  1. I don't know how I'd caption it but I'd recommend Dan Lanning save it for the games that don't go right - for the times things look dark and for the times the press and fans are calling for his head; all three of which could certainly happen. It's a lovely shot of a happy bunch of young men!
  2. So that's what happened to the Sears catalogs! Clever.
  3. It's the old conundrum: When he (Nix) is good, he's good! When he's bad ... we'll, we get a pick 6 in the red zone that could have cost O the game. Good news is that he seems to be doing things like that less frequently showing the coaches that he's continuing to improve. Another year? Maybe he'll reach that point where they start calling him great. And I agree with you, he may be the perfect mentor for young men wanting to learn how to play QB for Oregon. That's a very good point.
  4. Fair enough, I guess. At least you know the rules!
  5. The NCAA, the Pac-12 and the individual schools all need to figure out how to stop this nonsense of 8:00 pm starts. This isn't Friday night football at the local High School field - which is great, btw. This is serious business for people having to travel up to 200+ miles one-way into a crowded arena with a parking and transportation dilemma. And then return home again after midnight.
  6. I would welcome him back with mixed feelings. Yes he's certainly a good enough QB for any program to have on the roster. But we could likely say goodby to either Ty Thompson or Jay Butterfield, or even both. And would another 5* QB want to come to Oregon if either one of those two did stay awaiting their long-expected turn? Perhaps, but then that might also serve to drive TT and/or JB away as well, knowing the 'new kid' sitting alongside them on the pine has a shot at starting next should Nix hang around one more year. I'm just glad I'm not the coach or the one who has to make those decisions.
  7. Going back over the game again it's clear you're right Coach: Oregon brought a lot of the problems on themselves, esp in the red zone. But I also saw (in WSU) a definitely improved team who (under Dickert) seems to give as much thought to defense as offense. I don't ever remember seeing WSU play with so much speed on defense before. They may have caught Oregon by surprise with that speed, esp. on the perimeter. Oregon is still the faster team, though, imo. I think Lanning and Dickert are going to have some real battles together.
  8. Their's or ours? Probably both. Thankfully it didn't end up in O.T.
  9. My friends from Gresham (season ticket holders) are still mulling it over. They said they might drive down if they bring their camper. Pity it's so late.
  10. Official boxscores show Oregon has having 4 total sacks, and Wazzoo as O. So no, stopping Nix was not a sack - he was the runner not passer.
  11. I'd rather that not ever happen again. Eventually the comebacks stop coming. But to do what they did on the road against an inspired-to-play team like Wazzoo Saturday was pretty exciting and impressive. Thank God Mase Funa had jumped that quick route and made the catch. It wouldn't have mattered if he hadn't scored. Oregon had the ball and WSU had no more time outs. A drop there and - who knows?
  12. Well, Peterson was an assistant here once. And then there's the Cal coach Justin Wilcox. If we give ourselves a bit we could probably come up with a bunch.
  13. There've been successes in that regard, all right, but plenty of busts as well. (O's experiment with Taggert and Cristobal on the latter side of things). Lanning could (emphasis on could) be the former and get O rolling again which we all hope is the case. It'd sure be a pity if, after getting Oregon back on the winning track, he ends up getting snatched away by Alabama or the NFL. How could we blame him if he left?
  14. For what it's worth, so do I. I was both surprised and impressed by their speed at the edges, there hard hitting and their young QB who is going to get a lot better. Oregon is fortunate, imo, that Pullman/Spokane is a difficult place to lure top talent to as compared to LA, Seattle and Eugene.
  15. Any guesses on how full Autzen gets this coming weekend? 75%?
  16. Still not a great time for a team in the Top 15 and (after beating Stanford) in good position to make a hard run for the Pac-12 North. But it sure beats 8:00 pm. That's not just ridiculous, it's almost criminal asking fans to fill a stadium with a 60,000 seat capacity on a Saturday night in October.
  17. Maybe premature, we'll see. It definitely does illustrate how hard it is to be a Head Coach at the collegiate level; esp. Div. I. I'm very happy that we have what appears to be a coach for our team that might have the 'right stuff'. It'll be great to see him win games. It will be sad to see what the pressures of holding that position can do to a young man. Such is life. GO OREGON.
  18. Well, I'll certainly go with the last reason!
  19. I, too, almost gave up on the Ducks. Almost. Boy am I glad I didn't! My B-in-L told me they were going to win it, all the way thru the entire game but I just couldn't believe it because of all those Red Zone screwups. And then the unlikely happened. GO OREGON.
  20. Well, he's aged a bit - can't help that. The youthful naivety is gone. Reality is settling in that he might just be in over his head. I guess I can't understand why the obsession on this forum about MC's troubles at UM? We all thought he was a decent guy, but not the right fit for Oregon. It's now becoming clear to many that maybe he doesn't have the genes for a Head Coach at the Div. I level. I guess we felt like a girl dumped after her first date with a guy: jilted. But why do we persist on pounding on him? He's gone from Oregon. Let him stay gone. GO OREGON!
  21. How do you define "most complete" ?
  22. Maybe Oregon's O-line began to wear them down in that last qtr. but I didn't really see that as much as I saw the Offense finally getting things going in the red zone. Those 1st 4 visits inside the 10 yard line were almost the undoing of Oregon and those can't be repeated in future games.
  23. Too many silly, forced throws still. 3 pics with 10 TD's, doesn't sound bad but it's when and how they happen that puzzles us. He's the right QB for the team, tho, and we support him very strongly.
  24. And Bo Nix (God love him) has got (!) to stop throwing those cheap, silly picks. It was 1st and goal - that was a 14 point swing. I love him as O's QB, but ... that needs to get ironed out too.
  25. That's the fastest defense on the perimeter I can remember ever seeing WSU exhibit. I was impressed. Dickert has his team going in the right direction and it's going to be a battle to win these matchups in future seasons. Thank God we have them in Autzen next time!
