  1. Kpnw this morning reported this sad news for one of our former Ducks Torrodney Prevot: Police arrest former college football player in Logan Heights fatal shooting WWW.SANDIEGOUNIONTRIBUNE.COM San Diego police said 27-year-old Torrodney Prevot retrieved gun and opened fire during early morning argument Torrodney played for the Ducks 2013-2015 and was a member of our National Championship game team. Darn!
  2. Bleacher Reports projected Pac-12 finish this year; Utah wins over Oregon in the Pac-12 Title game. Save this one for comparison to actual outcomes - just for kicks. Pac-12 Football: Preview and Predictions for 2022 Season BLEACHERREPORT.COM Over the past half decade, the Group of Five has placed more teams in the College Football Playoff (one) than the Pac-12 has (zero). Could Utah, Oregon or 4-8...
  3. T'would make shutting them (USC) down even sweeter - but it will take a Conference Championship game to make that happen. USC has, (fortunately for them) avoided Oregon on its schedule this year - the last of their Pac-12 conference appearances.
  4. Our own (once) Chip Kelly was oft criticized for his non-disclosure of just about everything. Seems his style has caught on near everywhere.
  5. lol 'Touche' What I mean to say is: Lanning & Lupoi are very aware of those two and have an idea (better word) maybe, on how to attack the line with them in mind. Whether or not the idea/plan has any success or not will be up to the execution of the blocking schemes as performed O's line. But then, that's always the case. I would imagine Lanning also might know of any tendencies or weaknesses (if any) of either of them. Everyone has a weakness and everyone has tendencies. Who better to know them than the man who coached them to a National title?
  6. Nice heads-up on some players to keep an eye on. Ought to be interesting to see how Ingram-Dawkins and Logue stackup against O's pretty darn decent and experienced O-line. Or, vice-versa. You know Lanning & Lupoi will have a plan for the Bulldogs O line.
  7. Looks like our stock market since 2020. lol I'm still trying to figure out why Scott called for the on-side kick, but one thing's for sure. If it had worked (and Nebraska tacked on even just another FG) every "football analyst" in America would be calling him a genius. Just saying -
  8. Don't you worry. If nothing else happens good Saturday I think O fans can count on a team with the fight instilled in them. And I'm sure the Bulldogs know it.
  9. So are we, GatOrlando. So are we. Good luck Saturday, btw.
  10. I don't want to sound totally critical, but shouldn't the 2022 Oregon Hype video feature this year's team/players as well? If the idea is to hype up players and fans for this season, how better to do that than to showcase the hardworking young men we're all excited about and anxious to see play? I gotta think the producers kinda missed the boat on this one. I agree with Charles here. Use the game in Georgia to hype things up!
  11. Actually, if history is any guide, it's liable to be someone everyone has overlooked. Including the coaches.
  12. Dittos. While everyone's watching the QB shuffle I'll be keeping an eye on this kid.
  13. Of course, all's fair in love and war, as they say. I'm sure O's looking for others to sign should Juriron Dickey change his mind.
  14. I'd be inclined to take that bet as well. I can see UNLV winning at least 6 games, certainly not just 2. This program is on the definite up-swing.
  15. Just another reason why Oregon's showing on Saturday could a have long-range impact on future scouting. What a tough way to start the 2022 season - on the road to play the current National Champs. But think of the up-side should the Ducks show well against Georgia, while Miami plays... Bethune-Cookman.
  16. None of those other teams have left yet. I'm hoping saner minds will prevail. I find it hard to believe Phil Knight would be in favor of Oregon joining a leave of 20 teams based predominately in the Mid-West portion of the country. He's been working so hard for 40 years to build a Sports Empire out here on the West Coast.
  17. All this coaching & position secrecy must be affecting the media personnel who put together those great, invaluable Game Notes pdf's that a we see before each game. I keep checking in every day hoping to see them appear. Nothing yet as of today, Sunday 28th. Does anyone here know when they might be expected to arrive for the Georgia game on Saturday?
  18. We won't be forgetting them for much longer. UNLV is a program on the move up. After USC & Ucla leave the Pac, the Pac could do worse than consider UNLV as one of the schools for admission - that is, if they'd want admission.
  19. It's been conventional football wisdom since the forward pass was introduced - The Pass plays open up the Run game and vice versa. Kelly was our Past Master at mixing up the run & pass to open up and/or soften the defense. Our opponents never knew what was coming, nor where it was coming from.
  20. I love the passing game, the long, down-field throw & catch, the intricate weave, slide and spin to open a passing lane followed by pin-point throws to massive tight ends. But it's still the break-away 60 yard run of a really fast running back after he bursts thru the line for daylight that brings the biggest thrill for me. Cycles of run and pass come and go as O.C.'s scheme and plot and talent arrives on the field to make it all work, or not. Football is multi-dimensional. Run, throw, kick, ball-strip, kick-block. It's the variety that makes American Football what it is: the most exciting team sport on the planet.
  21. Now THIS is my kind of writing. I never really thought about it before but there may be 1 good benefit to seeing SC & ucla move off into the sunrise - East to the Big 10/14/16 or whatever it is they're morphing into: Maybe, (just maybe) Oregon If the stay put in this conference (please, please) won't have to soil themselves with more games in the 'coliseum'. I, for one, wouldn't mind seeing either SC or ucla off the Duck schedule permanently. Fun article to read. Welcome aboard Mr. Lohner!
  22. Scott Frost might be the poster child for a 'coach too far'. Meaning, a good QB coach/co-offensive coordinator but NOT a Head Coach. Not all coaches are cut out to be Head Coaches or QB coaches or OC's Or DC's etc. Know your lane and stay in it. Frost would have a great collegiate coaching career if he'd stay in his lane and help develop QB's and Offensive schemes. And what's wrong with that?
  23. Wow. You've certainly done your homework. I'm going out on a long, flimsy limb here and predict (always stupid) that Bo Nix has his most productive year as a QB this year at Oregon with Coach Kenny Dillingham scheming the offense around his talent. Barring injury. Whether or not this helps Oregon, we'll just have to wait and see.
  24. There's also USC to beat. I don't have any idea how Phil Russo does up with this other than agreeing with the material form the article posted by Pennsylvania Duck above. Imo, this is a highly unlikely scenario and places a heavy burden on the whole team - setting up the potential for a lot of disappointment. So why publish it? To get attention to the column, perhaps. Why do I call attention to it? To illustrate the absurdity of collegiate football predictions. When has the actual final outcome of a college football season ended up the way pre-season predictions have ever gone? I can't think of any myself.
