Ducks jump back into top 10 of 2024 rankings with flip of 4-star CB The Oregon Ducks are staying in the national spotlight, this time for something they’re doing in the recruiting world, rather than the conference realignment world. On Monday night, 4-star CB Dakoda Fields announced that he was flipping his commitment from the USC Trojans to the Ducks, joining what is turning into an elite 2024 class under Dan Lanning. Fields is rated as the No. 83 overall player in the 2024 class and the No. 9 CB, per the 247Sports Composite rankings. With the addition of Fields, Oregon moved back into the top 10 of the national rankings for this cycle. Check out where they now stand... Oregon is able to flip the commitment one of the region's top cover corners. USC rallied and he surprised a few when he ended up committing to the Trojans while on his official visit in early June. Behind the scenes, we continued to hear that the Ducks were making a big push and they were able to get him on campus two weeks ago for their big Saturday Night Live event. Fields told us at the time that he was still committed to USC but added, ‘Oregon gave me a lot to think about.’ “The trip to Oregon was good,” Fields told us following the visit. “The best part for me was being able to hang out with the coaching staff as a whole and building stronger relationships with them. Since 2000, where does Oregon stand among the best of the best in Big Ten Conference? There is a prominent belief in the world of college football that when it comes to the best conferences in the nation, the Big Ten stands among the best of the best. Obviously, it is impossible to dethrone the SEC when it comes to accolades. Since 2000, 14 of the 22 national champions in college football have come from the South Eastern Conference, including six of the last eight. The Big Ten has a pair of championships under its belt in that time period, though, and schools from that conference are routinely near the top of the rankings and in contention every single season. There should be no confusion about why the Oregon Ducks wanted to jump from the Pac-12 to the Big Ten in the latest round of conference realignment, where they will now be aligned with some of the best teams in the nation, including Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Wisconsin, and Iowa, among others. But when you look at that history over the past couple of decades, where do the Ducks stand when it comes to national prominence? To answer that question, we looked at how many times each team in the conference — newly expanded to 18 teams with the additions of the USC Trojans, Washington Huskies, and UCLA Bruins — found themselves ranked inside the AP Top 10. Here’s where Oregon stacks up... Since 2000, where does Oregon stand among the best in Big Ten? DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Since the year 2000, few teams in the Big Ten have been as good as the Ducks when it comes to the AP rankings.

If Oregon and Oregon State choose to play in football it could take years to schedule new matchups The University of Oregon hopes to continue to play in-state rival Oregon State in all sports as they've done for over a century of time. But is this even possible in football in the very near future? Future schedules say it's going to be difficult for the rivalry to continue without a lapse in games. If Oregon and Oregon State come to an agreement and choose to play one another in football, both programs will be on the hook to buy out a non-conference game or games for the foreseeable future to ensure they play one another. If they choose to wait until the first open date, it could be a very long time till the Ducks and Beavers meet in the regular season. "Obviously, we have a rich tradition with our in-state competitors," said Oregon Athletic Director Rob Mullens during a press conference about the move to the Big 10. "That is something that we will try to work out in every sport to continue those rivalries." Oregon State Athletic Director told the Oregonian they aren't yet sure if they'll play Oregon. “To be determined,” he said. Where Do the Pac-4 End Up?

Top Landing Spots for Stanford, Cal, WSU, Oregon State amid Pac-12 Conference Rumors And then there were four. The dissolution of the Pac-12 has become the biggest storyline of the college football offseason, as Oregon, USC, Washington, UCLA, Arizona, Utah, Arizona State and Colorado will all be headed elsewhere starting with the 2024 campaign. It was already known that USC and UCLA were going to the Big Ten, but Oregon and Washington will be as well. And Arizona, Utah and Arizona State will be coming to the Big 12 along with Colorado. That leaves Stanford, Cal, Washington State and Oregon State without a long-term home and with plenty of uncertainty. Here is a look at some potential landing spots for the four remaining schools and some rumors regarding their future. Oregon co-DC Chris Hampton on cross-training: 'The more guys you play, the more buy-in you have' In his first season as co-DC and safeties coach, Chris Hampton has begun to add his marks to the room, including cross-training multiple players. Few position groups at Oregon saw as much movement as the secondary unit this past offseason. The group loses first-round pick Christian Gonzalez, safeties coach Matthew Powledge, and numerous players to both graduation and the transfer portal while seeing a significant influx of recruits and transfer portal commitments. On top of it all, former Tulane DC Chris Hampton joined the room to run safeties alongside coach Demetrice Martin at corners. Oregon's changes have been significant, but the culture established has remained. Hampton has fit seamlessly in his new role, becoming a vocal presence on the field to his players and behind the scenes when meeting with coaches. How Will The Oregon Ducks Perform In The Big Ten? Last summer, USC and UCLA announced their planned exit from the Pac-12 conference to join the Big Ten. They are not the only ones. On Friday, the Washington Huskies and the Oregon Ducks informed the Pac-12 president that they accepted an offer from the Big Ten. The Big Ten is now a conference with eighteen teams. This makes it the largest conference in football history. If the conference adds more teams, it will be hard to justify calling it the Big Ten. Given that the Oregon Ducks have been a member of the Pac-12 since 1915, this is quite a historic move. Of course, this move will have Oregon Ducks fans questioning how this school will measure up as a member of the Big Ten conference. We will examine that more in this piece. Dan Lanning highlights Austin Novosad, Matayo Uiagalelei among freshman standouts in camp One of the biggest mantras that Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning has had since taking over in Eugene is “if you’re good enough, you’re old enough.” Virtually, what it means is that there is no restriction on how old players have to be in order to get meaningful minutes on the field. If a true freshman is good enough to contribute, then he is old enough to play. So far during this fall camp, it sounds like there have been a lot of young players on Oregon’s roster who have shown that they might be good enough to have an impact this season. On Saturday after the Ducks’ fourth practice of the season, Lanning was asked to highlight a few freshmen who have stood out thus far. Teammates wowed by freshman corner Rodrick Pleasant's blazing speed As much as older teammates would like to pretend they can stick with Rodrick Pleasant in a foot race, most are ready to admit they can't. The true freshman corner ran 10.14 in legal wind and 10.09 with extra help in the 100 meters earlier this spring to become the state of California's fastest sprinter ever at the discipline. "Everybody knew who Rod was because he was basically an Olympian when it comes to track," junior corner Dontae Manning said at Monday's team media day. "He has real track speed. Track speed and football speed are two different speeds. He'll look like he's relaxed, but he's moving." No. 3 recruit, DL Williams Nwaneri names Oregon in top five and sets commitment date Last Thursday, Nwaneri named his top five schools — which includes the Oregon Ducks — as well as his commitment date — which is August 14th. The Ducks have already had a successful recruiting season, but the addition of a diamond-like Nwaneri on the D-line would do wonders for the future of Ducks football. With the Ducks now joining the Big 10 and leaving the pass-happy Pac-12, stopping the run will become more of a defensive focus, so a bolstered D-line becomes paramount. Even though he named Oregon as a top 5 school, it is unlikely Nwaneri will end up in Eugene. As a Missourian he may be inclined to stay closer to home at schools like Oklahoma or Missouri itself — both of which are schools included in Nwaneri’s top five. Furthermore, 247 Sports experts have aggregated a crystal ball prediction of 100 percent confidence that Nwaneri will commit to Oklahoma when the time comes less than two weeks from now. Lanning says Austin Novosad has 'made huge strides' this offseason Head coach Dan Lanning is pleased with the progress he's seen from quarterback Austin Novosad this offseason. The true freshman from Texas enrolled in classes shortly after the calendar change in January. Early enrollment allowed him to take part in spring practice. That decision has begun to pay off, Lanning says. "Austin Novosad has made huge strides since the spring to now," Lanning said after Saturday's practice. "Austin understands the offense now. It's not turn around and try and learn it all over again. That was a lot new in a really quick time for him in the spring. To be able to go through all of summer, I think that's really prepared him well." Bair is set to take a two-year mission trip starting early next year and will return ready to start school January 2026. When he comes back, Bair won’t be traveling far to play college football. On Friday night Bair announced his commitment to Boise State choosing the Broncos over Michigan in a battle that came down to the final days. 4-star WR Gatlin Bair commits to Boise State: 'Growing the brand of the state is a big thing for me' WWW.ON3.COM Burley (Idaho) four-star wide receiver Gatlin Bair is staying home as he announced his commitment to Boise State.

Our 4th thread for this topic has reached a most of a 2nd page and has gotten too cumbersome to handle. So, I am starting a new thread (No. 5). NJDuck and I have never gone through a whole year cycle of postings regarding recruiting before, so this has been a learning experience. Along with the fact that Coach Lanning and his crew are such good recruiters, this thread grows quickly. If you need to refer back to No. 4 for reference, click here.
