Either Colorado got better fast or USC is getting worse. I opt for the latter. Caleb says he's winning the Heisman a 2nd time, the National Title and then 8 Super Bowls. We'll see.

HDuck says it: Kentucky. Not on the list but no one saw this one coming.

I mean, it's not like the U-of-O is not still in Oregon, or won't still play their home games in Oregon, for crying out loud. I guess it's the best thing the brain trust in Corvallis could come up with. "Oregon's Team". What happens when OSU decides on a new conference somewhere, do they then stop being 'Oregon's Team'? Ridiculous. It puts a stamp on all this nonsense and how sad or pathetic the premature ending of the Pac-12 as a conference has become. Thanks Klavikoff. For nothing.

You're not still in touch with Glen are you? I lost touch with him a couple years back

Lanning's New Catch-Phrase: 'The Standard'
Mic replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Somehow I just don't see complacency ever being much of a factor with a Dan Lanning coached team. At least, we haven't seen that yet. If it ever happens, I'd be willing to bet it becomes a one-off quick! In other words, not happen again. -
Krsmgn! U got in just under my pick! I added 3 points to be different but you and I are on the same page, I think.

48-17 Oregon 2 TO's for Oregon 3 sacks 300 yards passing 160 yards rushing Camden Lewis gets a FG. He needs the work to be ready when O might really need it. Can't always be going for it on 4th and 3 inside the 10.

With Cam Rising playing, I believe the Beavers still win the game 21-17. Without Cam Rising, 24-10. The Beavers are seriously tough to beat at home and Utah has been just getting by (on the strength of their defense) so far this season. This will be the Utes 1st loss.

Dan Lanning’s TEN Over-the-Top Surprises for Duck Fans
Mic replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Tez, weighing in at a mere 160 lbs. wet, is the Little Engine that Could. Proof that technique can sometimes overcome size and strength. The fact that he's willing to block is proof to me of two things: 1) Lanning's philosophy that everyone blocks and 2) Tez's desire to help make his team better. I really like this young man and what he brings to the game. -
This is just another reason why Oregon football is so much fun to watch.

Lanning's New Catch-Phrase: 'The Standard'
Mic replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Well, if the "standard" is anything like we saw against Colorado I'd say terrific! If the Ducks can maintain that (let alone improve it) against better teams than Colorado going forward then Lanning has worked his miracle that we all have been hoping and waiting for. -
He will but I wonder if he'll stick around past his sons graduations. He'll be one of the hottest coaching prospects in the nation and the temptation to' trade-up' will be overwhelming. Colorado may not have enough $ in all of Boulder to hang on to him.

Dan Lanning’s TEN Over-the-Top Surprises for Duck Fans
Mic replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Spot on with the 10 points Charles. I'd suggest at least 1 more. At his young age Lanning seems to relate a little better with the young men he's recruiting. It's a hard thing to explain but it's more like a "come play football with us" rather than the "come play football for me" of his famous counterpart Deion Sanders. There's a subtle difference that I think is not lost on the young men he's bringing in to be Ducks. Lanning may be generating more loyalty to the team rather than individual glory for the coach. No disrespect to Sanders. Just my observation. -
Not until now. That's a brash statement wouldn't you say? More like: "OSU is Oregon's Pac-2 Team". Now that would be more like it.

Funny Responses to Keyshawn Stating Other Coaches Helped Oregon
Mic replied to Steven A's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Should be mildly interesting to see how the pundits react as Colorado loses more games. For Oregon's SOS rating it would be beneficial for the Buffs to keep winning - but they won't. I'd hazard a guess they'll finish around .500 for the season, which is still a major improvement for them. A few other Pac-12 teams are gonna "get me now" as their coach says, before this season ends. Notice the use of the word "me". -
I can't tell ya how many of us there are that want to see what this guy can do. Right now, the Ducks are looking pretty solid at the position, he may have to work very hard to get himself playing time. With Lanning, nothing's a given.
-
Oh, I remember well that fake punt you linked us all to, Charles. What Duck fan during the Kelly Years wouldn't? But now Dan Lanning has surpassed even that bold attempt - by at least, what? -11 yards further back than even Chip Kelly? Now, every time Oregon lines up to punt, teams are gonna have to be wondering in the back of their minds "is this guy crazy enough to try this again"? And they'll have to prepare for it or, by golly, he might!
-
A 'bodacious' post as well, DanLDuck. I guess it was just fate that Oregon got to be the team to prick the bubble of Colorado's super inflated image. Others will likely get their chance (and undoubtedly succeed) as the season wears on but Lanning will always be remembered as the 1st coach to humble the un-humbled. If your a CFB fan and didn't know Oregon before, you sure do now!
-
Agreed. This is also no longer David Shaw's Stanford team - the last to beat Oregon. He was always one coach to respect.
-
Dangerous to be looking ahead past Stanford who has surprised us before in years past. However, the UW game is #2 of 3 games I thought Oregon might lose this year, the first being the TT game. They got thru that tough road game by the skin of their teeth. It will take a near-prefect effort by the Ducks to defeat Penix on his home field. Till then, there's Stanford to be dealt with first. Go Ducks.

Funny Responses to Keyshawn Stating Other Coaches Helped Oregon
Mic replied to Steven A's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Why is Keyshawn looking for excuses to explain away Colorado's loss? Is he worried it will detract somehow from his former team's performance against the Buffs this weekend? Or is he hoping to 'gild the lily', so to speak, when USC takes them down (assuming they do) implying "they" (USC) would never dream of gathering intelligence about an opponent, because they don't need it? Sportscasters should be very careful when making charges about any specific team, esp. one in the same conference as their own alma mater. As far as I'm concerned Keyshawn lacks objectivity and would best be ignored for this comment. Take it for what it's worth: nothing. -

This begs the question: was it the pass rush that helped the Duck Secondary cover the Colorado WR's or was it the coverage of the WR's that led to the 7 sacks and a lot of hurries or throw-aways? Kinda like the 'chicken or egg' question: which came 1st? Given that Shedeur was reported (somewhere) as having a release time of under 2 seconds per attempt, I'd tend to agree with your assessment that it was the Duck Secondary that led to the sacks (that, and a porous O-line) instead of the other way around. This bodes very well for Oregon going forward against teams like Washington and Washington State. -
Listening in to KPNW radio (still) and a great interview with Don Essig, Duck great. It's his opinion that this whole decision to move to the Big-10 leaving the Pac-12 was, in his words: "Starts with S and ends with d. Stupid." He then went on to explain his opinion but I don't know shorthand so I couldn't get it all down. I absolutely agree with Don, but... it is what it is and Oregon moves on to make the best of Klavikoff's betrayal. Glad to know someone as knowledgeable and as connected to the program as Don Essig agrees with a lot of us fans here on the forum. GO DUCKS!

Oregon Ducks Favored by 21 Points Against Colorado: Too High?
Mic replied to a topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Alas, not always. I remember too many that weren't. But as important as this one is I can't imagine ABC not having a backup plan B. -
Oregon Ducks Favored by 21 Points Against Colorado: Too High?
Mic replied to a topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Sans an injury to Bo Nix, (and maybe not even then if TT has made progress) I can't see how Colorado wins this game. I just noticed the early game on ABC is Fla. State - Clemson. Here we go again? Too many times I've seen the major networks stay with the 1st game until it's finished, missing the kickoff and sometimes a number of offensive plays when Oregon is in the 2nd game. Maybe being the big marquee of this game this will be different. I can see FlaSt-Clem going into overtime. I Hope not!
