point. He’s likely not NFL bound and definitely not going to be an early pick so paying for his education makes good sense. Perhaps staying at Oregon was too risky given he may be forced out this year or next. No doubt about it, Oregon wants to be a National Championship level team and athletes that can’t play at that level are going to be forced out. This is the dark side of the transfer portal as Lanning himself mentioned. The idea that he doesn’t want to work hard doesn’t hold water given the effort it took for him to even play football again. How many of us “armchair quarterbacks” could have done the same? -

Also possible that he knows something we don’t and Oregon is going to get a couple of 4/5* tight ends. Just don’t have it in me to judge Cam. Too much unknown. I do hope 2023 is his best season yet (just not when playing us). -

No matter what the reason (but especially if he was forced out) this is sad. Hope he finds a good home. -
If you’re on Twitter a kind word would be appreciated. No info on what happened.

Nyckoles Harbor, the Class of 2023’s top athlete, can conquer football, track or both — Andscape ANDSCAPE.COM He’s the most sought-after uncommitted football recruit in the class of 2023, yet the Maryland AAU staffer tasked with finding... Yikes: Brutal Draft Analysis of Noah Sewell
lownslowav8r replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Makes you wonder. Where did the joy go? Did he have behind the scenes issues (depression)? Did he just not enjoy being at Oregon? Injury? Trauma/avoidance (afraid of getting hurt again)? I remember he was hurt a lot when he played hard. I hope Lanning et al have/had a good exit interview and if the team could have done better teaching/supporting him, they do so with future players. Oregon must be a place where players/young men have the potential (if they work hard) to become their best. We can’t be a Texas A&M. Sports can be deeply exploitive. NIL, with all its flaws, is designed to help address this. One of the reasons I root for Oregon is that I’ve always felt the organization acts with class (at least more class than most schools). I realize that feeling is probably naive, but the day I feel that is no longer true is the day I stop rooting for Oregon football. -
Possible Option for 5-Star Nyckoles Harbor Prospect

I also agree with this. This is our unique advantage. -
Possible Option for 5-Star Nyckoles Harbor Prospect

Great post @Duck Fan 76 I’ve been impressed by Harbor’s intelligence. In modern football that can be a huge advantage and Oregon has done well with smart players. Further, I think Lanning’s approach and personality are friendlier to smart players than Harbaugh’s “old school” demeanor. -

Why I don’t go (along with being exposed to every new flu, RSV, and Covid variant making the rounds). Add to that all the crazy fan costumes that make it difficult for those behind to see the game. Lot more enjoyable and safer to stay home. -
