  1. I do find this humorous...I don't really hold any animosity toward the Beavs (except that annoying as hell twitter Beavs 3.0 guy), but they sure seem to hold plenty against us. I even typically cheer for the Beavs when they aren't playing us. They're kinda like a little brother and I can understand why they loathe being thought of in that way. However, all the real animosity I have is reserved for those whining butt lickers up north and the back stabbing Roth Warriors down south. I wouldn't p*ss in their mouth if their gums were on fire...
  2. I was thinking about this and while I'm 100% in support of merit based revenue sharing, it made me curious about if Georgia, 'Bama and Clemson equally share their revenue. I believe the accepted school of thought (especially on the coasts) is that "A Rising Tide Lifts All Ships" soi magine my surprise to see that the three schools listed above currently equally distribute their football revenue while our little section in the PNW is wanting merit based sharing. I'll avoid the political references and just add I'm shocked to see it even being considered, much less so widely supported...
  3. 'Bama, Georgia and the like won't schedule a home and home with us for the same reasons you don't want to do the same with BIG-12 teams. We're seen as lesser competition for the SEC but we're good enough (especially at home) to hand them a loss. (Ohio State anyone?) Playing Texas Tech (who will start the season ranked) may not have a big effect, but if we take care of business the way we should, it will just be another ranked team to count toward our total come bowl season. If we're (PAC-Whatever) going to be perceived as better than the B12 and anywhere close to the B1G and SEC, we need to handle the B12 any chance we get to play them.
  4. I'm just THRILLED the TT game is at 6 local instead of 1pm like I had originally seen. It's gonna be HOT on the field, but at least it will start cooling down for the 2nd half
  5. Just seeing this makes me smile, especially when thinking back to that USC recruiter that tried to steal my cab at DFW Airport and him telling me we just got a Texarkana recruit that would break all of our rushing records...what a great day that was
  6. Not sure who all is making the game come September, but my girlfriend and I just got our tickets. Section 18, Row 2. Hopefully you're a good representative of the fan base as I've already been told to expect to get hit with tortillas and all manner of taunts/gestures. I believe the advise was "if you're up big, leave before the game ends bc it's gonna be a tough walk out of there." Truth is, I wanted my first Duck game to be in Autzen, but I couldn't pass up this opportunity Cheers!
  7. It's a fair point about their past success, but we've been forked 2 out of the last 3 times we've played them. We all know weird things happen in the desert at night, and in my mind Dilly-dilly running that offense only makes that a greater possibility moving forward...
  8. I'm thrilled with the pull, especially at the 11th hour. Granted, in my mind I see Moore as Caleb Williams and Novosad as Brock Purdy, 2 different caliber of player. However, given the defense being built and the skill talent around him, Novosad may end up looking more like Eli Manning than Purdy. Either one is fine with me though as we'll have the talent to be a consistent playoff contender...
  9. Just a random thought: We have 2 other 4* safety's in this class in Decambra and Tyler Turner. Does anyone have an (educated) opinion on the difference in floor/ceiling between these two and Bowen? Point being, I think we're still covered with blue-chip talent at the position...and while I'd like to land as many 5*'s as possible (in part to show we're running with the big dogs), more importantly I'd much prefer getting the MOST out of the talent we do have as opposed to chasing stars and letting that make up for a lack of development.
  10. Further down this thread you'll find where others apparently had read the same thing I did about Hicks and Peyton wanting to play together. Oklahoma makes sense as Hicks was seriously entertaining them for a while, and now with Peyton committed, I can't help but wonder if Hicks will follow. With both being from down here in Texas, I'm sure they've probably spent some time together in camps etc...
  11. I don't like the sound of this...if he flips to Oklahoma, I wonder if Hicks will have had anything to do with it...
  12. That's also true. So what's the answer? Forego high school recruiting altogether, focus on the transfer portal and expect only 1 year per player?
  13. ESPN CONFIRMED: Moore to UCLA. Do I think CDL made the right choice? No, I don't but that may very well be b/c I'm stuck in the past and still believe high school recruiting offers the most long-term, stable option. Case in point for me is this: I'm more excited about Jurrion Dickey than Traeshon Holden. Not b/c I think Dickey is better this year, but b/c I think if he sits a year and learns the offense and speed of the game, that he'll offer a longer term ROI (3 years) than a transfer with 2 years eligibility left...especially b/c there's no guarantee that Holden stays 2 years and isn't a "one and done" instead. I won't bemoan how NIL and the transfer portal have changed the game, we've all been down that road. I'll just state that school loyalty seems all but done (except for we fans of course) and the era of "respect my decision" is upon us.
  14. For me, our "football standard" is playing disciplined and to the level of our talent. In terms of recruited talent, I believe we were #7 in the country...that means meeting expectations is a #7 ranking, plus or minus 1. Anything short of that by seasons end was either a learning experience or failure (if we fail to learn from it).
  15. I may be way off here, but at some point doesn't the money just become a bragging point? If CDL is to be believed, I'd have to think he'd want success on the field which in my mind would mean program support. Sure, keep him with an incentivized contract, but pay his assistants well and give him any tool he wants that he believes will make the product on the field better. That may mean keeping the facilities second to none, paying the NIL deals for the recruits he most covets and overall making Oregon football an even bigger national brand...I can't help but wonder if that will also mean buttressing the PAC to keep it relevant as well? In the world of the blind, the one-eyed man may indeed be King...but in the land of 20/20 vision he's nothing. Being the best in the PAC is one thing, but if the PAC doesn't rise to the occasion, then that may be what lures him away...
  16. Since it's so early in his head coaching career, we need to be judicious about how we work his contract. We damn sure want to keep him, but he doesn't yet have the resume to justify a top tier salary. That being said, I think there's really one good way to approach this: Keep the salary where it's at, but add very healthy incentives for success. Once he has 2-3 years of sustained success, then if the results warrant it, throw the kitchen sink at him to keep him here. Also, I would do the same for Dilly...especially if they manage to put that beautiful trophy in the case!
  17. I was thinking something similar...only to Connerly again. We stole him from their backyard and I'd enjoy nothing more than to see him run one in on them just for spite!
  18. Nerves or malcontent are the only thing that comes to mind for me. TT looks NOTHING like he did in the Spring game. At least there he looked alive and wanting to compete. Granted, they kept the plays simple...but they do the same for him now. Either he freezes up on the big stage, or he has been so disappointed in being the back-up to a transfer (yet again) that he doesn't even want to go out and run the 5-6 plays they give him. What's odd though is that he's showing enough in practice to keep the back-up spot...which means there's no way he looks the way in practice that he does in games. That in itself lends credence to the "rope a dope" strategy, but I just can't see a coach putting a player though that. I guess we won't know until next season...either Nix will move on and we'll see an electric TT, or Nix will stay and TT will transfer (or stay content being the back up)...
  19. It's a bit easier to "open the checkbook" when you're the beneficiary of a MASSIVE media contract and sending 2 teams to the playoff every year. ESPN has made sure that the SEC (and themselves by proxy) will always be relevant. I'm not saying it's right, just that it's the reality...
  20. QB next season...and I'm afraid Cardwell is gone too Just hoping we can keep Thornton on roster and get him playing next season. I think with Cota and Chapman leaving, we'll need him to step into a starting role alongside Franklin and Hutson (with Kasper, Lowe and Dickey pushing him)
  21. I'm currently at work w/o access to Twitter, but there was a video on there in the comments that showed the Wolverine player running ahead of his teammates into the MSU players in the tunnel...
  22. My initial reaction was disdain for the MSU players in the video. Then I saw video of the UM player leaving his team to run up the tunnel into the MSU players and appearing to be running his mouth and bumping into them. I believe you can be against violence but still understand what mess around and Find out, means. I see this as playing stupid games and winning stupid prizes. If you instigate in an emotionally charged arena and then catch hands for it, well, I have no sympathy for you. Stupid actions have consequences and this to me looks like playing with a rattlesnake and then complaining when you get bit...
  23. Well the good news is that UCLA also had a bye week and will be dealing with those same issues that we might :)
  24. So here's a thought for the more adept X's and O's among you: I feel like Flowe is athletic enough to spy on DTR and contain him. While I don't think we typically run a man based coverage with our LB's, do you think Lanning/Lupoi might/should use Flowe in that manner for this game? DTR is the key to stopping this offense. He's the wild-card, the X-Factor. Charbonnet is really good, but then again, so is our base run defense. In my humble, uneducated opinion, we need to pressure DTR while keeping him contained in the pocket. That means our coverage has to be sound enough to force him to throw into very tight windows while under pressure. We can leave Gonzo on an island, drop our DE into the flat to contain the checkdown to Charbonnet and then have Flowe spy all day on DTR while the safeties provide help to the corner opposite Gonzo. What are your thoughts on the keys to the game and how we might best contain DTR???
  25. I'd cheer for the Fuskies if they were playing the Spoiled Children...that should just about sum it up.
