More PAC12 Incompetence: They Didn't Add Commercials...
Mic replied to Solar's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
With the demise of the Pac-12 Network I wonder what Sling Orange is gonna replace it with. It's almost the only reason to stream it. -

Omigosh! The 14Josh Formation is Now a Stein-Staple?
Mic replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Call it '11Brute'. 11 Ducks force their will thru good 'ol brute force, like a human battering ram, right thru the heart of the defense. With a name like that the Ducks could catch the defense assuming they're coming straight ahead when the ball carrier actually has options to take it wide if the defense collapses inside. With the speed of James, a bounce outside could be devastating. But the name sounds a bit too mean. -

Another article from CF that makes this site the best. A guy can actually learn something about college football besides just chatting with friends. -
Which is YOUR Most Likely Upset on Saturday?
Mic replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Of the 4 choices Charles shows, Ole Miss. I wouldn't bet the farm on it, or even just the chicken coop, but it seems the most likely . I know I'll be pulling for the Runnin' Rebels. -
Oregon Ducks Favored by 21 Points Against Colorado: Too High?

Dittos.... But it would be fun as all get-out if it were true! -
Pretty sure this is the Duck that inspired Tez Johnson to wanna be a Duck too. He''s certainly one of our best products and made Oregon very proud while he was here. Made USC sick to their stomachs too.

Yikes! Huskies Lose Another Starter to Injury...
Mic replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It is an interesting speculation. But, I'm glad Bryce did get his chance to play - he's proved to be pretty good player at middle LBer. When Jacobs comes back (if that's his position) he'll have to earn it from a local kid who got his chance. And competition breeds excellence. -

That's true with just about any school but esp. in this conference right now. The one exception "might" be Utah who has managed to stay upright so far without Cam Rising. Look at Alabama's struggles without a good QB running the offense, tho it might be more than just the QB with them. Saban may have more problems than just that. But your point is well made. -
Lanning actually said it! I didn't think he had (tho someone on the board mentioned it earlier) but in the above video Coach Lanning actually said (tongue-in-cheek?) about the Nike Thermal Cleats: "What I like about them is when the guys wear 'em at practice I can tell if they're practicing hard, right? If their cleats aren't turning colors we've got a problem." 1:52 - 2:02 mark. He sounded serious! Do you think Phil Knight & Nike had that in mind? LOL Gotta love Coach Lanning.

That's a great way to look at it. Not having seen Colorado play yet (just highlights) I can only report what others have said and feel about the Buffs playing above their level and the hype being above their actual ability. But if that translates to a bigger win for Oregon, so much the better!
-
One of my keys too. Pressure the QB, contain him on the corners, force him into bad throws. How do you think he compares to or is similar to Tyler Shough?
-
You've brought up an interesting point (my hope when starting this topic) and that is Shough's runs were, by-and-large, designed. The fact that Shedder's aren't (and I take your word for that because I haven't watched him play an entire game) does offer a tangible difference and a potential problem for the Ducks, perhaps. Designed QB run plays can be schemed and planned for. A good, ad hoc scrambler is an entirely different problem. Esp. if they're good at it. Interesting...thanks!
-
Penalties could be huge and I hope the Ducks can avoid them. Colorado seems to have been playing above their level while Oregon looks to be still getting up to their potential. If Oregon does, it could be a very big win for Oregon. I think we agree on this...
-
Absolutely, but here I was referring to the comparison between Shough, whom Oregon struggled (at least initially) to contain and Shedeur Sanders. We'll move on. Thanks.
-
Good answer but what about the comparison between the two QB's and how they pose a threat to the Ducks?
-
The biggest reason why I can't get a grip on what's going to happen Saturday in Autzen is the Buffalo's QB, Shedeur Sanders. Given what went down in Lubbock with Tyler Shough able to seriously challenge the Ducks with his running and pin-point passing, the prospect of similar things happening with Sanders gives Colorado the penultimate "puncher's chance". Is Sanders really this good? Is he better than Shough and if so, much more dangerous? Will the Ducks Defense be able to stop him from doing to us what Shough very nearly did? If so, how? Travis Hunter's loss will be huge for Sanders, no doubt. But is that loss so large as to neutralize the rest of the offense? Interesting side note: like his father, Shedeur is quickly becoming known around America by his 1st name only. 'Shedeur' is all one need say for everyone to know whom your speaking about. That's publicity!
-
Everyone hopes that's the case because Oregon has the history of scoring quickly - oftentimes too quickly - and the opponents get lots of offensive opportunities. I'm hoping Colorado experiences a lot of 3 and outs (tho I don't expect it, really) and it's their D-line that gets worn out instead. This game.... this game just seems to me to be such a wildcard as to what is actually going to happen given the explosive natures of both offenses and the defensive lapses both teams have had to struggle with. I just can't get any kind of feel for what is actually going to happen. It could be an Oregon curb-stomping or it could be a heart-stopping affair. I just don't know. But I do feel confident Oregon will win.

Oregon Ducks Favored by 21 Points Against Colorado: Too High?

I offer my wisdom on this matter; DUNNO. I should think O can more than cover - but Colorado can be explosive in an area where O is sometimes vulnerable. Also, gamblers are savvy creatures - betting agencies aren't often wrong - or at least not very wrong. I'll be happy with a convincing win. -
Blast from the Past - 2002 Fiesta Bowl Highlights
Mic replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It would really be good to see the fans make the stripes and the waves happen. I'll be watching from home and I hope to see it in action on the ABC cameras zoomed out. A chance for a lot of American football fans to get a look at Autzen at it's best. Not to mention a lot of potential recruits all around the country. Make it happen guys! GO DUCKS! -

Attending a clinic featuring Steve Greatwood would have been a real honor and learning experience. No wonder you understand so much about this topic, Charles. -

Yikes! Huskies Lose Another Starter to Injury...
Mic replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
In football and just about any other sport, Injuries are the great equalizer. On great teams deep in talent, less so. On teams with less depth, of course, more so. Colorado as an example may really suffer from the loss of one player, Travis Hunter. I don't know enough about these guys for UW to know how hard it hits them but losing a center can be serious. Other than feeling bad about the two individuals, it's UW. I'm playing my violin.... -
I'd preferred yellow outfits (my favorite) but green's good too. I'm assuming Colorado will wear white? If they wear black the contrast isn't enough and might lead to some confusion and turnovers.
